How do you talk about dysgenic trends in intelligence without coming off as bespectacled old geezer in a tweed suit with a pipe in one hand and a leatherbound copy of The Rising Tide of Color Against White World-Supremacy in the other*?
We need something hip, cool.
Everyone knows about the FLynn Effect. I suggest an alliterative counterpart: The Frito Effect, in honor of the hero’s moronic sidekick in the 2006 movie Idiocracy.
I will be using The Frito Effect to describe the awkward mouthful that is “dysgenic trends in intelligence” in all consequent posts. Let’s see if it catches on.
PS. Since I use quite a terms that are rather specific in my writing (e.g. handshakeworthiness, ROG, svidomy, mnogokhodovka, zrada), I have decided to compile a glossary at my main site (http://akarlin.com/). I plan to gradually fill in a few definitions a week, so hopefully I can link to the finished version in a month or two.
- Not that there’s anything wrong with that whatsoever.
Why should it, Idiocracy isn’t a well-known movie, and Unz review, including your blog, is a marginal site…the average person, especially supposedly educated ones, would react with outrage and indignation to it.
Good idea though about the glossary, I’ve often wondered about the exact meaning of some of the Russian terms you’re using (svidomy is some kind of deranged Ukrainian nationalist, and zrada is a betrayal iirc? Yes, a glossary would be definitely useful).
So what’s up with the Star of David in your photo?
Good memes help, but the main thing is that we ourselves must be attractive and interesting.
Frito Effect is catchy, that could catch on. Especially with the alliterative dichotomy with Flynn effect.
OT Mr. Karlin, but I believe you’ve discussed James Howard Kunstler on your blog before. Today, he went full shitlord:
http://kunstler.com/clusterfuck-nation/on-the-beach/#more-‘
Kunstler is an interesting figure because he straddles the mainstream and the fringe. He’s been very active in New Urbanism and Peak Oil, many books published with reputable publishers. It will be interesting to see if there are any consequences – no more TED talks or speeches at Urbanist congresses? Will he have to self-publish now?
Re:

Doesn’t say anything interesting or important.
Wut. Everyone and their grandma have watched Idiocracy. Which is why I think Anatoly has the right idea here.
Memes have spread all over the world from anonymous 4chan posts, and also Unz is not a marginal site among the people who are aware of, and concerned with, dysgenic trends in intelligence.
Perhaps it’s not well-known in Germany. I suspect the movie’s eugenics message would land you in a prison for thought criminals in the Fatherland. But it’s a cult classic here in America.
Glad to hear about the glossary, Anatoly. A couple years ago, appalled at the Corporate Media’s idiotic “alt-right glossary” articles which mainly focused on troll memes and Pepe the Frog, I reserved a domain name and began compiling a list of dissident right words and phrases, a large number of which I’d need to credit to Steve Sailer, Vox Day, the Saker, or you. My list’s got hundreds of entries but the site is still nowhere on the horizon. I’m happy to hear someone’s doing this!
My observations from living and working the last 3 years in North Alabama tell me that the bottom 80% of the population is devolving into a decadent state not all that much different from the movie…it’s reflected in the ridiculous state of media and politics you see on American TV…the emergence of the the so-called “trash culture”. The good news is that the top 20% is still fairly sane and hard-working…for the most part. America still has the ability to absorb talented foreigners, or at least foreigners from prepotent gene pools.
