Caucasian Lives Matter

No, the other kind of Caucasian. The ones who live between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea.

А couple of weeks ago, Cherkess activists were successful in forcing the removal of a newly unveiled monument to the Russian soldiers who conquered the region in the 19th century in Adler, a city close to Sochi.

While Russians may now be the “state forming” people of the Russian Federation after the Constitutional amendments, there is clearly some way to go before it translates into everyday practice.

The wording of their petition (machine translation) is quite similar to typical Black and Native American ressentiments in the US:

The monument to Russian soldiers who died in battle with the “enemy” highlanders, unveiled in the Adler region of Sochi, aroused indignation and protest from their descendants and many caring people in whom the memory of the victims of the bloody aggressive Russian-Caucasian war lives.

As noted in the news dedicated to this event, “the initiative to create a memorial sign belongs to the deputies of the Sochi City Assembly, the priests of the Holy Trinity Church, members of the military-historical society and the staff of the museum of history of the Adler region.”

However, it is hard to believe that the administration and the public of the city of Adler, on their own, without instructions from above, decided to abandon the conciliatory understanding of those events outlined at the time by the President of the Russian Federation B. Yeltsin as an example of a just liberation “courageous struggle of the peoples of the Caucasus not only for survival in their native land. land, but also for the preservation of the original culture, the best features of the national character. ”

We are convinced that it is at the behest from above in the North Caucasus that monuments to Catherine II, Suvorov, Ermolov, Zass, Lazarev, Alexander II, the Cossacks who “mastered” these lands, that is, key characters who unleashed an unprecedentedly brutal war that put the ancient peoples of the Caucasus for the brink of destruction. And if the address of B. Yeltsin contains a clear understanding that tsarism was to blame for the deaths of Russian soldiers, including, these shameful structures clearly demonstrate the true culprits of the tragedy. They are a living justification for the 100-year war and its colonial policies by the current federal center, as well as a shift of responsibility onto the modern indigenous people of the region.

We, equal representatives of the peoples of Russia, consider the campaign to forcibly establish monuments to war criminals in the North Caucasus and South of Russia not only examples of falsification of Russian history, but also a mockery of the historical memory of the indigenous peoples of the North Caucasus. We are convinced of the dangerous provocative orientation of such a policy, destabilizing the situation in the Caucasus and Russia as a whole.

In this regard, we demand from the President of the Russian Federation V. Putin, from the local authorities of the South of Russia, an official rejection of this course, as well as the immediate dismantling of monuments that distort historical reality and sow interethnic strife.

As Russian nationalist and occasional UR contributor Egor Kholmogorov notes, there should perhaps be a monument to Russian slaves installed in Feodosiya, Crimea, with the Russians having been great victims of slavery, often at the hands of members of the aforementioned ethnicities.

But on a more serious note, this is a long-term problem.

As I said, the Caucasian Muslims are clearly the least integrated of the Russian Federation’s ethnicities, with social views typical of that of the Islamic Middle East as opposed to Europe (like the Volga Tatars or Bashkirs).

DICh (Dagestan/Ingushetia/Chechnya) have by far the lowest development levels on numerous indices of economics and human capital and are the most reliant on federal subsidies.

The 90%+ turnout/90% pro-Putin results from that region are, of course, completely falsified. Beneath that facade, they are some of the more oppositionist provinces, and will become more so if/when Russia drifts in a more nationalist direction.

It’s not even clear where their long-term supranational loyalties lie. In 2018, for instance, a satellite town of Makhachkala (capital of Dagestan) installed a monument to Turkish soldiers who fell fighting against the troops of Lazar Bichekharov in support of the the Azeri-dominated Islamic Army of the Caucasus, which ethnically cleansed Baku of Armenians upon its capture and fought the Red Army for an independent Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. That is, not just against Russians per se, but against the Soviets whom the RF considers itself to be the successor of.

You really seem to be on to something here, Anatoly. It’s too bad that you ran out of steam and forgot to add a conclusion here, to sum things up and provide your own slant on how to avoid the looming powder keg?

  4. Instead of monuments to the past, which is always contentious, Russia should erect monuments to the future, symbols of amity and unity of Russians and Caucasians.

  5. Russia should cleverly use the Caucasians like how the British used the Sikhs, the Ottomans used the Janissary, Tsars used the Cossacks, and Jews use Antifa.

Use them as attack dogs against globo-homo. As they’re Muslim, it will be harder for the West to condemn the violence.

Yes, Russia actually should do this–along with of course giving Circassians worldwide a right of return to Russia. Yes, seriously.

BTW, wouldn’t the secession of the Caucasus be a good thing for Russia since it would make Russia even more Russian? Of course, your own permanent separation from some of your ancestors’ traditional Lak homeland would probably be unbearable, Anatoly! 🙁 😉

  8. Mr. Hack says

I don’t see how this clever ploy supposedly used by the Russians will in anyway help deflect the gloom and doom that Karlin illustrates in this thread? Perhaps the Caucasians are sick of playing the role of Russia’s lapdogs?

Circassians? I thought you genocided them all in 19th century.
They used to be considered the most beautiful whites and the name Caucasian was given to the white race after them and Georgians.
I’ve never met a Circassian but I’ve met some Georgians, including one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. Too bad that she was descended from Ukrainians so she was not a true example of Caucasian beauty.

WTF? Said like a true/blue moron. Instead of praising the beauty of a Ukrainian woman, somehow your convoluted way of thinking can’t allow this to be true??…

BTW, Circassians have been emigrating to Ukraine for centuries. The famous Ukrainian hetman, Ivan Mazeppa was of partial Circassian ancestry. The half moon on his family’s heraldic crest testifies of this connection:

  18. Another word used for Cossacks in the Russian documents in the Time of Troubles and the reign of Tsars Mikhail Fedorovitch and Alexei Mikhailovich was Cherkassy.

A theory about it is that during the islamisation of Adygea the Christian Circassians fled to the Sietch and joined the Cossacks to fight against the Muslim Tatars and Turks.

  19. Caucasians are a privileged military and organized crime caste in the RusFed. Not all of them, but many of them are either military or police or mafia, sometimes all three together in the same clan (teip). This is particularly true of Chechens, but it also happens in other ethnic groups. There are a number of them in the Caucasus, some rather small: a particular tribal isolate living in some remote valley…

At some point, in official documents a well as in the spoken language of the Russian court, the term “Circassians’ was often used when referring to “Little Russians” or what we know of today as Ukrainians. The town of Cherkasy in Central Ukraine was one of the Circasians original settlements in Ukraine, quite a nice and big town today. I don’t know how good your reading abilities in Ukrainian are, but I’m enclosing a great article that goes into some amount of detail about the Circasian element within Ukraine, and specifically a detailed account of Hetman Mazepa’s Circasian lineage. Even if you don’t know Ukrainian per se, you seem like quite the bright young man who’ll find a way to read it – your grandfather would be proud of your efforts.

“Progressive part” or not, not all, unfortunately, are acquainted with the Italian language. A slight translation or explanation would be quite helpful. The cossack’s unique hair style needs no further comments as to ethnicity. 🙂

  25. This is the burial of the master of the order, Nicolas Cataro. “Cossack” most likely not a Cossack, but a Turk, and the black boy apparently represents barbarian pirates defeated by the grandmaster (this is my guess, I am not competent to give an exact answer)

  26. I though a plurality of the Circassians that remained in Russia were by now Orthodox Christians, with less than half being Muslim? It was the Muslim ones that left (or the ones that didn’t want to convert as much) and were re-settled all over the Ottoman Empire. There are certainly a minority in ‘Circassia’ or ‘Adyge’.

I looked into them a little bit when I worked in Israel, since there were two Circassian villages and all men served in the Israeli army, and the bigger one was right on one of the main roads to get to the Golan, where I used to go hiking pretty often. So I sometimes stopped there. Unfortunately, it was pretty regular and the main restaurant was nothing special in terms of hummus. I started stopping in other places for dinner. They had some main small showroom with almost nothing inside and a small mosque, but the young people looked pretty secular just like the Druze. They talked to each other half in Arabic and half in Hebrew (though the Arabic and some of the Hebrew could have been Circassian that I didn’t get). There were some articles on them, and one that I read said that there is a center in that village that teaches Circassian and Russian, and they try to teach Circassian in the local school. They feel it’s important to learn Russian since it’s where Circassia is now located if some of them ever want to come back to their historical homeland, and there is a network connecting all these Ottoman Empire villages in this project.

The Circassian mosques have a distinct pattern in which they color the walls actually. There is a village in the Golan in the demilitarized zone administered by Syria, Beer Ajam, and I could see on the satellite photos that it was a Circassian town for sure, but there was nothing in wikipedia about it. During the civil war the rebels killed the mayor and about 10 people there right at the beginning. It made the news in Israel. Then it went back and forth and by the middle of the war, they had 50 killed, with some young people joining the rebels… it was pretty sad. There was a Druze town to the north that the rebels never managed to take, Hader. This is probably because even as it turned out Israel supported some of those rebels, if they had let the Druze town of Hader fall, there would have been Druze riots all over the country. Apparently the IDF made sure the rebels could never take it and gave the mayor of Hader, and its sister town of Majdal Shams right across the border (which is nominally loyal to Syria but where more and more people are taking Israeli citizenship) guarantees when it was cut off from Damascus. I used to hear machine gun fire and mortars all night when I was camping there two kms from the border close to Majdal Shams. No such guarantees were given to Beer Ajam unfortunately.

I think some of the more secular Circassians from villages like Beer Ajam in Syria could be good candidates for relocation to Russia. Maybe have them convert to Christianity as condition for coming back, but I don’t see how that could be done in today’s world.

  27. the Caucasian Muslims are clearly the least integrated of the Russian Federation’s ethnicities, with social views typical of that of the Islamic Middle East as opposed to Europe (like the Volga Tatars or Bashkirs).

The Volga Tatars and all other northern Muslims of Russia are fully exogamous (meaning, they do not marry their cousins), just like the Russians. So are the Chinese, the Mongolian, the Kazakh, and the Kyrgyz as well. That’s why their states are all politically aligned despite huge ethnic, racial, religious, and otherwise cultural differences between them. There is a subconscious affinity between these peoples and their leaders. It’s no surprise that Tatars or the Bashkir fit into Russian society.

The Caucasus Muslims, on the other hand, do have cousin marriage, albeit at a very low proportion compared to Arabs or Kurds, but the sheer acceptance of endogamy (even with very low levels of actual practice of cousin marriage) creates a cultural and political climate that is incompatible with any modern nation state, not just the Russian one.

Endogamy (even low levels of it) keeps women ignorant, inhibits healthy and productive competition (as well as eventual cooperation) between men, and creates a social and cultural climate of dullness and crudity, aka the entire endogamous geography from Rabat to Kabul.

It is no coincidence that Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan (even with comparatively low levels of endogamy) are not part of the Eurasian alliances, and all have drifted towards dictatorships, in the case of Turkey led by a rancorous imam with Muslim Brotherhood origins, in the other cases by secular dictators yet to be overthrown by Islamists (a codeword for bearded or moustached hillbillies who cannot cope with independent males and females in an organised society).

The Russians either have to beat the endogamy (and all the negative phenomena associated with it) out of the Caucasus Muslims by force just like the Chinese do to the Uyghur with their ‘re-education’ camps, or they have to let them go in the long run.

  28. I though a plurality of the Circassians that remained in Russia were by now Orthodox Christians, with less than half being Muslim?

This is true for the Abkhazians (the largest remaining ethnic group in Circassian )

  29. Anyone who reads Russian understands at least 80% of an Ukrainian text, so I had no problem to read it at all. It all makes sense.

  30. Mr. Hack says

At least historically, it seems that wherever the Circassian element found itself, it always seemed to prosper and rise to the top within the military sphere. Even the Mamlukes that ruled in Egypt for several centuries were of this Circassian lineage. The article makes a point of enforcing the stereotype of the Circassians as being exemplary soldiers that excelled in all aspects of warfare, more than capable of subduing several enemy soldiers to their one. Within their code of ethics was a fierce loyalty to their suzerain, that only underscores what must have been Mazepa’s great hatred for the man (or most likely his policies within Ukraine) that he had served loyally for over 20 years…

  31. The Turkish Janissaries and the Cossacks had a similar haircut. This haircut goes back millennia and is already attested in the Pazyrik Scythians and the description of the Scythian tribes by Sanskrit writings of the Indian sages. In these writings the haircut is specifically mentioned as the one of barbaric or degraded Kshatriya living in the steppe to the north of India.

Ibn Fadlan (or some other Arab trader that I forgot, too lazy to look into it now) met early medieval Rus traders on the Volga and he described their clothes as very similar to the ones the Cossack used nearly a thousand years later. He actually placed the Rus among the Turkish tribes because of their looks and warlike habits. Early Slav warriors did not grow beards and had a similar haircut. We have of course the description of the Prince Sviatoslav Vladimirovich raiding Byzantine territory. He had the same haircut as the later Cossacks and even wore a single earring as some Cossacks did much later.

Bottom line, the Steppe nomad warriors, both early Indo-Iranian and the later Turks (in fact a population that arose through the intermixing of Altaic populations and Indo-Iranian ones) had similar dressing and haircut traditions to the early Slavs. And both Janissaries and Cossacks kept to this tradition.

  36. Kadyriv said himself that at age 16 he killed his first Russian soldier. He did not elaborate about the age he had when he killed his first Russian civilian…

    Only this is fake

  37. Don’t think so. Kadyrov and his father fought on the Ichkerian Mujahedeen side in the beginning of the first Chechen war. They switched sides after witnessing the increasing domination of the Chechen nationalism by Saudi Arabia funded Salafism and Wahhabism.

Kadyrov’s Clan (Teip) are Sufi Muslims of the Qadiryya Tarikah (Sect) descending in a continuous Silsilah (spiritual transmission) from Abd El Qadir Gilani.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qadiriyya

The Wahhabis are usually the enemies of Sufism, although ISIS had an alliance with the Iraqi Naqshabandi. So Kadyrov father wisely decided that it is better to live with Russian control than under Wahhabite domination. And then when Kadyrov father got blown to pieces, Kadyrov son took control of Chechnya as a pro-Putin strongman.

But before that the Kadyrovs had no qualms about shedding Russian blood. In general Vainakhs have no problem killing anyone they do not see as a friends. And they do not see Slavs in general as friends, they actually do not see Slavs as equals.

  38. Don’t think so. Kadyrov and his father fought…

This phrase is walking on the Internet without any confirmation that Kadyrov said it. So this is a typical fake. Kadyrov was born in 1976: when he was 16 years old, it was 1992. That is, all this history is nonsense simply because of the inconsistent chronology.

  40. Thé ethnic cleansing against non-Vainakh populations in Chechnya started a couple of years before the first Chechen War.

    https://versia.ru/v-1991-godu-usmirit-chechnyu-mozhno-bylo-silami-specnaza

BTW did you read Chechen Truth website around 1998 – 1999 before it was taken down?

If you didn’t, then you probably not know much about the way the Russians and other non-Chechens were massacred, raped, tortured and enslaved in Ichkeria.

This site was created by one of the survivors of the Chechen violence, a Russian native of Grozny that fled first Chechnya and then emigrated to work in his professional field in South Korea. It was territory sad to read about what happened in Chechnya in the 90ies.

  42. Thé ethnic cleansing against non-Vainakh populations in Chechnya started a couple of years before the first Chechen War

According to a fake quote Kadyrov killed a Russian soldier a couple of years before the first Chechen War

  43. Yes. Various reasons, the Azeris have a close relationship with Turkey, and are part of the GUAM cluster along with Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova (relevant for Russia) and Israel (relant for Iran). To the extent it counts, the Armenians probably have the single strongest ethnic lobby in Russia.

I agree with what is written above. Given what was happening in Chechnya in the 90ies, Ramzan Kadyrov might have killed Russian civilians when he was young.

Again, for the Vainakhs killing, torturing, enslaving enemy civilians is normal, it is permissible under their traditions (adat). Although this is normally forbidden in the Sunna and the Hadiths, but of course everything depends on the interpretation of the Sharia and Islamic jurisprudence by a Fakih (Islamic Jurist).

To understand how Vainakhs see themselves and how they see Russians, read Paul G. Khlebnikov who wrote the book Conversation with a Barbarian about Chechen mafia.

  47. I have no idea. Maybe it’s indeed a deep faked video. But again, given the situation in 90ies Chechnya and Russia in general, I would not be surprised if Ramzan Akhmatovich really killed his first Russian at age 16. Chechens are warriors, they respect strength and despise weakness. I have a couple of interesting conversations with Chechens in 1994 – 1996. If you act weak you are done. If you act respectfully and command respect yourself, then everything is fine. Maybe I will write about it one day on UR.

Endogamy (even low levels of it) keeps women ignorant, inhibits healthy and productive competition (as well as eventual cooperation) between men, and creates a social and cultural climate of dullness and crudity

    Crudity meaning fighting ,

Competition meaning trying to fuck each other’s sisters

Ignorant meaning unable to fuck niggers

Got it, I will tell my people the wondrous benefits of being christcucks।।

Also dumfuck, Protestants are famous for cousin marriage as are Meds।।

Among the anthropologically defined 356 contemporary societies of Euro-Asia and Africa, there is a large and significant negative correlation between Christianization (for at least 500 years) and the absence of clans and lineages.

The church also curtailed parents’ abilities to retain kinship ties through arranged marriages by prohibiting unions in which the bride didn’t explicitly agree to the union.

The welfare of the social order, according to St. Augustine (City of God XV.16) and St. Thomas (Suppl. Q. liii, a. 3), demanded the widest possible extension of friendship and love among all humankind,

this was especially true in the first half of the Middle Ages, when the best interests of society required the unification of the numerous tribes and peoples which had settled on the soil of the Roman Empire. By overthrowing the barriers between inimical families and races, ruinous internecine warfare was diminished and greater peace and harmony secured among the newly-converted Christians

Don’t confuse your mouth with your asshole feminist race mixing christcuck।।

  52. He did not say soldier, he just Russian

He later explained: ” I never said that I killed Russian soldiers “.

Therefore he probably killed Russian civilians.

    Only this is fake

This phrase (“I killed the first Russian when I was 16”) was first attributed to Kadyrov by the liberal (and extremely odious because of constant lies and fakes) journalist Yulia Latynina in a broadcast of the Echo of Moscow radio station on July 15, 2006

    https://zen.yandex.ru/media/chechnya/govoril-li-ramzan-kadyrov-frazu-o-pervom-russkom-v-16-let-5d9b3b896f5f6f00adf62c19?utm_source=serp

There has never been any documentary evidence that Kadyrov said these words.
Now someone with a microphone has created a two-second fake video based on a legend circulating on the Internet. In principle, I also have a microphone – if desired, I will make a two-second video where Kadyrov says “I am a reptilian from Nibiru”

  53. As I wrote above, it is possible that this video is fake. Possibly it is genuine, I have no way to ascertain this. But in 1992 -1993 Russians got killed in Chechnya in great numbers. I have provided several links, anyone can make his mind himself reading them. But frankly, in 1993 Russians got killed in great numbers in Moscow too, right downtown by the Supreme Soviet a few hundreds at least got killed by tank gun fire or executed by the death squads, some of which under Shoigu’s command. The exact numbers o the murdered by Yeltsin’s junta has never been released. Everyone prefers forgetting about it.

    https://artemevsepar.livejournal.com/5623.html

In 1990ies Russians got killed, raped and humiliated in Central Asian Stans too, alsi in Tuva. I remember meeting an old Russian man from Northern Kazakhstan in 1994 in a train and he complained that the Kazakh pressured Russians into exile. But the Kazakh nationalism was moderated and steered in the right direction by Nazarbayev, the Chechen nationalism was not really controlled by Dudayev. It was quite the anarchy in Ichkeria.

Kadyrov is often portrayed as a Russian patriot, which he is not. He is a Chechen nationalist, a Sufi Muslim and a strong leader for his own people. He is working for a long term survival of the Chechens and their overall prosperity. He is doing the right thing for the Vainakh people.

If only Russia had someone like him to lead it into the future. If only Russia had a Kadyrov, a Nazarbayev, an Alyev, an Erdogan.

That would be an ethnic Russian leader, a true Orthodox Christian, looking after all Russian people as a stern but loving father and doing all he can to advocate the interests of the Russians in Russia and abroad, today and in the future times. We can only dream, exactly as we dreamed in 1991…

  54. I mean, broadly speaking, you’re both correct, I agree with you on Chechen culture and have often made the same arguments.

But I’d need more than a 2 second video clip (with no context) to ascertain its authenticity.

  55. As I wrote above, it is possible that this video is fake. Possibly it is genuine, I have no way to ascertain this. But in 1992 -1993 Russians got killed in Chechnya in great numbers…

This is a sample of “Ukrainian logic” (if a fake works on the ideologically correct line, it is not fake). I do not doubt the ethnic cleansing in Chechnya and other crimes, but this does not justify the fake composed by Yulia Latynina

  56. feminist race mixing christcuck

A typical phenomena in endogamous societies is the preference for multi-chain noun phrases used as curse words at the level of a 14-year-old middle school boy.

Note: Our women don’t have to copulate with Bantus just because they don’t marry the son of the brother of their fathers.

  57. Jatt Arya says

Race mixing and feminism are part of Christianity. I just wanted to point that out.

Naqshbandi sufis are exception among all sufis, for they are only Tariqa in my knowledge that traces their lineage from Abu Bakr and not from Ali, so they do not share the common Sufi belief that Ali was the rightful successor of the Prophet. So Wahhabis have less theological problems with them.

Cossack-janissary haircut is only one haircut among many different haircuts that were done among Mongols and Turks. In my understanding wearing of helmet was easier when you have less hair and its not as hot during warm weather. By the way how do you post pictures here?

  59. AltanBakshi says

Actually those banners are Mongolic Tugs, they originally had trident in top and horse hair underneath it, although Ottomans changed trident to Crescent. They were the symbols of Mongol empire. Mongols also worshipped and worship Mahakala, whose symbol is trident, Mahakala was the protector of Mongolian Yuan dynasty and Qing dynasty of the Manchus. And you probably already know who is Mahakala, he is Shiva. Although his role is quite different in Buddhism than in Hinduism. But in no way is he any small god, for he is perfectly awakened Buddha and supreme protector against all evil.

Which, btw is the norm across the ancient world incl Egypt & Rome.
