Target painting via dank memes!

(1) Moderate Rebels (TM) make YouTube video that includes their dispositions.

(2) Russian journalist Ivan Sidorenko who has good SAA contacts sends a geolocation request to the fine gentlemen of /pol/ (a 4chan “forum”).

(3) /pol/ rises up to the task and geolocates the Al Nusra base.

(5) BOOM

Incidentally, this is not the first time target acquisition has been “crowdsourced.”

In other Syria news: Al Nusra attack in South Aleppo (later repelled).

One has to admit this was an impressively well coordinated attack that betrays good training, for this region anyway. Well above ISIS quality or for that matter most of the SAA rank and file.

And of course there’s the issue of the tanks as well as the body armor and shiny new helmets. Looks like Turkey has been putting the ceasefire to good use. 😐

Anyhow it increasingly looks like the ceasefire will fully unravel any day now.

Not clear what happened in that thread?

  2. Anatoly Karlin says

    Added it in.

  3. Man, I really will have to start going to /pol/ again..

  4. German_reader says

If true, that’s pretty amazing. Maybe I was wrong about the general uselessness of online communities.

  5. Is this for real ? Surely no military can seriously attack something based on intelligence gathered by strangers online, it will not take a James Bond to easily feed misinformation and make them strike a school next time for example.

  6. Maybe that’s why there have been so many attacks on civilian targets already?

Someday, in a better world, Turkey will be driven back across the Bosporus, Istanbul will once again be called Constantinople and the Hagia Sophia will again be Orthodox.

Nah, kick Turkey out of NATO (better yet, let the US remove itself and let NATO unravel) and let them deal with the Mideast. Historically, they’ve done a better job at checking the Muslim hordes than just about anyone else.

  9. Yevardian says

Agreed. Turks are essentially white Mahometans who along the Persians, previously kept a lid on various Semitic peoples from constantly massacring each other.
    Akarlin, you regularly browse /pol/?

  10. Here is another one of /pol/’s good deeds : http://i65.tinypic.com/wus5f8.jpg

Apparently, /pol/ convinced a Somali poster who started threads about migrating to Europe to stay in Somalia and help his people (he is an English teacher).
At least seven of his friends did not stay in Somalia.
They tried to reach Europe via Egypt where they had to stay three months.
It is likely that they are dead.

Unsurprisingly, he thanked /pol/ in a new thread for their advices. The pic is from him.

    No. Life is short.
