Another thing to note is that Bitcoin dominance never receded to the extent it did in 2018 (I was sure this wouldn’t happen, hence missed the peak). Back then, altcoins were just $ETH and shitcoin “BTC killers.” Now, there are tons of altcoins that actually do things across #DeFi and Web 3.0; yet even so, Bitcoin fell less as a % of the total, and even a large part of the altcoin gains accrued to dog-themed shitcoins and fossil coins while some actually world-changing coins like Chainlink remained in the doldrums throughout the bull run. But perhaps it’s good that normies didn’t “get” things like Aave this run. It gives us one last opportunity for accumulation on the cheap.

Lithuania elected a government last year with a hostile stance to not only Belarus but Russia and China. Lithuania has tried to destabilize China’s relationship with the entire region. They pulled out of the 17+1, a dialogue format between China and Central/Eastern Europe/Balkans + Greece, and urged other members to also get out. I don’t know what Lithuania can gain relative to the other Baltic countries as the number one lackey of Washington in the EU. Over the last month, the cost though has become clear.

Belarus is angry with Lithuania for its role in stirring up regime change in Minsk and the wide ranging sanctions. Over the last month Belarus has imported Iraqis (twice a week flights were already running from Baghdad to Minsk) and directed them to jump across the barrier on the border with Lithuania. 1,200 refugees have crossed the border flooding Lithuania, a country of 3 million. Will Lithuania be stuck with them? How many refugees will live in Lithuania by the end of the year? Will a simple ladder or grappling hook defeat the 40 million Euro new barrier Lithuania has announced it will build? All interesting questions to watch out for in 2021.

No proof whatsoever given that competing Russian Olympic athletes have taken marijuana or any other banned drug. Clean Russian athletes are being discriminated against in a bigoted manner by not being able to formally represent Russia. Travis Tygart is a bigoted scumbag for favoring a complete ban of all Russians at the Olympics.

Nick Fuentes banned from Twitter…it’s instructive that the regime unpersoned him.

Fuentes is alive and well on gab, where Noseberg keeps a knockin’ but he can’t come in.

  8. On the better half, Fuentes being removed from all Big Tech platforms means a hardening of people onto the Alt-Tech platforms.

From the other end: Shrill harassment and impoliteness make it easy for Big Tech to get away with bans, by polarizing moderates away in disgust.

All of the lessons learned about “optics” since 2017 have basically been ignored since Trump was removed.

  9. Fuentes had 140K followers on his largest hitherto remaining platform.

Trump had 77M before he was nuked, which was always less than Obama.

The highest followed Dissident Right figure, Michelle Malkin, has 2M from her past time in the mainstream.

No figure has survived deplatforming and emerged stronger. Not Milo, not Alex Jones, and probably not Nick Fuentes.

Mainstream platform access is the oxygen upon which the movements depend. And it increasingly demands obsequious deference to the letter and spirit of ToS, and avoidance of hurting the feelings of anyone in a protected class. Most Dissident Right types think compliance is gay, and will just isolate themselves. On a matter of principle, I don’t use the Big Tech platforms.

But as we saw with previous deplatformings, most people will be satisfied with Ben Shapiro as controlled dissent.

The way forward is local politics and hyper-respectability.

Fuentes had 140K followers on his largest hitherto remaining platform.

Many are wondering how he even made it this far. Clearly he was toned down.

Trump had 77M before he was nuked, which was always less than Obama.

Trump was a p***y all four years. A large swath of modern Executive powers are likely Unconstitutional, but Trump didn’t even use the battle-tested, clearly-defined powers of the office. Didn’t stand up to anyone, including (((socials.))) He really needs to just go away.

The gay muslim kenyan’s tweeter numbers are likely as faked as Pretendsident biden’s vote count.

The highest followed Dissident Right figure, Michelle Malkin, has 2M from her past time in the mainstream.

I like Malkin, but even as a double minority she can’t/won’t name The Nose. Not every pundit has to, but all of them, sooner or later, end up on the kosher chopping block.

No figure has survived deplatforming and emerged stronger. Not Milo, not Alex Jones, and probably not Nick Fuentes.

They’re not hurting for cash. The bigger trap for them is lazing into merchservatism. “Buy my t-shirt or dick pills, or t-shirt advertising my dick pills…”

Anyone entering the media arena in Current Year should be well aware of the risks and know tweeter and bris-book are enemy territory.

Mainstream platform access is the oxygen upon which the movements depend. And it increasingly demands obsequious deference to the letter and spirit of ToS, and avoidance of hurting the feelings of anyone in a protected class.

Obviously being able to reach a mass audience is beneficial, but unless the message is tuned to reach all parts of the bell curve, it won’t gain much traction.

Most Dissident Right types think compliance is gay, and will just isolate themselves.

Anyone at any time can change the world now with a simple message. The Nose and Friends are scared shirtless, the smarter ones anyway.

On a matter of principle, I don’t use the Big Tech platforms.

You should come to gab, then.

But as we saw with previous deplatformings, most people will be satisfied with Ben Shapiro as controlled dissent.

It’s a mistake of the Alt Right to disregard a Shapiro outright. He’s good in a debate as long as the discussion doesn’t include Israel. Not everyone has to be a Milo or Fuentes to ‘rip the system.’

The way forward is local politics and hyper-respectability.

    And Secession of Red States.

Bull market crypto mc peak was $2.5T, world wealth is $418T this year = 0.6% of world wealth. Jan 2018 crypto market cap peak was $0.8T/320T = 0.25% of world wealth. In fairness, not at all bad increase, relative to virtually any other asset class

I know you’re looking at this as an investment matter, but it is worth keeping in mind that crypto isn’t a real asset like land, factories or research labs. It’s a currency. And as such it competes with other currencies. So crypto didn’t really create $2.5T or wealth; it just diluted $2.5T of wealth-denomination away from other currencies. Which is fine (particularly as those other currencies are mostly government-fiat-looting scams), but still, we shouldn’t mistake crypto for actual wealth creation.

I suppose there is an argument that by enabling economic activity outside the government-fiat panopticon, crypto has indirectly created some wealth (even if it is mostly drug deals and kiddie porn), but whatever that marginal amount of (indirect) wealth-creation is has to be offset against the enormous amount of real physical energy that bitcoin mining burns.

I recently read Edward Ruppelt’s report from the 1950’s. It is excellent and you can read it for free off gutenberg.

    https://www.amazon.com/Report-Unidentified-Flying-Objects/dp/146111828X

    https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/17346

I am 95% sure we know nothing more now than we did then. I don’t think proof is going to be available any time soon.

Ruppelt was an Air Force captain and he was the top guy in their UFO unit for years. I learned a bunch of things reading his book, including a couple of things that are accepted as important and factual in the modern UFO cults that are pretty sketchy. To cite the one example that most readily springs to mind, the Air Force pilot who crashed his fighter chasing a UFO in Louisville KY way back when is pretty well explained as he was chasing a new type of weather baloon. Ruppelt has half a chapter on that case. The unexplained cases? Well we are still searching for an explanation for these very few important cases. Most of the cases (and he looked at hundreds) do have explanations that are not spacecraft. And there are no cases that are explained as spacecraft.

  26. Nah. The Fuentes ban came on the heels of an ADL report: https://twitter.com/CassandraRules/status/1413558797105307649

Alt-Tech isn’t going anywhere (you can take this prediction to the bank). Gab visitorship is down 2/3 since January, nobody who isn’t already Alt Right is going there just to see Fuentes’ posts. They are just ideological echo chambers that have effectively quarantined themselves off from where the discourse actually takes place – not that they were given a choice about it.

  27. To be honest, after the recent calculations which you yourself talked about in your Katechon Hypothesis article, I am starting to believe that the entire Great Filter thing is more of a meme than an actual thing, as is the entire Fermi Paradox.

Realistically, I doubt we have the capability to register potential alien civilizations even in our local area of the galactic arm, let alone the entire galaxy. It’s simply ludicrously huge for any potential signal or definitive and undeniable sign to even be registered.

If we get to FTL and develop the capacity to observe a good chunk of the Galaxy in a centralized manner, and still no alien civilizations, only then do we have reasons for potential concern. Right now our priority should be mastery over the Earth and the reduction in human stupidity, after that, to become “grabby”

  28. So crypto didn’t really create $2.5T or wealth; it just diluted $2.5T of wealth-denomination away from other currencies.

Being able to trustlessly send money to anyone you want creates a lot of value. Being able to own the underlying asset also makes it a Store of Value like gold (but much more secure and accessible). But this is just Bitcoin. The real fun and promise is in smart contracts-compatible chains which can do everything from replicating traditional finance to decentralized social networks.

In fact, I would say that it is dissident types should want crypto to succeed more than anybody else, because you can’t be kicked from Aave like you can from Paypal or VISA, nor can you be deplatformed from urbit or your ENS domain like you can from Twitter or your .com domain. But it seems that the only ideological faction that largely gets it are libertarians.

… the enormous amount of real physical energy that bitcoin mining burns.

It’s pretty modest in the grand scheme of things. The US military burns more energy and is certainly much worse for the world. Anyhow, this will become less of an issue with Ethereum moving to Proof of Stake and probably “flippening” Bitcoin in the long-run.

If such a post isn’t forthcoming what other top crypto would you recommend to accumulate now while we’re in, most likely, the current bear market? Besides the aforementioned Aave and Chainlink that is.

If Trump really meant to negotiate multilaterally, sure. But much more likely the Pentagon wants to pull a new, bankrupting arms race on China and see who’s unseated first. (hint: the WEF doesn’t want any dominant sovereign state that can potentially challenge its globalist hegemony)

And they’re both pretty much irrelevant. Being allowed to speak freely isn’t much use if no-one is going to hear you.

  34. reiner Tor says

the Pentagon wants to pull a new, bankrupting arms race on China

I don’t think they are that dumb, but on second thought perhaps we shouldn’t underestimate their stupidity. China actually has an economy comparable in size to the US, and soon it will be larger, so it’s not possible to bankrupt them with an arms race.

  35. Yellowface Anon says

I think the more likely scenario is the total bifurcation or even fragmentation of social media according to ideological-tribal identification and secondarily common interests. Legacy social media (being outlets for approved “mainstream” opinions) stay as large as the proportion of “normies” in the society while the trickle to alt-social media continues, until a political cataclysm leads to some faction taking power and purging everyone else’s platforms.

Social media isn’t suitable for politics – you should think of forums, blogs or face-to-face talking. But then social media isn’t perfectly suitable for nearly anything, except attention whoring.

But having a Gab account doesn’t stop me from having FB, Twitter & Discord, you know, for anime!

  36. Yellowface Anon says

It’s you who might not be able to differentiate between wealth generation and storage of wealth. But you’re right about cryptos’ potential not limited to storage of wealth or trade.

    Let me tell Almost Missouri:

I suppose there is an argument that by enabling economic activity outside the government-fiat panopticon, crypto has indirectly created some wealth (even if it is mostly drug deals and kiddie porn).

As the trust in public institutions rapidly collapse (which might include a widespread rejection of the central banks’ fiat system), much economic activities could move onto currencies whose value is denominated independently from the existing institutions (so not just precious metals, but also cryptos and local currencies), either until some state authority that is able to regain trust come into existence or indefinitely if the ideological zeitgeist wants most of central authorities be abolished. This is still shifting wealth from one form to another, and entire sectors that are generated by Austrian malinvestment can go poof without fiat.

  37. He’s extremely charismatic, even if he looks like 3 dweeby children in an overcoat.

Something that outsiders might not get at first glance, the fanbase is almost uniformly male. Part of his rise to fame since 2016 was correctly pointing out that the far-right female content creators were almost all grifters. “No E-Girls”

The problem is that no movement can succeed without a female audience. Unmarried Gen Y and Z white women are almost as left wing as the black population.

  38. Bashibuzuk says

    central banks’ fiat system

Will just be replaced by central bank blockchain system.

  39. Bashibuzuk says

Unmarried Gen Y and Z white women are almost as left wing as the black populatio

Perhaps that’s because they subconsciously feel attracted to muh Magic Negro Chads. You know as in Blacks being funky, sexualized and offering the thrill of potential violence (which many bored bourgeois females experienced too little and came to crave), while Whites being just boring and predictable most of the time. They basically see Blacks as sexual objects, like Roman Empire patrician women saw their Barbarian Gladiator slaves.

  40. Morton's toes says

In Django Unchained, Tarantino took the terminology of “Mandingo fighting” from the use of “a Mandingo” being a fine slave for breeding in the film.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandingo_(film)

You might think these views are friendly to negroes (I certainly would) but orthodox political correctness considers Mandingo and Django Unchained as very very racist for some inexplicable reason. 99.9999% of negro males take no offense at all and consider it the highest tribute.

  41. Triteleia Laxa says

The problem is that no movement can succeed without a female audience. Unmarried Gen Y and Z white women are almost as left wing as the black population.

Absolutely. I don’t have the time to go into why, except to say that disdain for qualities which are traditionally seen as feminine is possibly the foundation of the dissident right.

They think the opposite, because they want hot girls on their arms, so that they feel socially validated and because they think forcing women into traditional roles means they respect feminine qualities, not realising that it actually means that they disrespect those qualities.

They can’t realise this, because they don’t even realise why they advocate what they do.

Worse, discussing with someone who disdains feminine qualities, for anyone with emotional intelligence, is an obnoxious experience.

It is one of being ranted at with “facts” and “rational arguments” that never mean what the speaker thinks they mean, because the speaker is completely unaware of their own feelings and therefore their feelings are dictating everything, like a hidden force, that they then try to blame society for.

If they could learn to speak with the kind of courageous vulnerability that you can only get from knowing yourself, the humility from moving past your ego and the complexity you get from moving past your fears, then they would find that women would be far less repelled by them. They would also find that their political platform would change substantially, but that is another matter.

  42. I don’t think so, there’s been a concerted effort by black celebrities to signal acceptance of feminism and GayPride.

It’s more apt that the Culture Industry has really pushed women into declaring themselves bisexual, and has established a secular monoculture in the younger generations.

  43. Go be a subversive somewhere else

  44. Triteleia Laxa says

What, specifically, do you find “subversive” in my comment?

  45. Bashibuzuk says

Girls know that Negroes are a bunch of liars and they don’t dislike it. Black guys I’ve known at the Uni would tell whatever to get a girl they fancied in their bed. One Senegalese friend of mine usually f☆cked a couple of new females each week and they nearly always came craving his BBC. He was bragging about it all the time and girls didn’t seem to care for his completely irresponsible attitude. The Arabs were way more couple and family oriented (as usually Semitic people are) and Latinos were romantic and emotional (although mostly hypocrite), but Blacks were in just for sex and girls knew it very well and some liked it. White French boys were mostly annoying types. Don’t think it has changed much in the last 25 years.

  46. I’ll do that, in August probably.

I would mostly keep my powder dry for now (I think $BTC trough will be $20-25k so still some room to fall – https://twitter.com/RokoMijic/status/1403772427084222470), but so far as cautious DCA’ing goes, I would focus on Ethereum and $DPI (https://www.tokensets.com/portfolio/dpi, its basically an index coin so you don’t have to try to pick winners from amongst DeFi) and possibly the $MVI (https://www.tokensets.com/portfolio/mvi). I would also pick up some more Solana if it drops to <$20, and continue slowly accumulating Kleros (one of the last obvious coins with 1,000x potential IMO). However, my consistent recommendation is to have the great bulk of your portfolio in established coins like ETH and BTC.

  47. For self evident reasons of biology and evolution, a young healthy heterosexual female (I know that bisexuality is very present in women, but let’s simplify) would look for a strong male capable of aggressively imposing himself.

These are often not organic preferences, but in reality cooked up by advertising firms.

They also don’t really look for stable husbands and fathers, but mostly for exciting lovers, that is util the women get old enough to start fearing ending up alone, then they would end up with any more or less acceptable for their emotional needs.

Women tend to be more interested in marriage compared to men. It is an irony that they are also the ones that are more interested in divorce.

It’s also exclusively women that resent their spouse for not earning more money.

Blacks fit perfectly into the exciting lover cliché and they are very dominant with their women, but they mainly do not project into the future and do not impose planning and organizing onto them.

Black women tend to be the most overweight, and the least feminine. Also the likeliest to divorce. I suggest watching the Kevin Samuels show to learn more about this.

Whites have mostly become too civilized to be subconsciously attractive for many younger White females.

This is what our friend Whiskey likes to preach, but I think there are contrary points. Part of the reason for so much female resentment towards peer age men has roots in widespread porn consumption. Young men are also often NEETs, and usually are not financially capable of setting up their own household by 25. Regardless of systemic failures, women will hold men personally responsible.

Vladimir Putin has only 3 important women in his life, although he certainly had many affairs.

The Puritan in me will never accept the legitimacy of this.

  48. Triteleia Laxa says

It’s an arbitrary distinction. There are only assets with better or worse risk-return profiles.

  52. Triteleia Laxa says

Women tend to be more interested in marriage compared to men. It is an irony that they are also the ones that are more interested in divorce.

Not an irony. Modern women are less passive than modern men.

These are often not organic preferences, but in reality cooked up by advertising firms.

Organic preferences = ones you find unthreatening?

It’s also exclusively women that resent their spouse for not earning more money.

How much would you like your spouse to earn even less money?

This is what our friend Whiskey likes to preach, but I think there are contrary points. Part of the reason for so much female resentment towards peer age men has roots in widespread porn consumption. Young men are also often NEETs, and usually are not financially capable of setting up their own household by 25. Regardless of systemic failures, women will hold men personally responsible.

Many modern young women have worked extremely hard to improve themselves and learn and appreciate the masculine qualities within them. Yet they’re surrounded with men who aren’t capable of doing the same, but in reverse. It often isn’t “resentment”, it is contempt.

It is the young men who generally resent the young women for their self-development, which creates a nasty politics wrapped in ugly humour, born of a deep inferiority complex.

  53. Yellowface Anon says

Financial investment-minded. We’re not living in pure capitalism…

  54. Yellowface Anon says

Sure. CBDCs are still fiat, just that it’s digitalized, not anonymous and much more trackable. Central banks can go on with meddling with interest rates, destroy the concept of saving, and generally create totally dependency on institutional financial networks. (A bit like what already exists in China, but there will be no other governmentally-sanctioned options)

If anyone hates the last few aspects, cryptos and gold aren’t options, but necessities. And if some goods, services and subscriptions in the formal sector have only CBDC payment options, those are shut out from crypto or gold users – but some of those will be shunned for cultural-ideological reasons, the rest can have distribution channels using crypto or gold, if what’s left of markets still work.

  55. Many modern young women have worked extremely hard to improve themselves and learn and appreciate the masculine qualities within them.

Skyrocketing rates of mental illness would say otherwise.

When the average younger woman in the West is enamored with bisexuality, promiscuity, credentialism, obesity, and consumerism; is it any surprise the RW young men don’t like this?

The market has reached its current imbalance thanks to smartphone dating apps, and the rising spectre of OnlyFans. Combined with increased income inequality, men are priced out vertically and financially.

The original point was noting how Mr. Fuentes established his branding, and also the downsides of alienating women. You proceeded to argue for pop psychology and feminism. In my book, that gets you the charge of subversion.

  56. Daniel Chieh says

Well, the fact you think they should change their political agenda is fundamentally subversive.

I also disagree with your thesis and can of quite a few modern examples of entire societies of women embracing more traditional roles.

Violence was usually involved but it’s strange to dismiss that as a force for change. It obviously is an important part of social development and control.

  57. Triteleia Laxa says

Elite social conventions preclude a lot of rightist thought. Rightists will therefore have to accept leaders who care little for social conventions, like fidelity, or they will remain unrepresented in the elite.

Johnson essentially defeated and subverted the sitting internationalist centre right government from the nationalist centre right, and has been enormously successful; he has even sent the identitarian internationalist left into absolute haywire. His ideological coalition, style and substance in delivery are something to study. Perhaps only a complete cad would be so daringly original in today’s society?

Many modern young women have worked extremely hard to improve themselves and learn and appreciate the masculine qualities within them.

And if you were a frog, you would suggest that these frogs have been working hard to improve their essential female characteristics? And this has been good for them how?

    https://news.berkeley.edu/2010/03/01/frogs/

Atrazine, one of the world’s most widely used pesticides, wreaks havoc with the sex lives of adult male frogs, emasculating three-quarters of them and turning one in 10 into females, according to a new study by University of California, Berkeley, biologists.

The 75 percent that are chemically castrated are essentially “dead” because of their inability to reproduce in the wild, reports UC Berkeley’s Tyrone B. Hayes, professor of integrative biology.

While humans are probably not as directly affected by chemicals in the water, it is an useful analogy of the multitude of novel social and technological changes that batter down upon society, so the idea that this is all some sort of willful growth exercise is something between disingenuous to silly.

No doubt we live in a novel environment, but this does not mean just accepting all of the influences is a positive thing. There’s a reason why animals developed homeostatis and significant filtration not only of ingested material but also within the body; all of this is a form of control, and control is essentially positive: a necessity to operation of complexity. What applies to them can be extended to humans society as well.

Arguably, this is one of my great hopes with transhumanism.

Man can do what he wills but he cannot will what he wills.

Ah, thank you. I had seen the cinematics from it, and it seemed like a fun game. Interesting it actually followed the board-game unit movement version.

For some reason, I thought this was that other…kind of Vermin-tide one, I guess. I should go pay closer attention.

The Puritan in me will never accept the legitimacy of this.

Putin has take efforts to take care of the women in his affairs and their children, which I actually find quite respectable.

Mastery is important, though I think mastery will likely be connected to ultra-efficient energy, which is connected to FTL, and if we get FTL, we might as well get the Hell off of here (no offense to Earth, it’s been a lovely Mother, suckling and stern all the same.)

  62. I was mostly studying with African and Antillais Blacks. Their girls were okay, some were actually probably even likable, but I have a hard time appreciating Black phenotype, so I passed my turn. But some of my Maghrebi studient friends got into affairs with Black girls and it seemed fine. The African Black girls seemed accommodating and more or less even submissive with their Arab boyfriends. Not so much with a couple of French I personally saw dating Antillaises or Beurettes.

Afiak, France has considerably lower rates of obesity than the US.

The girls just want the rich guy spending the money he gets on them and the kids. If the guy keeps his moneys for himself, investing in anything other than family wealth, the woman will think of him as a cheap greedy bastard. The ideal husband is the billionaire pouring unlimited wealth on his wife and his progeny, while keeping his d☆ck in his pants and being the perfect family guy – an impossible combination. (I am being ironic).

Barack Obama has had continued relevance thanks to his media portrayal as an “ideal husband and father”. It helps that he only had daughters. Right-wing critics have tried to dent his personal appeal, the charge of “effeminacy” has never stuck.

JD Vance of Ohio pointed this out, and for his truth-telling was condemned.

Not a surprise that Michelle actually resented him until he was elected to the US Senate.

  63. American conservatives were convinced that women were getting abortions out of stigma, so they started lionizing single mothers as heroic.

All it did was normalize divorce and feminism.

Skyrocketing rates of mental illness would say otherwise.

You need to see an expert to be diagnosed with something, and seeking an expert is a sign of wanting to grow.

Even the demi-God Hercules sought out Chiron, the healer.

When the average younger woman in the West is enamored with bisexuality, promiscuity, credentialism, obesity, and consumerism; is it any surprise the RW young men don’t like this?

I’m not saying that you have to like any of it. You can stay alone and your political movement can remain extremely marginal.

I am just informing you that, if a woman has a developed capacity for abstract thought, as well as the ability to listen empathetically, she will generally have little more than disdain for a man who can’t also do both.

The market has reached its current imbalance thanks to smartphone dating apps, and the rising spectre of OnlyFans. Combined with increased income inequality, men are priced out vertically and financially

This is half seethe, half cope, no better than an incredibly obese woman, with an obnoxious personality, blaming her single status on media propagated beauty standards, dating apps, and pickmes doing porn.

The original point was noting how Mr. Fuentes established his branding, and also the downsides of alienating women

Between Fuentes and BAP, they have captured the entire Gen Z and Y dissident right – yes, it really is that tiny. Fuentes has the half that seethes at women and BAP has the half that prefers self-development. BAP is too esoteric for the mainstream, but Fuentes is too resentful., though he is saved by his oddly, childish charm. Make whatever conclusions you want. It is your life.

You proceeded to argue for pop psychology and feminism.

Neither of which are in my post. I am just stating the obvious, because I am unencumbered by insecurity in this area.

You should re-read my post, rather than just dismissing it as “feminism.” From Odin, to Odysseus to Achilles, all great heroic journeys have required the hero to embrace the feminine within, in order to grow and be worthy of their task. If you want to dismiss Norse mythology, the Iliad, and the Odyssey as “feminist” and based in “pop psychology “, the only loss is yours.

  65. You need to see an expert to be diagnosed with something, and seeking an expert is a sign of wanting to grow.

That’s one hell of a hamster wheel.

Bisexual paganism revival is not going to be what defeats the liberal system.

Women tend to want things from men which are unattainable. Women show a revealed preference for men above 6 feet tall. Which is only 10% of men in the US. They show an additional preference for men earning above 150K, which is more than twice the median income; and a level that most men won’t reach until several decades in their career.

Japan is the least obese, and least invaded developed country. But Japanese women still have contempt for Japanese men. It’s a defect of the post-industrial society, not individualist failure. All men in South Korea get conscripted, women don’t. But ROK has perhaps the most toxic feminist movement in any country.

There is no “empathy” problem, that’s just something that liberal women use as an excuse for their lack of solidarity towards co-ethnic men. It’s a mask for their social darwinism.

  66. Daniel Chieh says

Your general inability to think and immediate resort to trite insults/platitudes is duly noted, though it is amusing that you applauded “abstract thought”, when you have just demonstrate a profound lack of abstraction. And self-awareness, I suppose, though I don’t credit much of anyone with that, so you’re just normal.

Someday when you’re actually interested in understanding as opposed to indulging in your immediate defensiveness, try rereading the actual sentence. Satoshi Kanazawa also is an excellent introduction as well.

Incidentally, apropos of nothing, this is also a good place for me to introduce another one of my favorite quotes:

    Modern problems require modern solutions.

  67. Daniel Chieh says

Accepting degenerate behavior by the elites, to me, is a hallmark of Oriental Despotism.

Russians are people of color, please understand.

Anyway, elite degeneracy – certainly in the form of mistress taking – was a norm in the continent, with the French being quite infamous for it. Germanics seemed to indulge in it less, but were much more into buggery, which I’m somehow is certain leaves fewer descendants. Anglos always prided themselves on doing better, but there’s a lot of the history which makes it questionable. They certainly seemed a lot more comfortable with drug use.

    https://mobile.twitter.com/crimkadid/status/1404684215942275072

Certainly the Puritans did better on all those metrics, but they really didn’t do individualism at all, and I don’t think that’s the society you want: in their own way, they were actually quite similar to liberals, including the belief that children should be removed from the parents of “poor character,” and pretty unlimited intervention in the lives of the population under the rule of pastors.

  68. Triteleia Laxa says

Well, the fact you think they should change their political agenda is fundamentally subversive.

I believe I only said that it would change, as they matured into a more complete human being.

I’m not generally into telling people what to do. I prefer to let them know what they need to do if they want to achieve the goals they want to. It is different.

Violence was usually involved but it’s strange to dismiss that as a force for change. It obviously is an important part of social development and control.

I don’t disagree, but I hope you can see why the Elliott Rogers Manifesto will not be attracting a female following.

I also disagree that modern societies have ever forced women into “traditional roles”. There are countries which have money that have, but they are not modern societies, because they don’t do modern work. The money comes out of the ground and the work is done by well-treated white slaves and badly-treated brown slaves. In fact, “modern” seems like a completely ridiculous moniker for such places.

Things are also improving for women in these places all of the time; which must be nice for them.

  69. Daniel Chieh says

I’m not generally into telling people what to do. I prefer to let them know what they need to do if they want to achieve the goals they want to. It is different.

“You can achieve your goals by changing them to something that I approve of more.”

I’m reminded of this amusing liberal poster that said that “I’m not against anyone, even if we persecute people, we’re not trying to hurt them, we only want them to change their opinions.” There’s a lot of charm in that self-blindness, which is, I think, quite adaptive even as it is great lie even to themselves.

This self-love is the instrument of our preservation; it resembles the provision for the perpetuity of mankind: it is necessary, it is dear to us, it gives us pleasure, and we must conceal it.

I also disagree that modern societies have ever forced women into “traditional roles”.

You’re not thinking of the same places, or the same things as I am.

  74. Almost Missouri says

Being able to trustlessly send money to anyone you want creates a lot of value.

True. But it already exists for 99.9% of transactions in the non-crypto financial system.

The real fun and promise is in smart contracts-compatible chains which can do everything from replicating traditional finance to decentralized social networks.

I have been reading your posts on this, in order to discern the reality amidst the hype. Blockchain “contracts” strikes me as an intriguing idea, but real world contracts always require a real world interpreter of what those contracts mean, and even then interpreters often don’t agree, hence courts, litigation etc. Theoretically, digital, automated contracts should work if there is an additional, objective data source that both parties agree on and that interacts with the blockchain. Or maybe “contracts” is a bit of a misnomer for what is happening in crypto world?

I would say that it is dissident types should want crypto to succeed more than anybody else, because you can’t be kicked from Aave like you can from Paypal or VISA, nor can you be deplatformed from urbit or your ENS domain like you can from Twitter or your .com domain.

Oh I want crypto to succeed, for the reasons you list and more, but I’m just slightly skeptical about it.

For example, an early claim about bitcoin was that it was completely anonymous. Now that has turned out not to be true, in fact it is not only not anonymous, it’s not even private. At least my bank account and credit card statement are nominally private, but bitcoin is not. Yes, I understand that Ethereum and others do apparently achieve the anonymity that bitcoin promised but failed to deliver. But the point is that the crypto reality has been falling short of the promise—sometimes vastly short—while the converse—the reality exceeding the promise—has so far never happened.

Similarly, I want decentralized social media to succeed to break the power of the tech monopoly censors, but looking at the structure of things like Urbit, they seem designed in to make anonymity precarious. Now anonymity is not everything, but part of what made even the centralized, censored social media fun and valuable was that people could write things that would otherwise have cost them their employment or an arsoned home or worse were they writing without the shield of anonymity. And little as I love facebook, twitter, et al., so far as I am aware, they have never publicly doxxed a user, and have never privately doxxed a user absent a criminal subpoena. Are they penetrated by intel ops? Perhaps, but then, perhaps decentralized social media will be too.

But it seems that the only ideological faction that largely gets it are libertarians.

Well, I think I (rightwinger) get it, (though I’m arguably semi-libertarian too). But I also think the left wing gets it and understands the threat to themselves, so they want it to fail for the same reasons I want it to succeed. So they work to co-opt, subvert or booby-trap it however they can.

In other words, I think the basic concept is well enough understood across the political spectrum, but whereas libertarians are optimistic, rightwingers are more pessimistic, and left wingers are accustomed to being able to shut down whatever doesn’t serve them. Can they cancel/co-opt crypto? Maybe, maybe not, but they can certainly try constrain the crypto-to-cash nexus (if you can’t trade crypto for real world things you actually need, then its value is limited). They can strengthen money laundering statutes, know-your-customer regulations, and the currency powers of various alphabet agencies to make crypto harder to use.

There are other open questions about crypto. For example, crypto, like gold, is under most circumstances a deflationary currency. Maybe that’s a solvable problem. And maybe a deflationary currency is preferable to an inflationary currency, which all the fiat currencies are. But it is still something that works against ubiquity, as it favors early adopters and penalizes everyone else. As early adopters, maybe we Karlinists feel that’s okay, but if it has the effect of driving everyone else into the financial arms of the Left-Fed-deepstate, that might not be so good for us—or for crypto—in the big picture.

  75. In my experience, hyper-masculinity is not liked by women, at least refined, attractive, educated types.

As with everything, there is a “sweet spot”. Despite all the Woke talk, here in NY there is a negligible amount of blacks dating white girls. I don’t know why that should be.

What is interesting, and difficult to explain in terms of evolutionary theory, is that East Asian girls like positively effeminate men, skinny, smooth shaven, with soft, feminine features. I wonder what that’s about.

That being said, I agree with you that whites have become too take, boring, and disconnected from their emotions, too practical, reasonable, logical, and scientific.

I sometimes suspect the whole Woke thing is a subconscious recognition on the part of whites that they must reconnect to their emotions, which blacks signify.

  76. Triteleia Laxa says

I agree, but I’m pretty ignorant, so my agreement isn’t worth much.

I am looking for a new investment opportunity after my recent, and first ever, foray into gold. I’m happy to pocket my 5%, but my usual technique for choosing investments, to close my eyes, relax a lot, and pick what I see, is noy bearing any fruit at the moment.* Nor is it the most rigorous method. Suggestions/inspiration would be welcome from all.

*Maybe we are due a crash or maybe that means gold is OK and it’ll hit $2,300 to $2,500 by the end of the year, when I’ll sell.

  77. Almost Missouri says

The problem is that no movement can succeed without a female audience.

Is that true? Obviously, it’s better if women are not leftwing, but as far as I can see, most women espouse politics in the same way they espouse everything else: according to social, emotional or fashion desires. (In fact most men may not be that different. Rational political discussion is a minority sport even among Y-chromosomers.) If rightwing politics (whether labelled as such or not) become socially or emotionally desirable for women, they will adopt it. Heartiste used to say something like, “women’s political views are sexually transmitted.” That may be a bit reductionist, but he’s not wrong.

In any case, women’s political opinions only matter because of the error of female suffrage. For most of history no one ever worried about women’s political opinions, least of all women themselves.

No movement can succeed without a female audience? Genghis Khan’s political movement succeeded just fine, literally grabbing their female audience as they went along. This is how things usually work. And the irony is that this scenario grows more likely again because of the excessive deference paid to female “wants” in today’s liberal democracies.

To the extent that the commenters extolling/lamenting the white-chix-black-dix meme have any merit, is it because “Magic Negro Chads” listen empathically to white females? Lol, no obviously. It’s actually the reverse.

There seems to be an archaic understanding of Black American machismo here. Black celebrities now are quite politically correct, and they are also the most overweight racial group in American society. The Tyrone types are not the majority, nowhere near close. The black men most likely to marry out are those who attend university and serve in the military.

Colin Kaepernick got into politics, not because of his own volition, but because he’s “whipped” by his girlfriend the same way Prince Harry is.

  80. And they see this, and conclude that it’s emotions in the first place that hold them back, and go beyond ego death into the ultimate “Godless Right” – the what I’d call “Machine Right” or “Inhuman Right” – basically hypermisanthropic cynicism. The very form of thinking they think “the elites” have (and most probably do).

I mean, I’d say a good chunk of the audience here is already at this “sociopolitical economic philosophical end point”.

There’s a reason why one of the aspects of this is called “the Dark Enlightenment” after all.

  81. I don’t like it when people deny moral agency to groups. It infers that there is no moral accountability, and that they are just subalterns.

I might be a cultural Puritan, but I’m a theological Catholic, error is because of one’s own free will, not because of determinism.

    .

We may be going back to “most of history”. Anyway, it’s always a risky thing to bet against.

It could be that the consequences of urban, industrial civilization have arrived just in time for that civilization no longer to exist. There might even be some cause/effect at play here.

Black celebrities now are quite politically correct

I’ll grant that one can find some black celebs on TV mouthing various wokisms, but …

Weren’t you saying something upthread about “not organic preferences, but in reality cooked up by advertising firms”? Well, same thing here. Except it is not necessarily advertising firms doing the cooking. And most of these celebs aren’t saying their real preferences, they’re just saying what their managers/handlers direct them to. In private life, blacks are among the least woke people on earth. Heck, even the black lesbian icon and BLM founder Patrisse Cullors, who mouths every wokism in the book, as soon as she had made a bundle from her grift, used it to buys homes in upscale white neighborhoods. Revealed preferences, mate.

  84. Black men are for white women what asian women are for white men.

    Some conjured “exotic” fantasy, really.

I prefer eliminating the competition outright rather than adapting to it :^)

  85. Thanks a lot

Makes sense and I’ve assumed Roko’s target range of $20-25k as the buying point. OTOH I presume the advice on keeping the powder dry is predicated on already having considerably holdings in altcoins already whereas I have rather little outside ETH+BTC, basically a bit LTC and Link.

Btw if you’re looking to monetize your blogging more, through Patreon for example, then adding your personal recommendations on crypto and stocks too might prove profitable. Would even be even more attractive if you added occasional insights from a willing Thorfinnsson.

  88. Triteleia Laxa says

The very form of thinking they think “the elites” have (and most probably do).

The elites don’t really. You’d be a completely miserable 50+ year old man, if you think like that when you get to that age. It is what suicide is made of. It is also what female initiated divorces are made of. Such a man might be saved by meeting a magical pixie type for an affair, but, to attract such a type, it would probably be necessary to be rich and elite.

Otherwise, your post is spot on. I especially like your names for this particular thought pattern; which leaves the thinker spectacularly lacking in magnetism.

  89. It’s the Horseshoe to end all horseshoes.

But the optimal ideology to become “grabby.”

Really the only difference between this and the woke is to the globohomo you eat the bugs to save the Earth, and in the posthuman right, you eat the bugs because it’s the most efficient (though we’d probably go beyond bugs into straight up “sustenance bar, water flavor” territory very quickly)

Really it’s the ultimate proof of Anatoly’s “wokeism is white supremacy” and how there’s a weird duality to the current philosophy and ideology. Everything seems to be some sort of black mirror to the other.

Where the WEF types want to institute some sort of neo-feudalism or make us live in pods “for the sake of the planet” the “Inhumanists” would do it to maximize evolutionary stress to speed up evolution.

  90. Oh no, what you describe are the “failed types.”

The closest equivalent for comparison would be high level zen buddhists. At that point the stuff you insist on doesn’t even apply.

  91. Triteleia Laxa says

You have to go through that process before you get to the “higher level zen type,” which is why I suggest it.

  93. Some good points, will reply later.

  94. Coconuts says

This is not the case today, in wealthy Western societies, women don’t really fear starving to death with their offspring, and the rational male of strong character, capable of ensuring a long term family growth, is resented as being too patriarchal (which was seen as a positive quality some 150 years ago). Basically, many Western women nowadays both despise weakness and resent strength in their White counterparts.

From what I can see they are in a very confused state, I think it was possible to perceive the early stages of the development of this 20-30 years ago but it has become more acute since. Some sort of Mouse Utopia scenario comes to mind, when Darwinian stress is reduced to the point that aberrant and self-destructive behaviours start to manifest.

Looking at things at the moment it doesn’t seem impossible that nature and the passage of time will put an end to History and Progress. European man and woman will be in an interesting situation then.

Crypto adopters aren’t culpable for this, those types continuing to use FEDCoin do so largely because of their engagement with the formal sector and partly inertia. (This is way I said the informal crypto-using sector will balloon)

  100. Daniel Chieh says

Well, there’s not a lot of point in embracing an nonadaptive ideology, because then a more adaptive one will replace you. Kind of the basic point of Karlin’s point here:

    https://www.unz.com/akarlin/virgin-primitivist-vs-chad-transhumanist/

If we view history as an evolutionary competition between societies and ideas, it seems obvious that primitivism would be the most self-defeating – and consequently, self-refuting – ideology on the planet. While transhumanism is accelerationism maxed, the most competitive and adaptive ideology.

But there’s also aesthetics to consider, and left-wing accelerationists will provide different aesthetics than right-wing one. And that, I think, does quite matter.

  101. Malenfant says

Schopenhauer was the one philosopher who was, quite literally, never wrong about anything.

He anticipated all of the 20th century’s political problems.

He had the most refined theory of justice — compassion is “the primary ethical phenomenon” — and his comments on Kantian ethics, which he called “orthodox,” were timely and brilliant.

“The World as Will and Representation” — as a work of metaphysics, which, at root, it is — easily surpasses all of the world’s religious texts, which seem childish and pathetic in comparison.

Even his minor writings, like “On Women,” are insightful and important.

I made a pilgrimage to his grave, once, which I must sometime do again. Our greatest misfortune is that we have no men of his caliber alive today.

Blacks fit perfectly into the exciting lover cliché and …

I don’t think this is right. Not much data data but according to my experiences, when asked white females say they don’t like black males because their smell is too strong (as in armpit odour), which creates a biologically-motivated rejection, turn-off (incidentally, playing football with blacks has the same kind of problem). I’ve had a few instances of sex with black females and they too smell too strongly although a few of them managed to hide it. This is the kind of petty thing that causes speciation in evolutionary dynamics.

  104. Levtraro says

What is interesting, and difficult to explain in terms of evolutionary theory, is that East Asian girls like positively effeminate men, skinny, smooth shaven, with soft, feminine features. I wonder what that’s about.

Asian females seem to be selecting for bigger headed offspring, which is in turn correlated with less body hair.

  106. Except unlike the Mouse Utopia experiment, we don’t have an “externally controlled” environment. Any idiocy is again, swiftly punished, perhaps in more numbers, but the meat grinder called evolution marches on.

Plus, didn’t it turn out that the mouse utopia got all fucked because the mice were exposed to too much piss pheromones which screwed with their heads?

  107. Well yes. What I describe is exactly that – the most extreme form of right wing accelerationist transhumanism there is, albeit at that point they’re both the same fundamentally.

Right wing “inhumanism” is faster, though. No holds barred, we wait for nobody. The end result is still nice – a powerful humanity free of most needs and without the flaws to go decadent as a result, but the way of getting there is far far more torturous.

  108. Levtraro says

Not sure about it. All lifeforms on Earth depend on vast subsidies and yet they prosper and adapt. Vast subsidies are in the very nature of life. External subsidies are so large that plants need not develop an efficient system of collecting those subsidies, they just settled for a very, very inefficient system (photosynthesis) and here we are. Over-abundance was not the cause of the collapse in Calhoun’s experiments, it was over-population and the deterioration of social role learning and acquisition, including those necessary to mate and reproduce.

  109. True, white woman like to fornicate with blacks but rarely choose blacks for mariage or as father for child, the same is for asian woman. On the other side of coin interracial mariages shrinks already small pool of good male partners for black females. Black womans have every reason to be against interracial propaganda.

We should eliminate these pretty geographical differences in the English language, and then fork it on more rational grounds into two new languages: Based (which we will still call English) and Pozzed.

Under the new system, if you search for fiction in English (ENG), it will have all the pozzed references removed and replaced with based references. Movies will have scenes cut or be overdubbed, to remove poz.

  111. Skyrocketing rates of mental illness would say otherwise.

Are there really skyrocketing rates of mental illness? I’m inclined to think that it’s just gradually become more socially acceptable to admit to mental illness. And it’s become fashionable to have a mental illness.

It’s possible that the skyrocketing rates of mental illness among women are like the skyrocketing rates of bisexuality among women – to a large extent it’s just a small subset of women trying to be fashionable by claiming to have mental illnesses or claiming to be bisexual. These things are mostly confined to the young and young people like getting attention.

In a lot of cases it’s a young woman just dealing with the normal upsets and bewilderments of growing up. OMG my boyfriend broke up with me and I cried a lot. That means I now have a history of mental illness. Just as it’s often a case of OMG I saw another girl naked and noticed she had a nice bottom, I’m clearly bisexual now.

Is this the first time AK’s comment section catches an specimen of this kind?

Let’s annoy Laxa some more. From Jim (I know, I know):

    Make women property again

… Women reproduce most successfully as property, men least successfully as property, and their behavior makes no sense unless you understand this.

As I have so often repeated: If a man is defeated, conquered and subdued, perhaps because his tribe and country is conquered and subdued, he is unlikely to reproduce. If a woman is defeated, conquered and subdued, she has escaped from defect/defect equilibrium, escaped from prisoner’s dilemma, and also been transferred from weak men and a weak tribe to strong men and a strong tribe, and is therefore likely to be highly successful at reproducing.

Women are always shit testing you. That is why they are so disruptive and destructive in the work place. But they are not really playing to win. They are playing to be subdued by a strong man.

Women are incapable of performing sexually, of enjoying sex, or even of performing the courtship dance, unless they are at least a little bit dominated and intimidated. Not all women are into outright bondage and beatings, but all women without exception are into subtler forms of domination and submission. All women are like that. No woman will get it on with a man that she is not afraid of. No Women Are Like That. They just physically do not respond unless they feel that they could be compelled. …

Women have not been subject to selective pressures on their sexual behavior since we looked rather like apes, because populations that allowed woman sexual choice disappeared. The men were disinclined to invest in children, or defend land.

… the sexual nature of women is maladapted to emancipation, that emancipation prevents them from reproducing and makes them unhappy.

That women need to be property, for the good of society, and because each of them is individually seeking a man strong enough to make her property, that men need to make them property, is the best shibboleth to organize around.

The largest difference between men and women is inside. We pursue very different reproductive strategies, which shapes everything we do in life.

The evil form of this strategy is players and bitches, defect/defect equilibrium, the lek mating pattern. The virtuous form of this strategy is husband and wife, marriage 1.0, eighteenth century marriage, which is now illegal. All happy families are quietly and furtively eighteenth century. All happy families are alike. There is only one way that works, only one form of cooperate/cooperate equilibrium between men and women. Women and dogs need a master, and are never happy if they lack a master, will always behave very badly if they think they are the alpha of the pack.

Proscribing honor killing is unwise, because good men will engage in honor killing anyway (there is always a handy swamp or ocean) and because you are pressuring men to adopt the player strategy so that they will not feel the compulsion to kill adulterers.

If state, church, society, and family, do not impose strong control over women’s sexual and reproductive choices, we get defect/defect equilibrium, resulting in failure to reproduce and dysgenic reproduction, and resulting in only a small minority of men getting all the pussy, thus demotivating the vast majority of men. If you own a woman, you want a nice house and a nice garden. […] The third world peasant with a wife and children has a much larger, more comfortable, and more attractive living space with nicer furniture than the first world webmaster in his little box, because the involuntary celibate, despite his affluence, does not care about his space and his furniture.

  113. Mitleser says

I would replace “liberal women” with feminists.
After all, feminist men show the same lack of solidarity towards their fellow men.

In January, local media reported that the Ministry of Economy and Finance had instructed state-owned firms and government organisations to no longer consider military service – which Korean men must undergo for at least two years – when promoting employees.

Then in February, a proposal to limit the number of men in the national legislature to 60 per cent was put forward by 11 ruling party members and one independent politician. About 81 per cent of seats in South Korea’s National Assembly are currently occupied by men.

“These policies fuel the anger of many Korean men in their 20s,” said Jin Seok-won, a 29-year-old Democratic Party supporter.
“They have a victim mentality against women because military duty, which is around two years long and takes place in harsh environments, is compulsory for most men but not for women,” he said.

“I think the younger generations feel hopeless,” said Lee Jong-hoon, a 36-year-old who voted for Oh in the by-election. “The government failed in most policies: the reconciliation gesture with North Korea didn’t really help our living standards, gender policies don’t attract support from men, and housing is harder than ever.
Many young men say they hate male politicians in their 40s and 50s, who have enjoyed privileges as men and promote feminism policies to get women’s votes,” he added.

[Park Sun-mi, a 28-year-old lawyer] rejected the notion that modern Korean society is somehow harsher on men than women. “I think the financial burden on men and women is almost equal nowadays,” she said. “It’s just that women care about more various issues than men do when voting on elections.”

Or are you saying that no one in Globohomo chose to pressure a black celebrity to say something he doesn’t actually believe?

Inasmuch as most celebrities are actors/performers, they say things they don’t actually believe all day long. This is their profession, so to speak.

    For resolving disputes, Kleros. https://kleros.io/assets/whitepaper.pdf

In principle, resolution via Kleros court in the event of a dispute can be hard coded into a smart contract. This might become an increasingly attractive proposition if rule of law continues to deteriorate, as a juror you would be hard pressed to vote along politicized lines if you have actual money on the line as the penalty for rendering bad judgments. I view Kleros as “exit” in one of its purest and most beautiful forms.

For example, an early claim about bitcoin was that it was completely anonymous.

I don’t know who was claiming it was purely anonymous. It is about as anonymous as you want it to be. For instance, I have a public Bitcoin address. If you send me money there, it would be pretty obvious it belongs to me to investigators. It would also be obviously me if I sent it to another address, at least without first washing that Bitcoin. Even if I send to some other person, his identity can still be tracked down via social graph analysis. In cases where the “heat” is high, all the Facebooks, Twitters, mobile data providers, etc. will closely cooperate with law enforcement. It is about as anonymous as the effort you put into making it so. If you keep your crypto in cold wallets, rigorously use VPN, only transact through privacy coins or at least wash them through mixers/tumblers, then your chances of being identified decrease drastically.

Yes, I understand that Ethereum and others do apparently achieve the anonymity that bitcoin promised but failed to deliver.

Nope, Ethereum isn’t any innately any more private than Bitcoin. All transactions can be tracked through https://etherscan.io/.

Crypto isn’t meant to be private by default (unless it is specifically designed for that, like Monero), this is a pretty niche application. Its strength is that it allows pseudonymous but publicly verifiable transactions. This has powerful applications. To take one random example, this allows DAO’s (e.g. charities, research foundations) to be very transparent about their operations and accountable to their donors. Something like Rushton’s theft from the Pioneer Fund would be much less imaginable if its assets had been held in an open source DAO with a decentralized governance mechanism: https://www.unz.com/akarlin/rushton-and-pioneer-fund/

Similarly, I want decentralized social media to succeed to break the power of the tech monopoly censors, but looking at the structure of things like Urbit, they seem designed in to make anonymity precarious.

Urbit offers good pseudonymity so far as I can tell. But the onus is on users to practice good opsec (for those who need it). For instance, if the planet you use is attached to a wallet that you also use to solicit donations for your blogging or which hosts an ENS name that is tied to you, then you are not going to stay private if people start digging. Likewise if you send Bitcoin from a KYC exchange to your Bitcoin wallet on Urbit. With crypto, you have to take personal responsibility for your own financial and information security. That’s just the price of freedom.

Maybe, maybe not, but they can certainly try constrain the crypto-to-cash nexus (if you can’t trade crypto for real world things you actually need, then its value is limited).

Yes, fiat ramps on and off are the main constricting factor keeping crypto “grounded” within IRL institutions. Governments will not let go of their monopoly over monetary emissions within their own borders. I expect national currencies to remain dominant in commercial transactions within countries. However, it will be very difficult for governments to ban international crypto assets. It requires global coordination from the main economic blocs (the US, EU, China) and totalitarian-level control to effectively enforce.

Yeah, I agree it is not a matter of fitting “perfectly into the exciting lover cliché”, though there is some attempt to manufacture this by globohomo (e.g., heavily promoted Bridgerton series). In reality, most non-black-woman+black-man relationships fall into one of

    1) “Jungle fever”: a kind of base lust for animalistic, uninhibited, potentially violent or criminal sexual domination. This is distinct from the “exciting lover cliché” which though it involves dominance, also involves sophistication, refinement and affluence (e.g., romance novel cover pictures). Women in this category tend to be more promiscuous and degenerate than average.

    2) “Social justice” or “laying down her body for the movement”: involves a belief that the woman is idealistically achieving a larger social goal somehow, by bestowing herself upon the “unjustly oppressed”. Women in this category tend to be more middle class, intellectual/neurotic than average.

    3) Evo misfits or “bioleninist”: women who can’t get a mate within their own race accepting even a passing black mating in order to patch over their lack of suitability/fitness. Women in this category exhibit above average obesity, ugliness, and/or mental/emotional problems. Also, women in this category, with globohomo assistance, almost always try to pretend they are in one of the other, less dreadful, categories.

    4) Same old reasons as any other relationship: sometimes two people find mutual attraction irrespective of race. It happens. It happens more with “black” men who are actually mulattos/quadroons/octoroons, or with higher class Africans.

Which categories predominate varies by time and place. 1 and 3 are more common in proletarian areas, 2 and 4 more common in bourgeois areas. All categories are more common wherever globohomo propaganda has inundated.

Instead of commenting on fences you should write an op-ed piece and send it to your national newspaper warning about the impending disaster.

  130. china-russia-all-the-way says

I see two problems in your thinking.

    1. You won’t recognize cause and effect. Lukashenko rigged the election and in your opinion, he is a clown. OK, but really your judgments about the wickedness of people are beside the point. Any government, good or bad, does not kindly respond to an attempt to overthrow them sponsored by foreign powers. Regardless of your low opinion of the Belarus government, it is being willfully ignorant to not see the Iraqi refugees thrown by them at your border as a direct response to Lithuanian support for regime change in Belarus. The idea that this is an attempt by Lukashenko to earn side income is ridiculous. It is a national strategic maneuver.

    2. Optimistic assumptions about where the refugees will end up. For planning, it’s not wise to count on risky assumptions like assuming the thousands of refugees will almost all end up somewhere else in Europe. You should be at least moderately pessimistic for sound planning. I believe the other EU countries will be very reluctant to accept refugees stuck now in Lithuania. They will instead try to pay Lithuania to maintain the refugees camps. The refugees may get used to being in Lithuania even if it is lower income than other EU countries. The EU will further try to fund and encourage integration of the refugees in the years to come in Lithuania. It’s seemingly contradcitory but although the EU doesn’t want to see the refugees move further west, the EU does want to help kindle a multi-racial society in Lithuania. After reading Unz.com, you have come to realize Brussels is zealous about encouraging multi-racial societies?

Didn’t coppicing exist for many hundreds of years before “Europe’s spring into scientific preeminence”?

Thousands of years before, but I view it as an additive, but perhaps necessary, factor.

Of course, the biggest factor was the agricultural revolution – though we must acknowledge that it was at least in small measure due to coppicing: potassium fertilizer is pulled from ashes. And naturally it was used in housing all those extra people, but my thinking is more along the lines of chemistry. Tanning, and iron made by using charcoal, etc. Mycorrhizae help trees pull a lot of minerals from the soil.

And didn’t Europe’s spring into scientific preeminence occur in times and places without coppicing, such as cities, and North America and Russia where wood is so freely available that no one bothers to coppice?

Though both the US and Russia have made tremendous contributions to science, I think we can put both aside as being latecomers and not at the center or the start of things. Mendeleev didn’t publish his periodic table until like 1869 – quite a long time after Lavoisier lost his head.

As to cities, they are fed by the country. So there would be various feeder stocks from coppicing flowing into them. Charcoal, lime, etc,

Are SJWs the icebreakers of Communism or its grave-diggers?

If an SJW adopts this kind of position:

All differences in outcomes between racial groups must be down to unjust power relations and oppression, and any explanation of them in other terms is privilege preserving push back by the oppressors or their (unwitting) allies.

It seems likely that they would have to try to explain the different outcomes experienced by easily identifiable sub-groups existing within any single racial group the same way.

This is an important part of most Communist theories of class inequality.

So it looks like advocates of CRT/Wokeism are advocates of some form of Communism at one remove. Probably their claims don’t make a lot of sense outside of this underlying worldview.

They are not likely to be supporters of ‘Bureaucratic Socialism’ as exemplified by the USSR, the New Left forerunners of Wokeism castigated this kind of thing. Instead the liberated society of the future will have to be based on the new revolutionary class suggested by Marcuse in the 60s; student activists, oppressed minority groups, an enlightened elite to guide them in the spontaneous construction of non-bureaucratic socialism. More Mao, more black lesbians, less Lenin.

We can guess that this society, wholly freed by student activists, LGBTQ and ethnic minority activists from the restraints of white supremacist bureaucratic economics and the dictatorship of heteronymous bourgeois interests will definitely be something to look forward to.

  140. I can agree that Dyson Spheres and such don’t necessarily ever happen even if you settle the whole galaxy. Maybe aliens decide it’s not worth the trouble, too costly, too easily sabotaged. But visiting and colonizing Earth — I continue to think there’s simply no way it wouldn’t happen sooner or later, if aliens already had settled a large number of stars.

Unless you want to assume FTL travel and technology, then any interstellar alien “government” is necessarily going to be a much-weaker version of the UN or League of Nations. It wouldn’t have the means to enforce a travel-ban to Earth, even if it had the will to keep that ban in place for eternity.

But honestly, for those same reasons, one thought is that aliens would never bother to spread beyond a single star, even if they could. What’s the benefit? It would be enormously expensive, the number of colonists would be tiny, and you couldn’t tax that colony. And while it could be an ally in a war against another existential threat, it’s more likely that it will just become a rival power that could potentially send a fleet to one day try to wipe you out, out of some paranoid game theory calculation.

So I think the only reasons for interstellar colonization are basically sentimental, and I don’t know that any civilization bothers to go through the trouble. And if it does, maybe they decide it’s not worth the trouble to go any further after doing it once or twice and seeing how much pain it generates, for so little reward.

  141. So I think the only reasons for interstellar colonization are basically sentimental,

Right, if the civilization is capable of interstellar travel, it likely has everything that it needs (or can create it) right at home. Why bother?

  142. But visiting and colonizing Earth — I continue to think there’s simply no way it wouldn’t happen sooner or later, if aliens already had settled a large number of stars.

I don’t think that Oklahoma or the American West is necessarily the right analogy. Today, there are still uncontacted tribes in the Brazilian rain forest, and I think there is basically an embargo on contacting the Andamanese. To be sure, both groups have seen outsiders in one form or another (ex: planes), but the point is that they haven’t been totally destroyed. And, naturally, aliens would be harder to observe.

Unless you want to assume FTL travel and technology, then any interstellar alien “government” is necessarily going to be a much-weaker version of the UN or League of Nations.

I think space travel is a filter for cooperation which means that psychology will tend to converge – esp. true if it is just one group spreading out. If intelligence is rare, there will be a powerful drive to observe us (a primitive society), without contacting us.

I think this will manifest at the state level of our nearest advanced neighbor. Probably that would create a substantial obstacle to crazies trying to contact us.

  143. So I think the only reasons for interstellar colonization are basically sentimental

Pretty much. Certainly the only reasons for interstellar colonisation are irrational and emotional. Maybe there are aliens who are even more irrational and emotional than humans. Is such a thing possible? Maybe all intelligent life forms have to be irrational and emotional, so trying to figure out what they might do based on rationality might be a mistake.

  144. silviosilver says

Certainly the only reasons for interstellar colonisation are irrational and emotional.

The sun will not last forever, so in the extremely distant future it will be either interstellar or bust. The “emotion” prompting the determination to go interstellar at that point will be the desire to live on rather than die out. I’m sorry if you find that “irrational.”

  145. Based and hyperbifurcationist pilled.

  146. This text is “true” in theory – as in the signs, or the “symptomatic” part, but utterly fails to see the actual reason behind this.

Women are naturally paranoid. Extremely low-trust. You can see it in the way that the most woke and rabid sjws will criticize their colleague for being a bit chubby behind their backs when she’s away. Yet they’re also hyperconformist. But I get away from the crux, and that is the paranoia.

A long, long time ago, when the men went out to hunt, the women, children and the old/sick stayed behind in the village. They have decent numbers, but they aren’t particularly strong. Logically, they’re going to be extremely vigilant, because if they don’t notice the band of the neighboring tribe coming to raid them, well, they’ll probably get killed, or enslaved (probably the former).

Hence, if you as a male can’t “shut off” your girl’s paranoia – you’re not doing a good job as a man. There’s no “big bad conqueror with a big dick,” just “can you provide safety and security to your family?”

  147. Assuming interstellar travel is extremely difficult and costly, you’re talking about dozens, hundreds, or thousands of aliens leaving the planet, and the other many billions dying anyway, and making large sacrifices to pay for the others to leave.

I’m not really attracted to this idea of the survival of the human race by any means necessary, and I don’t think it’s especially rational if your own immediate progeny aren’t included. If it were a matter of 100 human beings (selected by our beloved elites) leaving the planet while the rest of us slave away to pay for it, or all of us dying together, I’d definitely vote for dying together.

  148. Well, I don’t think that any project that’s irrational and that requires major sacrifices on the part of people can survive for long. You can have government agencies that serve an irrational purpose and that cost 1% or 2% of GDP every year, and people can overlook it basically forever. But if a project costs 50% of GDP per year, and it’s expected to take 20 years to make any sort of tangible progress, people are going to notice and not stand for it for long.

Most likely, if human beings were pretty certain we had the ability to achieve interstellar colonization, at massive expense, then there would be an international agency dedicated to the project, kind of like the ISS or CERN. It would be big on talk but never accomplish anything. If the estimated cost to build a colony on Alpha Centauri were $100 trillion, then such an agency might have a budget of $25 billion, most of which would go to salaries for bureaucrats and scientists (with considerable diversity requirements) to draw up plans and hold conferences, and to lobby for more funding, but nothing useful would ever be built.

  149. silviosilver says

We’ve got literally millions of years to play with. In that extremely distant future, it may not be such an expensive undertaking at all. And it wouldn’t up to any one generation to “decide” on anyway.

  150. I don’t think that Oklahoma or the American West is necessarily the right analogy. Today, there are still uncontacted tribes in the Brazilian rain forest, and I think there is basically an embargo on contacting the Andamanese.

The closest thing to an Earthly analogy to interstellar colonization is probably the Polynesian settlement of the Pacific. But I see where you’re going with Oklahoma: I think my problem with the “uncontacted peoples” analogy is that right now, no one cares about this land. And yet, how long has there been a policy of leaving these places alone? And still people visit them periodically. You have to assume an awful lot of consistency on the part of the aliens over the millennia, to leave Earth alone for so long.

I think this will manifest at the state level of our nearest advanced neighbor. Probably that would create a substantial obstacle to crazies trying to contact us.

I do like this idea though. Perhaps we can imagine that the aliens of Alpha Centauri have a quasi-religious dedication to never allowing anyone to reach Earth. They’re close enough to us, and they can spot possible intruders from far enough away, that they could dispatch an intercepting force capable of dealing with anyone else that tries to harass Earth.

I don’t think it’s the most likely scenario, but it’s fun to think about.

  151. If interstellar travel isn’t costly, then all bets are off. But under that scenario, I have to think it’s inevitable that a civilization would fill up the galaxy, which takes us back to the question of how Earth has been permanently left alone for eternity when even a momentary lapse in the aliens’ non-interference policy would result in either our extinction or our awareness of aliens.

It makes a lot more sense for interstellar aliens to leave us alone if going to other stars requires massive effort that only a planetary government can achieve, and that such governments see very little benefit for doing so.

  152. Morton's toes says

We ain’t going to get a vote Wency. : (

Death is pretty damn depressing. Is anybody hear a fan of Djokovic? The man is putting on a stellar display!

  153. silviosilver says

which takes us back to the question of how Earth has been permanently left alone

It’s not a question I’ve ever been concerned with forming a definite opinion about, given all the variables in play. I will say that it’s always struck me as weird that people are perfectly willing to believe that we may be the only intelligent lifeform in the universe, but much less willing to believe that we may be the most technologically advanced lifeform. Personally, I just can’t see why aliens are necessarily supposed to be more advanced than us, or necessarily more advanced enough to have already developed means of interstellar transport.

None of that is really relevant to my point of “interstellar or bust” though. The inability to definitively explain why aliens haven’t beaten us to it is not going to be the critical obstacle to interstellar travel.

It makes a lot more sense for interstellar aliens to leave us alone if going to other stars requires massive effort that only a planetary government can achieve, and that such governments see very little benefit for doing so.

If it makes sense to you that they wouldn’t give much consideration to a “benefit” like securing their species’ survival, I guess you and I are already on different planets.

Yes. This idea of ensuring the survival of the species by saving a tiny handful people through interstellar travel is a weird obsession with science fiction fans and tech geeks. I don’t think it’s an idea that would have any appeal to anyone who is normal.

  155. I will say that it’s always struck me as weird that people are perfectly willing to believe that we may be the only intelligent lifeform in the universe, but much less willing to believe that we may be the most technologically advanced lifeform.

Isn’t time the crucial factor? Even if the evolution of intelligent life is fairly common, and even if the development of advanced technological civilisations is fairly common, the odds against more than one advanced technological civilisation existing at the same moment in time would be very high.

Of course much depends on what the lifespan of advanced technological civilisations is. It seems like likely that such civilisations would be extremely short-lived, maybe a few thousand years at the most. By that time they will be so short of natural resources that collapse would be inevitable. Which would make the odds against more than one advanced technological civilisation existing at the same moment in time incredibly high.

Given the likelihood that advanced technological civilisations are short-lived it seems silly to worry about what we’re going to do when the sun burns out.

  156. silviosilver says

By the time we’re ready to attempt interstellar travel, humans will have already expanded waaaaay beyond planet Earth. At that point, attempting to migrate to entire new star systems will probably not seem all that strange to “normal” people. (We can’t even predict what “normal” will mean in a hundred years, let alone a thousand or ten thousand or a million – although perhaps you don’t imagine we’ll last even that long.)

  157. silviosilver says

it seems silly to worry about what we’re going to do when the sun burns out.

Don’t worry, it’s not keeping me awake at night. On the other hand, I don’t know about you, but there’s something about the idea of my kind living on, potentially permanently, that appeals to the sentimental fool in me, so when the “issue” pops up, it’s only natural that I’ll voice this opinion.

  166. I have to think that a hypothetical far-future human civilization would be a weird technological hybrid, with advanced technologies existing alongside more resource/energy-efficient pre-industrial ones, and an obsessive interest in recycling, reuse, and reclamation of resources. I also wonder if a society that relies almost entirely on solar power might seem futuristic during the day and medieval at night. At dusk, the power goes out for all but essential state services and VIPs. During the day, the trains run, but at night to get anywhere as a non-VIP in an unlit city, you need to go by foot or bicycle.

Certain advanced technologies are too useful in both interpersonal and interstate competition to really ever disappear — if anyone in the world preserves them, then all the world will. People aren’t going to go back to fighting wars with clubs or spears, just as people are never going to abandon agriculture. I even think people will keep going to space — satellites are too useful. But going to Mars or the asteroid belt would seem even more far-fetched than it does today.

  167. silviosilver says

Everyone is planning against this, one way or another, knowing or not.

I don’t think you possess any special insight into it, but even if you were 100% correct, it just doesn’t matter very much what the present generation thinks or is doing. Between now and a million years from now, we could experience a dozen near complete extinctions and our destiny could still be to reach the stars. A million years is simply a very, very, very, very, very, very long time – and we have several hundred million to play with.

  168. silviosilver says

Have you really never heard of energy storage technologies? Or do you just assume that none of them will ever pan out? I think the latter is an unaccountably pessimistic view, given what has already been demonstrated and that we’ve only just recently even begun trying.

  169. It’s kinda like saying it’s impossible for jet airplanes to carry obese housewives across the Atlantic because it’s impossible for obese housewives to survive 33,000 ft up in the air. Technically true but thats not really how it works.

Sure we won’t have “a million people people on Mars by 2050” or whatever, but space expansion is cheapest, safest, and easiest colonization program in human history.

No space program has 80%+ death rates of Magellan expeditions, a decent orbital supply depot costs about $2 trillion which is less than US Federal Government annual budget deficit, and we are quite mature and capable technologically unlike medieval explorers who had to confront impossible problems like Sea Demons, impossible because Sea Demons proved to be not real. But they didn’t know it at the time.

Anyway, it’s happening. And I would say, sooner rather than later.

  170. Well, to be sure, my view on technology is that it’s plateauing. I don’t believe in any singularities. The population of high-IQ human beings (let’s say, IQ>130) has probably already peaked for at least the next few centuries (until the AOMI kicks in, at least), even as technological challenges are increasingly difficult to solve. In addition, societies are going to become quite a bit more dysfunctional, which is usually a bad recipe for technological progress.

Technology will probably still improve, on the margin, for at least another century or two, but each decade will continue to be slower than the last (as has been the case since at least 1970), until we return to a pre-industrial condition of technological progress not really being perceptible in the typical person’s lifetime. I think there finally will come a point where technological progress hits a wall, when advancing the frontier is so difficult that no one can really do it, and instead technology will ebb and flow based on whether civilization is in a dark age or golden age.

Batteries and other solar energy storage solutions will get quite a bit better than they are now, but it’s not like they’ll get 100x better. I expect solar energy storage is always going to be a very costly decision, and I don’t think energy and mineral-deprived far-future Malthusian societies will be all that inclined to do it on a mass scale, just to facilitate consumption amongst the peasantry.

  171. Working against a neighboring country’s government is bad, but flooding a neighboring European country with non-Europeans is far worse. Lukashenko’s nihilistic scheme, whose consequences can last for generations, is far worse than anything Lithuania has done.

There would probably be oases of high tech in a deindustrialized desert. The high tech enclaves will be few and rare between, they will be more advanced than what we have today, but will be under stringent control (smart city panopticum, human anthill). These high tech city people would enjoy the pleasure and endure the stress of the post fourth industrial revolution society. They will be posthuman.

The majority of legacy humans, who would have avoided the twenty-first century depopulation bottleneck, would live without access to high technology at a level compatibile with the second half of the nineteenth century, like the Amish. The total human population will be well balanced against the biosphere resilience. It will be the Golden Age that would last millenia, a plateau, a stasis before the humanity finally exits the scene. Another intelligent species lost in Space and Time, unable to cross the Great Filter because of their mental and moral inadequacy. Euthanized by their Benevolent Masters.

  173. There is nothing on the surface of Mars that will fund the lift cost of getting a fragile human meat sack back into orbit safely.

On the surface of Mars, I agree. But what about them lava tubes? If deep interior is of interest, there’s only so much you will be able to do with robots – it’s a much more complex environment. Depending on how interesting things are, there may be a need for a lot of scientists, and those scientists will need support etc.

If a large number of humans go to space, the most likely destination is the Asteroid Belt. All sorts of resources are available without a gravity lift cost.

That, and the moons of Jupiter, are the ultimate goal, yes.

It’s probably an unwise motivation unless there’s a chance that the colony will be either self-sufficient or profitable. If that’s not the case the colonists could find themselves left high and dry if the governments or corporations on whom they’re relying to keep the colony supplied grow tired of subsidising a colony that offers them no actual benefits.

I was just thinking how there may have been some political suggestions by sci-fi publishers, way back in the 1970s. How it is a weird coincidence that many authors of that time inserted race, seemingly apropos of nothing. Even Saberhagen who on the surface might seem somewhat conservative, went out of the way to say that a space admiral fighting the Berserkers looked like a Brazilian.

And maybe, it goes further back. Jules Verne basically retconned Nemo into being an Indian, when 20,000 Leagues seems to make it pretty clear that he was not one. It was his publisher who suggested it, IIRC.

Virgin Galactic I think is trying to sell seats on their launcher platform, which strikes as very optimistic – I don’t see the attraction of getting exposed to high altitude radiation, and not even going on the rocket.

My view is that “progressive” technological change, on the scale of the world system and at the speed of the last century or two, is a one-off phenomenon.

What is more lasting is an Eurasian cycle of catastrophe that occurs every 3-4 centuries, mainly because there is a fundamental mismatch between carrying capacity and demographics (basically the Malthusian idea), but also possibly involving political will of the dominant power.

This cycle used to be unsynchronized between major parts of Eurasia (the Crisis of the Third Century and Three Kingdoms of China coinciding with the Guptas and Sassanids; European Dark Ages and weakening Tang with Arab/Islamic Caliphate). The first crisis affecting the whole of Eurasia was brought by Genghis Khan, which connected Eurasia and brought on Malthusian crises and demographic collapses everywhere except India (effects of the Black Death included). The next one was in the 17th and early 18th century, where all dominant powers in Eurasia were afflicted, but little political factor outside of state rivalry was

We’re seeing the starting point of another crisis, now global in scope, that is rooted in the declining return to technological innovation, but more importantly initiated by a neo-Malthusian elite who want to dismantle institutions supporting a high, technologically derived level of carry capacity. This can kill off the phenomenon of technological “progression” and discredit it completely, if the remaining elites don’t restrict the availability of technologies or prosecute technological innovation after the crisis.

Judging in retrospect, even if Detrot was 3 rd largest USA city then, it still was just a local level crisis, not a countrywide disaster, but I can’t get the grasp about SA situation in that regard so far – can the whole country go down in flames because of that or is it relatively just local disaster? Are you familiar with Turchin’s theories of secular cycles? If not, you might find those interesting.

We’re seeing the starting point of another crisis, now global in scope,

Agree also. As I’ve said before here, I believe China is decadent/exhausted in many of the same ways that America is, it’s just not quite so far along, and it will experience it differently. But its present civilizational moment does not resemble that of past “hungry” civilizations that were about to explode from obscurity to global hegemony. Which doesn’t mean it won’t become the most powerful nation on Earth, but it’s also not about to become the Mongol Empire.

that is rooted in the declining return to technological innovation, but more importantly initiated by a neo-Malthusian elite who want to dismantle institutions supporting a high, technologically derived level of carry capacity.

I’m not sure I understand the second half of your sentence, but I agree partly with the first (except I think there are many causes, some technological, some not). Another way to put your first point: industrialized civilization had grown accustomed to a Whiggish view of history, where technological progress is expected to translate to progress on all fronts. Americans, in particular, were accustomed to the idea that each generation had it better than the last. This narrative started collapsing, for Americans, with the technological deceleration of the the 1970s.

But the other technological root of the crisis is that the recent rapid technological progress has outpaced the ability of human culture and biology to adapt. The results are deracination, atomization, hedonism, anxiety, listlessness, faithlessness, childlessness, and loneliness. And the truth is that entertainment technologies (which have represented much of the progress of recent decades) have been more damaging in this regard than productivity-enhancing technologies (which drove the initial industrial revolution). Though both caused their dislocations and disruptions.

Technology has us caught in a pincer, of sorts, where we’re still getting burned by recent technological progress (and the full damage of social media won’t be felt until Gen Z is old), while future technological progress has very little hope to offer us.

Nothing here is very surprising, except it is probably the first time that highest level non-public modern RF official paper docs were copied and leaked, if those are indeed real:

Vladimir Putin personally authorised a secret spy agency operation to support a “mentally unstable” Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election during a closed session of Russia’s national security council, according to what are assessed to be leaked Kremlin documents.

The key meeting took place on 22 January 2016, the papers suggest, with the Russian president, his spy chiefs and senior ministers all present.

They agreed a Trump White House would help secure Moscow’s strategic objectives, among them “social turmoil” in the US and a weakening of the American president’s negotiating position.

Russia’s three spy agencies were ordered to find practical ways to support Trump, in a decree appearing to bear Putin’s signature.

Kind of a joke on my part, kind of a nod to collective reincarnation, though that usually happens on a species level, rather than a literal nation obviously.

Lithuania still has plenty of time in this life to figure itself out or ruin itself further. Like most peoples.

  201. Nope, but there is something good about people learning through suffering

You think that spoiling a pristine European place for eternity is worth it because those Europeans crossed a post-Soviet leader in 2021.

I’m excited for anyone, including my own land, getting its rightful comeuppance.

You deserve personally whatever shithole you live in, but your neighbors and Europeans certainly don’t deserve the fate you want for them.

    Disgusting.

  204. Take away women’s rights (state-level) & support Religious Authorities enforcing social order.

99% of your problems are gone.

The problem I have with this is that there is no society-wide general agreement on what those problems are that we currently face. There’s not even society-wide general agreement on whether some of those problems even exist.

Social problems are basically subjective. There never has been and never will be general agreement on what kind of society we should have. There is no objective truth on such issues.

The fact that social conservatives and religious traditionalists and nationalists perceive certain problems to exist does not prove that those problems actually exist. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that while certain social and cultural phenomena exist, the fact that social conservatives and religious traditionalists and nationalists see those things as problems does not prove that they really are problems.

You presumably think it’s a problem that traditional religious, social and cultural norms have largely collapsed in the West and you’re proposing drastic radical solutions in order to restore those traditional norms. But most people in the West do not want the kind of traditional society that you want. Those traditional norms collapsed because they no longer enjoyed widespread support. Most people in the West want a secular society.

Social conservatives, religious traditionalists and nationalists don’t seem to be able to accept that the drastic radical solutions that appeal to them could only be imposed by force on an unwilling population.

In the long term the solutions that have a chance of working have to be based on a realistic understanding of what people actually want.

  205. Boomthorkell says

America, baby! PACIFIC NORTHWEST FOR LIFE!

Oh, the fate I want for them is prosperity, peace, and a kind of happy, ethnically homogenous or traditional cosmopolitanism in diverse border regions kind of national populism. What I want doesn’t matter, though. What matters is the choices countries make, and the consequences of their actions.

Lithuania made poor choices crossing two post-Soviet dictators, in the same sense Poland made poor choices pissing off Nazi Germany and the USSR, and Khawerzim in beheading the Mongol diplomats (who were probably spies.) Poor choices beget poor consequences. This is natural. My country has made poor choices. I hate the consequences. They are, though, deserved in a cosmic sense.

Lithuania doesn’t have to be despoiled forever, of course. They could very easily round up and deport every single migrant who showed up. They would, of course, have to stop sucking up to Momma Merkel and the US to have such a ballsy Hungarian policy. I suspect though Lithuania’s leaders prefer despoilement to the horror of actually having to embrace the tough actions and choices of their oh-so-despised “illiberal” neighbors. I’m sure the city people are goodwhite enough to even celebrate their ascendancy to proper Western European Demographic Trends (assuming Breeders don’t pan out.)

I’m personally rooting for Lithuania though. I’d like them to discover sanity, leave the EU, boot out any migrants, and make good solid alliances with Russia. They could balance this with an alliance with Germany, too. If they remain a region of the EU, though, they don’t really get a say in things.

  206. Boomthorkell says

I’m well aware. So much so I know Russia doesn’t have an open border, and also lacks any real Central Asian Immigration overload issues.

I do not believe in any form of reincarnation, individually or collectively. Strictly speaking there is not a self (Atman) as the subject of reincarnation, the Hindu or folk-Buddhist way. But sure, what Lithuanians did in the 1700s manifested in 1800s Russian rule, and then interwar independence, then Soviet annexation, then being in EU and so on.

  208. Yellowface Anon says

    Yes, this.

Secularism wasn’t imposed, but it isn’t fully organic either, that is partly rooted in disorganized efforts to affect social expectations by a very large number of actors (centralized or not), and partly from the outcomes of social-economic transformation.

From a Tradcon view, the majority in the West have basically acquisced to their own extinction. What Tradcons should actually do is accept this, isolate themselves from the Zeitgeist, and rebuild once the modern masses are gone.

  209. Yellowface Anon says

My view is that, if your culture isn’t for immigrants, don’t take them and go the Hungarian way. If your culture is, accept them and go the Argentinean (that is late 19th century) way. You cannot have homogeneity and diversy at the same time, and the whole thing boils down to whether the predominant opinion wants one of the other, and if policies is in accord with it or not.

We are lucky most of our immigrants are either barely different (other than bring Mandarin-speaking and having social mores loosened by socialism), “expats” or brown maids we’ve set up as a lower caste. But we still stumble in calling our same-race immigrants “locusts” and build our Yelloe-Blue distinctions based on the views toward China (both of which are insane from an American ethnical perspective, and much closer to how WASPs saw Irish inmigrants)

  210. Lithuania belongs to a union that considers diversity to be strength, and wants the same for Belarus. How will the transhumanists in their Panopticon interact with the Global Amish? What is keeping the latter from redeveloping technology? Do the transhumanists send hit teams against promising Amish scientists, or do they subvert their governments to do the dirty work for them? How is the system of technological control/stasis done? Is it through some kind of theocracy, as in Weber’s Safehold series? How much of the late 20C/early 21C “Dreamtime” do the Amish remember? Do some of them resent their ancestors for not securing themselves a place in the Panopticon? And why would humanity exit the scene after a few millennia? What dark force, quietly growing its strength in the shadow, poses this existential threat?

  215. Lithuania belongs to a union that considers diversity to be strength, and wants the same for Belarus

    1. When it joined this was not what it was about (diversity at that time meant infra-European diversity), and within the Union Lithuania (like Poland and Hungary) is not one of the places pushing for this sort of thing. Adding places like Belarus or Ukraine to the EU would be the equivalent of America adding more Red states. Nothing bad about a Red state seeking to do this.

    2. Related to that, punishing Lithuania for bad decisions made by Paris or Berlin would be like punishing Texas for Biden’s presidency by sending all the Muslims “refugees” there, rather than to the states that actually voted for him.

    3. But – even sending “refugees” to such places like Minnesota, Germany or Sweden who in their well-meaning naivety would want them is nothing to celebrate. There is nothing good about ruining a nice place or celebrating the ruin. Doing so is the equivalent of gloating and experiencing satisfaction when some nice little old lady is robbed by the psychopath she foolishly allowed into her house because he told her he needed a drink of water.

I’m a Sikh, we already have a clearly laid out code and institutions for enforcing it, and are tbh.

Then why is Sikh TFR so low?

  217. Yellowface Anon says

That’s the plan, but it’s good to delve into this much further, whether as what we should expect or as a hypothetical scenario.

What is keeping the latter from redeveloping technology? Do the transhumanists send hit teams against promising Amish scientists, or do they subvert their governments to do the dirty work for them? How is the system of technological control/stasis done? Is it through some kind of theocracy, as in Weber’s Safehold series?

Simply use an anti-technological ideology to do the heavy-lifting (whether Deep Ecology, agrarian, agorism, etc.). Kill the desire to use technologies as a means to improve lives. As a failsafe, set a lock in technological products from 4IR states.

How much of the late 20C/early 21C “Dreamtime” do the Amish remember? Do some of them resent their ancestors for not securing themselves a place in the Panopticon

Quite a bit, but partly mythologicalized as a Manichean struggle between good primitive populists vs evil technological elites. They will look at the 4IR panopticons and conclude their lifestyle to be legitimate and they should never cross with everyone from those states, gain their technologies, etc. (we’re already seeing this with COVID vaccines)

And why would humanity exit the scene after a few millennia? What dark force, quietly growing its strength in the shadow, poses this existential threat?

Because the elites ultimately want a purely informational civilization, one populated by AI and spirits/consciousness uploaded to the cloud. The human form is disposable.
This is the force of Technology, the force behind the Freemasons, the Demiurge of the gnostics, the Serpent, the Devil and Mara.

Thanks for coming to my TEDX talk on “What comspiracy theorists think the World State wants”

  218. Yellowface Anon says

One interesting thing to add is that the Savage-Exiles (the “Amish”) will always say “next year in [wherever power center the 4IR elite is]”, but the opportunity will always be in the next year. This is one of the biggest motivations holding the Savage-Exiles together.

  219. Simply use an anti-technological ideology to do the heavy-lifting (whether Deep Ecology, agrarian, agorism, etc.).

There will be ideologues who will buy into it. But there will also be those who want to recreate the conveniences of the lives their ancestors once had. There will be commercial pressure for that, there are exceedingly few people who seriously want to live with 19C amenities (even off the grid survivalist types hook themselves up to satellite Internet, install solar panels, they obviously don’t manufacture their own guns or ammunition, etc). How do you deal with such upstarts who threaten this neo-Arcadian order?

They will look at the 4IR panopticons and conclude their lifestyle to be legitimate and they should never cross with everyone from those states, gain their technologies, etc. (we’re already seeing this with COVID vaccines)

The vast majority of people don’t die from Corona either way, and those who do die tend to be old, and old people die quite often anyway. However, if the Transhumanists have perfected radical life extension and are living for centuries, while the Global Amish are croaking like flies and not just in old age but in early childhood, I would imagine there would be quite a few envious eyes cast their way. Nothing that some informants, drones, contracts on the deep web, etc. can’t solve, I suppose.

Because the elites ultimately want a purely informational civilization, one populated by AI and spirits/consciousness uploaded to the cloud.

So they launch a technological singularity and “vanish” from the material realm? Do they genocide the Global Amish at that point? If so, why didn’t they do that in any of the previous millennia?

  220. even sending “refugees” to such places like Minnesota, Germany or Sweden who in their well-meaning naivety would want them is nothing to celebrate.

Immigrant (both “refugee” and economic/workers) situations and their histories are different enough for both America and Europe, to be treated as two separate topics, IMHO. Immigrant processes have been part and parcel of America’s evolution from its very beginnings, whereas in Europe its been hoisted there more rather recently. Also, the Americas have had much more territory with which to contain more immigrants. Germany’s quest for more “lebensraum” during the 1940’s already indicated that ethnic Germans were seeking more living space. Ukrainian immigrants, especially from Western Ukraine, were being squeezed out for lack of sufficient arable land and looking for greater opportunities in Canada and the US. Germany has a much greater population today than it did in the last century.

  221. Boomthorkell says

    What’s your country?

  222. Boomthorkell says

I think Belarus was punishing Lithuania for bad decisions Lithuania made, namely accepting a flight by a wanted political threat. I mean, it’s the thing countries do. They shouldn’t, but it seems unfair only America and the EU get to do so. Maybe in the coming age when every country is actually afraid of the consequences of messing with someone else, they will stop. Pain will teach them when “principled” cheek turning would encourage them.

While I understand the attempt to compare here:

    1. That little old lady should have lived with a better family to keep her safe.
    2. Lithuania is not a little old woman, and would be offended by the comparison. They are a strong brave young man who singlehandedly overthrew the barbaric Russians and Mongols. (hah)

It’s a shame when places are ruined by the poor choices they make, and even innocents. Collectively though, no one is innocent, and we all pay for our sins.

As Supply and Demand keeps celebrating, America is slowly ruining the red states. Even I see their spiritual weakness. There is no compromise with evil, yet they compromise daily. My state simply wallows in it.

  223. Boomthorkell says

Oh, as far as actual countries, yeah. Though I think I would consider that more a single lifetime than reincarnation.

I think America is a new incarnation of the old Atlantis, and likely to go down the same way.

  224. Yes, I was going to reply to this that it sounded remarkably like a sci-fi story that I started 10 or 15 years ago but never finished, and I see potential in it for someone who’s a better writer than me.

My vision was basically that fertility can only be sustained, in the long run, by religious groups that are at least somewhat techno-skeptical. In the far future, the handful of highly advanced and highly fortified city-states are surrounded and vastly outnumbered by such groups. North America is mostly ruled by violent Anabaptists that have splintered from the Amish and merged with part of residual Christendom, fighting back amidst various anti-Amish persecutions inflicted by liberal society in the 21st-22nd centuries.

The various highly advanced city-states can’t reproduce themselves — while somewhat genetically enhanced, I didn’t see them as truly post-human, and it turns out that any forced breeding program fails in the long run, and they can never get cloning or artificial wombs to work out right and economically, so they have to periodically and selectively steal children from the Anabaptists. This, in turn, is sort of a check on would-be Anabaptist techno-heretics — any time they learn about an Anabaptist community starting to get heretical and explore science, it’s likely that many or most of its children will be abducted by the techno-states.

But the Anabaptists hate the techno-states with a passion and are always striving to destroy them, often applying ingenious means of trying to get around the vast technological gulf between them (and of course, they have the numbers). Most of the conflict is over resources, with the techno-states sending out massive war machine drones (I envisioned something like Sentinels from X-Men) to scavenge the countryside and the Anabaptists doing everything in their power to bring them down.

  225. Sounds fun, I’d read this story. I mean, if the city-states are really advanced, no reason they can’t genetically tinker to make their future generations more pro-natalism, but multiple avenues to explain that away.

If you have the time you might want to keep hacking at that story. So far as fiction writing goes, practice really does make perfect. It is often helpful to start off with short stories/vignettes set in your world to flesh out the characters and world-building before embarking on the novel proper.

  226. I think Belarus was punishing Lithuania for bad decisions Lithuania made, namely accepting a flight by a wanted political threat

Accepting a flight by a wanted political threat is not equivalent to flooding a country with Muslim “refugees.” It’s like saying someone deserved to be shot because he said something bad about the other person. The logic one sees in psychopaths (“he deserved it when I smashed his head in the floor and paralyzed him, he changed the TV channel, it’s the choice he made”).

I was neutral towards Lukashenko but after this act of terrorism he deserves to go.

  227. From a Tradcon view, the majority in the West have basically acquisced to their own extinction.

But paradoxically in the long run the survival of advanced technological civilisations almost certainly depends on having a much much much lower global population. So the current demographic collapse may be our only hope of survival.

Of course many Tradcons probably hope that advanced technological civilisations don’t survive, so we can go back to being dirt poor and living miserable lives but at least there’ll be lots of babies and the churches will be full. I don’t think that’s a vision of the future that most people would find attractive.

What Tradcons should actually do is accept this, isolate themselves from the Zeitgeist, and rebuild once the modern masses are gone.

The optimum solution would be for advanced technological secular civilisations, with relatively low populations, to survive and for Tradcons to have their own totally separate civilisations which wil presumably have high populations and low living standards.

  228. What people want is w/e the elites force on them.

I’m not totally convinced of that.

The kind of society we end up with is partly what the elites force on us, but it’s also partly what people want. It’s difficult to impose something on a population if it’s something that population really really doesn’t want.

And the kind of society we end up with is also partly a result of economic and technological forces that even the elites cannot control.

  229. Boomthorkell says

I see what you’re trying to say, and I disagree, but that’s fine.

Well, hopefully Lithuania decides the EU leadership need to go sooner, that way it will remain a moderately Lithuanian country. Alternatively, it could make good friends with Russia and Belarus, or evwn join the Eurasian Union, in which case, the chances of it ever being flooded by immigrants drops to 0.

  230. Russia is part of the Eurasian Union with Central Asia, and Lithuania is wealthier than Russia. Joining the Eurasian Union would mean Lithuania would see plenty of Central Asian and perhaps some Caucasian immigration.

Moscow (officially about 8% diverse, but in reality probably around 15% diverse) is strikingly less diverse than places such as New York, London, and Paris. But it is far more diverse than places like Warsaw, Vilnius or Kiev (1% diverse)

  231. Boomthorkell says

If they can stop Iraqis, they could stop legal Caucasians and Kazakhs (awfully presumptuous, though).

If they can’t stop and get rid of Iraqis, then it seems they would be better off as a part of the Eurasian Union.

I’m sure with improved economies and more African and Middle Eastern overflow, those cities will finally reach parity with their beloved western idols. Unlike Moscow, I’m sure they won’t settle for merely russified “Blacks” and Steppe Peoples.

  232. Warsaw is a bit more diverse than 1% I’d say, Poland has developed a sizable Indian diaspora. Which is fine, because I’m an Indophile, but still. Functionally, treating Ukrainians and the like as the POC they really are (like Russians), Warsaw would be about as diverse as Moscow.

Anyhow in the long-term the only thing that will matter is how many Blacks make their way in. The Middle East and Central Asia have mostly exhausted their demographic potential, SS Africa won’t until the late 21C.

  233. Warsaw is a bit more diverse than 1%

The 1% referred to Kiev, but wiki suggests that Warsaw is in that neighborhood also. Can’t imagine it being above 5%.

Functionally, treating Ukrainians and the like as the POC they really are (like Russians), Warsaw would be about as diverse as Moscow.

LOL, that’s true. Warsaw may be 10%-15% Ukrainian + Belarussian.

  234. If they can stop Iraqis, they could stop legal Caucasians and Kazakhs (awfully presumptuous, though).

Not if they are part of the Eurasian Union. Would be odd to build a wall with Belarus and Russia in the case.

Lithuania is building a wall with Belarus in order to deal with the surprising and sick terroristic tactic of Lukashenko to fly Iraqis into Belarus and then send them to the Lithuanian border. I guess they will now to stuck in Belarus?

    Islam in Europe:

Note the fully European-Christian zone in the middle. Lukashenko chose to essentially be the first to shit in the clean swimming pool.

(don’t take the analogy to the point where Islam is equated to feces, Islamic countries can also be contaminated by non-Muslims who disturb their lands, but you get the point)

  235. Boomthorkell says

Well, if their bet with the EU ends up with them being filled with Iraqis, it will turn out to have been a bad bet.

If they build a wall, then more power to them. It might keep the Pride Parades back. Semi-jokes aside, it’s good to see Lithuania learned something:

    A. Don’t mess with Belarus, because Lukashenko will dump migrants on them (they’ve probably shot any political and NGO influence they had left in the foot with that one. No reborn PLC any time soon)

    B. Walls are great!

I’m doubting the quality of their Christianity in the allies they have chosen, and the ideology of their allies. If Lithuania has more Pride Parades and trans friendly education in the future, they might even wish they were still a province. If they don’t….it means they were heroically resisting their masters in Brussels. At which point, why even be there?

  236. Boomthorkell says

Indophilia drove me for many years. It was my first country abroad. A strange and wonderful place, even with, and maybe because of, the land leeches. I still get clothes from the tailor family I stayed with for a time.
