First, the US – along with other high IQ countries – is one of the very safest countries for young women in the world. Rape in civilized countries is an order of magnitude or two lower than in the Third World.
College campuses, where people are generally brighter than average, can be expected to be even safer (convicts have 1 S.D. lower IQs than the population at large – and rapists have even lower IQs than other violent convicts).
By these measures, Yale should be in the 99th percentile of safety from rape even in the US. It is one of the very safest places for young women in the entire world.

- Committed credit card fraud against boyfriend when he decided to drop the crazy

As for the allegations, I don’t doubt that annihilated mackerel snapping lace curtain preppies groped Easy Blasey (as she was known in the 1980s), perhaps even without her consent (who cares). Incidentally, the early 1980s were the peak years of teenage partying in America. This can be seen in films from the era such as Animal House, Back to School, Pretty in Pink, etc.

I did not go through that particular lesson plan, but for instance when I was in third grade (age ten or so) I recall my elementary school hired a “self-esteem coach” who encouraged us to have high opinions of ourselves for some reason. I suppose it was a success in my case. Americans are big on nonsensical psychobabble.
American society is also unusually extroverted for a white one, so encouraging students to speak publicly and make various presentations is common.
I have indeed seen The Breakfast Club. It’s hammed up, but I for instance went through similar things when I was involved in group activities which mixed people of different levels of popularity. My Lutheran church for instance had activities, events, and even missionary trips for teenagers. I did two of these missionary trips, and on them I was very friendly with people who within high school I would not necessarily have talked to otherwise.
Likewise I also engaged in high school sports (a big deal in America), which produced a similar dynamic.
These cross-popularity friendships we developed led us to acknowledge and talk to each other within school, but generally we refrained from socializing together outside of our activities.
The same sort of thing happens in jail incidentally, which I’ve had the misfortune of spending some time in.

I suspect that a part of liberals’ anger towards Kavanaugh is that, as an originalist, he is going to be unlikely to show much–if any–mercy to other people who did bad things in their teenage years. For instance, Kavanaugh might uphold a death penalty sentence for someone who committed, say, rape or murder during their teenage years.
For the record, I am not unequivocally opposed to forgiving him for things that he did as a teen (such as this attempted rape). However, I share liberals’ concern that Kavanaugh would probably be unlikely to forgive other teens for their misdeeds if their cases ever reached the U.S. Supreme Court.

This is common slang for a threesome between one woman and two men. Kavanaugh’s yearbook page contains the phrase, which presumably seemed amusing to sneak into print. I would much rather have American or even Russian judges than a murderer as a neighbor with the knowledge that he can stab me and not go back to prison but that I can’t fight back because self-defense in this country is basically an aggravating factor. That’s not a hypothetical – a notorious multiple murderer and violent criminal was living across the street from me for years. He didn’t kill anyone during that time he did a lot of very bad stuff like severely beating up a disabled man in a wheelchair and he never got any meaningful prison time.
I dealt with this in the typical Finnish fashion – we memorize the faces of murderers, rapists, pedophiles and other notorious dangers that are allowed to walk free and avoid them with the knowledge that the state is on their side, not ours. Yeah, we have low incarceration rates and our leaders get praised around the world for it while they travel in armored cars and live behind private security that bypasses our meaningless state authorities.

That’s not my argument at all. Anyway, regarding the starving children. If I could set policy by being dictator of NATO for eternal life, I’d work out a package of minimizing suffering. This would include minimizing birth rates for the majority of Africans, while trying to keep the most intelligent groups fecund. I don’t know if I’d send food aid, but I know that currently most food aid is stolen by local warlords and dictators and is used to perpetuate dictatorships and civil wars. It also diminishes the livelihood of local farmers, who normally reap extra profits during droughts. It also reduces the need of local warlords to try to keep the agriculture in shape and allows them to pillage the land more freely.
Ultimately, such policy can only be decided based on expected results, not whether one would seem more moral from an armchair.

I’m not interested in staving off accusations of being a Nazi. As far as I am concerned, Nazis can be called Nazis. I do think that it idiotic to call someone like Trump a Nazi, but that is politics. I assume all Nazis (all few thousand) are some sort of racist, but I don’t believe that most “race realists” are Nazis. (At least not the ones that I have encountered on the Net in forums like this.) My question really centers on whether a “race realist” fits the definition of racist and I am having trouble sorting through those issues.
It rather depends on where you live in America.
In largely non-black areas, the police.
In areas where blacks are more than one quarter of the population, criminals. If I lived in such an area it would completely alter my behavior. No going out at night, no partying, no stopping to help stranded motorists, and I’d carry a firearm. I would also need to harden/fortify my home. Not very pleasant.
Special cases not involving blacks include areas with a lot of hispanic gang activity, areas where the drug problem among whites has spiraled out of control (mainly a property crime problem), or simply getting drunk and belligerent in a rowdy bar (other bar patrons probably a greater risk to you than police, though police also a problem).
If you think about it, people should fear the police more than criminals. That means policing has achieved its goal. I am not going to justify the entire American criminal justice system, it has a lot of unpleasant aspects which aren’t defensible.
But on the whole it’s a better system than what exists in most other Western countries, in which the consequences for crime are quite minor. Our Finnish friend gave us a very disturbing example. In the UK many home owners view burglary (up to and including home invasion) as inevitable, whereas it’s fairly rare in America. Not only is burglary harshly punished (and home invasion more so), but the burglar runs a real risk of getting shot. Unlike in the UK or Australia, the home owner who defends his home and family runs very little risk of prosecution.
Liberal intellectuals believe that crime stems from inequality, poverty, “oppression”, etc. and thus are predisposed to treat criminals as victims of society rather than as lawless predators who terrorize ordinary people. No society should tolerate crime at all.
This includes black societies, even if the challenge is far greater. My understanding is that there are some black areas which are controlled by the Nation of Islam where crime is effectively suppressed. If that is true than good for them.
It’s always heartening to read about blacks getting their shit together, even if under the guidance of ultimately misguided ideologies.

If the breeder’s equation was indeed as good and as applicable to IQ score as Cochran would make you believe, it would be used to determine the heritability. It would suffice to plot children’s IQ scores vs. parent’s IQ scores and determine the slope. One would expect that there are huge samples available where both children and parents where IQ tested. Certainly the samples must be larger than samples of identical and fraternal twins yet it does not seem that anybody is doing it. Why? Probably because the scatter of point is so large that it yields the slope close to zero contradicting the IQist expectations and Cochran’s claims.
I googled “parent children IQ breeder equation” and the top hits are to the usual suspects: Cochran, JayMan, Razib Khan, Sailer, Pumpkin Person and their claptrap from the same echo chamber but nothing to a legitimate research. Apparently the equation works for height, wheat yield, and chicken beaks and the plots can be easily found but not for IQ scores. I won’t mind being proven wrong.
imo Islam plays a significant role in impeding the development of Islamic societies, much of the Islamic world seems to be intellectually stagnant. Even a country like Turkey that once showed some promise is now being ruined by Erdogan and his ilk, won’t end well imo.
Now Talha and others like him would of course argue that Islam is holding those societies together and that there would be horrible mass violence without the solidarity between different ethnicities and classes enjoined by the faith. And maybe that’s true, I don’t know. Personally I think it would be better if there was at least some secularization in the Islamic world, but ultimately those decisions need to be taken by Muslims themselves. Western meddling in Islamic societies so far has been only counter-productive and even aided the most extremist elements there.
What I primarily object to, is the increasing spread of Islamic influence in Western societies. Islamization is a real phenomenon in Europe. Of course the problems can’t just be reduced to Islam…mass immigration and multiculturalism are inherently problematic imo, even under the best of circumstances. But Islam imo does give an added edge to many conflicts.
As for military interventions, I’m skeptical of them in general, the results have been mostly negative…even something like the Kosovo war is a rather dubious success story, if one looks closely. I’m not a pacifist, but the idea that there are quick and simple military solutions to deep-rooted cultural and political problems is foolish imo. Not that my opinion matters.

I admit I’ve only read his Clash of civilizations (at some point in the mid-2000s, so maybe I’ve forgotten many things), but it seemed clear to me that he cautioned against Western military interventions in the Islamic world, especially in core countries like Iraq, because such interventions would risk drastically increasing the potential for conflicts between the West and the Islamic world. His “clash” thesis was descriptive, it wasn’t a call for civilizational war and the refashioning of the Islamic world through armed force, as favoured by the neoconservatives and various US nationalists like Cheney.

You would think so, but there are significant barriers. Unlike East Asians, they intermarry with whites at very low levels. Nothing builds bonds like intermarriage and shared children. Also, because of their anti-colonial inculcation, surprisingly high number of Indians harbor anti-white views. Yes, obviously there is a side to Asian culture that is about maximum effort to achieve a goal. As you mentioned, the Japanese have a word for it, which they use a lot.
However, at the core of Asian culture there is this sense that the world is an illusion, a magic show, and this sense spreads itself throughout the culture and has perhaps some paradoxical implications.
For instance, the Japanese ability to throw themselves entirely into an activity without an ounce held in reserve comes from this sense that life doesn’t really “matter” in the dreary Western sense.
In fact, this was a carefully cultivated approach that came from Zen – you were supposed to have no goal and to act spontaneously, to plunge right in with nothing held back.
As you know, Asian culture doesn’t believe in duality – so that believing that nothing is serious might free you to devote your entire being to something isn’t seen as quite so paradoxical as is the case with us, and there is an obvious element of play in everything.
It is precisely because you are not really serious about the outcome that you can give it your all. If you seriously cared you’d have all sorts of doubts and reservations.
As for hard work, you remember the quote Anatoly provided of a Japanese guy early last century saying the Japanese probably will never be rich because they are a happy people and can’t be bothered with making the effort.

The differences between premodern Asian and European culture are simply one of priority. To use Koxinga again, after he defeated the Dutch, his Chinese entourage wanted him to invest into rebuilding Taiwan and stabilizing food production – a view for progress but very local. His European supporters, of which he had a few, wanted him to immediately organize for the invasion of the Philippines because if the Dutch could not win, then the Spanish would do so much worse in their opinion. They wanted to create an empire of some sort, before the army dispersed.
This was a priority difference, but not one of essence. The Chinese were building for his invasion plans when he died, and I doubt the Europeans thought letting people starve was a great overall plan either.

As an astute politician, Lincoln never made a moral argument against slavery because he knew it wouldn’t work. Instead he spoke to keeping the country together, which would be made all the more difficult if slavery was allowed to expand. He never even spoke about ending slavery until he was in position to do it, because he knew that wouldn’t work.

There’s no reason to think that there was ever such a complete population replacement in Egypt though. There was cultural and linguistic continuity in Middle Egypt for thousands of years. The site of Abusir was continuously inhabited. If the native population had been black, then they would have left a much more significant admixture than is in fact found. Furthermore the earliest specimens go back to 1388 BC, before Middle Egypt had been conquered by foreigners, yet as the researchers say, there is no discontinuity with the people hundreds of years later.

If you’ve paid attention to my interactions with Bliss then you’ll notice that she is constantly insulting and disparaging me, misconstruing my words, etc. The funny thing is that, while others seem to be associating that to being Black, I have not come to that kind of conclusion. I’ve dealt with plenty of Black people before and they don’t act like this (now granted, many of my interactions have been with other Muslims that are Black, so maybe my experience is skewed). Actually, the behavior jives and correlates with far more with Left-liberal conduct. When I shared with others on MT that one of the most hostile people that I have dealt with online on the subject of Islam was a Black woman, plenty were shocked since this is kind of unexpected. However, much of her conduct has been very close to what I’ve seen from White Left-liberal females when I’ve interacted with them regarding Islam. In fact, a Black sister (who is both traditional and a community activist) was just recently stating how White Left-liberal females are some of the first to pounce on her if she expresses traditional views about patriarchy being the norm, views about modesty, etc.

Most Americans haven’t had any real interactions with Muslims. Oftentimes they’re shocked when I tell them of my own experiences with Muslims. These interactions cross many national and ethnic lines. Therefore I must assume that the one common denominator is their religion Islam.
I have never witnessed a Muslim yelling and screaming. I don’t know how they do it. The world could be ending tomorrow and they would remain calm and serene. I have been in many tight and stressful business situations with Muslims. Even if I’m yelling and screaming, they remain calm. Always.
Muslims are incredibly kind and hospitable, almost to a fault. The fault lies in their unwillingness to convey less than positive news, which many people interpret as lying or dishonesty. I did too until I learned that it was out of kindness, saving their face and not wanting to cause discomfort on the part of their interlocutor. So a Muslim will say, “yes, I have the contract in my hand. You will get it tomorrow.” Of course there is no contract. He just couldn’t bring himself to say that. As you can imagine, this kind of prevarication, while well intentioned, isn’t conducive to business success. One has to learn about these predispositions and take steps to mitigate them. I remember watching a documentary on the Arab/Isreali war of 1967. This character trait led to disastrous consequences in that war. The Arab armies, not wanting to convey bad news, were simply lying to each other. As a consequence, all the moves their armies made were based on lies.

While the Muslims I know display differing levels of religiosity, they generally are not very devout. They don’t necessarily pray five times a day. They drink and party.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but the resignation to divine will you allude to is why one has to be careful with what a Muslim says. If he says this or that is going to happen, you have to figure out whether the statement is based in fact or whether it’s an inshallah situation.

Even if Kavanaugh had been proven guilty of the charges that were leveled against him by Ford, et al. (and assuming agreement that said charges themselves are, in reality, as serious as they have been made-out to be), should they have disqualified him from serving on the Supreme Court? I am not so certain.
Let me explain.
Consider, by means of analogy, the matter of evidence that was obtained illegally. If my understanding of the Law is correct, such evidence, no matter how inherently credible, is deemed inadmissible in court– even when that means not being able to convict an obviously guilty defendant. The operative principle is that the ends do not justify the means. There is also a specific rationale that if we were to admit such evidence, we would effectively be providing law enforcement with an incentive to resort to illegal means in obtaining evidence where doing so would appear expedient to them.
Here, in the matter of the case that was brought against now-Justice Kavanaugh, the whole thing stank to high heaven from the very beginning and got no better as it progressed. In addition to all the holes and contradictions that Mr. Karlin alluded-to in his post, and the many more such flaws and discrepancies that have been pointed-out by others, there is the mere matter of the timing– that of Ford, of Feinstein and of the numerous other individuals who suddenly, just at the right moment, appeared out of the woodwork to allege damning personal revelations about Judge Kavanaugh. Could any of this have been more blatantly suspicious? How much doubt can there be but that the whole thing was reverse-engineered; a desperate, final-hour attempt to keep the now-confirmed Justice off the highest Court in the land by whatever means necessary? (Or that the motivations for doing so were little, if any, more than ones of naked political expediency, self-aggrandizement and self-advancement?)
And this is before we even get to the matter of the absolutely glaring, rank hypocrisy that was exhibited by the Democrats during this affair. Did anyone, at any point during the recently-concluded spectacle, ask any of these self-anointed champions of justice and guardians of women to explain the 180-degree turn between their respective reactions to Ford, et al now, and to the women who, during Bill Clinton’s Presidency, accused him of similar and no-less-serious crimes?
Then there is the matter of Kavanaugh’s age at the time of the alleged incident. While at 17 we can safely assume that he was quite virile and libidinous, he would nonetheless still have been an adolescent and therefore yet to fully mature mentally and emotionally, as well as a minor in the eyes of the Law. This is in sharp contrast to Bill Clinton, who was already well into adulthood at the time of the alleged crimes that he was accused of.
Imagine, if you will, that everything in the Kavanaugh farce had been the same: same accusations, same timeline, etc. but with the following key differences. The defendant, instead of Kavanaugh, was something of a mirror-image of him. Say, a black man, from an impoverished background, nominated by a Democratic President and holding views favorable to the MeToo/Cult-Marx/SJW/Goodwhite mob. And those accusing this hypothetical Democratic Supreme Court nominee of-color were not the Respectables that we saw in the Kavanaugh affair but instead bona fide Deplorables.
Would the supporters of this hypothetical antiKavanaugh figure not make the most that they possibly could out of the fact that the accused was still but a mere minor— a troubled, disadvantaged, oppressed youth-of-color— at the time of the alleged incident that he was accused of? Would they not explicitly argue against punishing someone so severely for something that he did while still a minor– something that, as evidenced by subsequent decades of an apparently clean record, was apparently a youthful indiscretion? Would they not argue that to do that would be to a commit a terrible injustice? (And would there not, perhaps, be validity in such an argument?)
Finally, there is a point that John Derbyshire had made at the time that the accusations first broke against since-defeated GOP Senatorial candidate Roy Moore. If Moore had, in fact, done to any of his accusers what they alleged he did, reasoned The Derb, such women should be held legally culpable for having remained silent for all these decades. For they would, in doing so, have enabled a potentially dangerous predator to remain at-large.
For all of the reasons that I have outlined above, I am strongly inclined toward taking the view that the proper and just response to the accusations against Kavanaugh made by Ford, et al, some three-plus-decades after the incidents alleged therein would have been one that can be summarized in just two words: Get lost.

I realize that invoking pedo-hysteria (easily one of the most evergreen sentiments) is one of the cheapest means of feeling a sense of moral superiority. You make some great points and this basically outlines where I fall on the subject. I am certainly no expert since I have better things to devote my time into and frankly don’t care whether Egyptian civilization was founded by Whites, Blacks, expatriate Chinese or humanoid cat aliens. On top of that, the very concept of the institution of the god-emperor Pharaonic system has a decidedly negative connotation in Islamic doctrine in the first place.
But I simply can’t deny what I’ve seen from the busts of the very early Pharoahs. And you make a good point; we can’t just put our notions of Black or White on them. If you would have asked them, “Are you guys Black?”, they might have said, “No, you want those guys to the south that live in the villages near the forests.” And if we said, “Are you White?” they’d look at us funny. This is actually a separate issue from being resigned to (and even content or pleased with) God’s will. Some Muslims use inshaAllah as it is supposed t be used – as a recognition that no matter how much effort one puts into something, it is ultimately in God’s will to have the result come to fruition. Other Muslims use it as I’m-not-willing-to-live-up-to-my-commitment-so-I’m-going-to-flake-and-blame-it-on-God – I have come across those guys too.
InshaAllah is not used to mark deference to God’s will, that is actually in the Qur’anic phrase – and maybe you’ve heard some Muslims use it:

Well, I attended Catholic schools, attended Sunday schools and attended mass almost every Sunday until I was old enough to resist my mother’s influence. I was around the church a lot and I didn’t see a hint of pedophilia or anything of the sort while growing up. I’m not saying it didn’t happen, but I’d be very surprised if it did. So I wasn’t making a wholesale condemnation of all Catholic institutions. I had occasion to know and to be positively influenced by many excellent priests and nuns.
I must say that I was humbled after reading this reply of yours. Certainly it, and perhaps a few of your most recent other comments that I’ve now seen, would suggest that you are more intelligent and capable of being a lot more thoughtful, reasoned and civil than a number of other posts of yours that I’ve seen would suggest.
Nonetheless, I must also say that after going back and re-reading the comment of yours that I was replying-to, I do not see that I could reasonably be faulted for responding as I did.
Perhaps the lesson to be learned for me here is that your comments and writing style often need to be taken with a grain of salt; that, to alter a popular metaphor somewhat, you may bark a lot but when it comes to biting, you tend more toward restraint, moderation and deliberation.

The same as the existence of the now-infamous grooming gangs and other instances of the sexual abuse and exploitation (also including but not limited-to patent rape) of white children and adolescents, in (historically and still-majority) white lands by non-whites does not, in and of itself, prove anything about the rate of such crimes within native white populations. Then there is the realm of exclusive fantasy and fiction and the various artistic genres, both visual as well as literary, dedicated to this taboo theme. Say what one will about any of those (and, I hasten to add, the content found within them spans a wide range, from highly disturbing, at one extreme, to heartwarming, at the other, and everything-in-between), one thing’s for sure: the draconian social attitudes and legal realities that prevail toward such fictional, artistic works in the West is remarkably hypocritical, paradoxical, and even dystopian. People are locked-away for years for nothing more than viewing drawings. This, by the same State that, even to the point of blatantly denying manifest, objective reality, prides itself upon and mandates ‘tolerance’.
Well, RK’s acting has certainly improved since the ’70s. This movie actually looks pretty interesting; Hindi “social message” movies are very hit-or-miss in general. I’ve seen a few awful ones but my parents really enjoyed Pink, which I haven’t seen.

Yeah, I watched them in the video era, since I wasn’t alive when they were released. People in Sri Lanka in the old days (especially Sinhalese, since there were Tamil theatres) used to go see Hindi films in theaters without subtitles, though. Knowing a few film-hindi words like pyaar, paagal, etc. will get you farther than you might think, though those of my relatives who spoke Hindi would laugh about the misconceptions they heard from people coming out of the theater. I always thought Sinhalese movies were on average better than either Hindi or Tamil* but it’s a small island and there aren’t many of them.
*And some of the best Tamil films were directed by Ceylonese Tamil Balu Mahendra.
Acting can be a very hard profession on some people, there’s certainly no question about that. Madhubala, Meena Kumari, Marilyn Monroe… (apparently it doesn’t help if their stage names start with M). Attention, power (however illusory), and fame can be dangerous. One sees the same thing in politics, but politicians don’t seem, in general, to self-destruct quite so spectacularly, though they may do so quite as thoroughly.

I take it, based on one of your earlier comments in this thread, that your high school days may have been as much as fifty years ago. Although I was yet to have been born that far back, what I’ve read and heard on the topic has left me with the impression that attitudes toward consensual carnal intimacy between adult females and adolescent males were considerably more lax back then. Assuming that to be the case, there are at least two key reasons that I am fairly convinced account for the much harsher and often seemingly draconian reactions we have seen in more recent years.
1.) The general zeitgeist of pedo-hysteria. I believe that fifty years ago, a man could photograph children at a public park and few people would so much as bat an eyelash. Try doing that today and (even though it’s still perfectly legal) there’s a good chance someone will call the police.
2.) The normalization of homosexuality and “LGBTQ” ascendancy. Just imagine if women who cavort with boys were to be treated less harshly than men who cavort with (more often than not bugger and sodomize) boys. Can there be any question but that such a double-standard would be decried as scandalously homophobic?

Cochran and the rest of IQists will plug the value of heritability form the twin studies calculated with Falconer’s formula which gives 50%-75% value for adults. This is heritability in the broad sense (H^2). While the direct correlation using breeder’s equation gives you 42% or 22% heritability which is heritability in the narrow sense (h^2). Why Cochran and others plug H^2 in the formula that does not have H^2 in it? Can you answer this?

So if you want to esteemed the expected value of your children IQ if your children live with you you need to plug into the breeder’s formula 0.42. If you gave them for adoption you need to plug 0.22. Not what Cochran is telling which is 0.5-0.75. Can you answer this?
I also pointed out that heritability whether in broad or narrow sense is environment dependent so it is not a universal constant. The case of 42% and 22% proves it. If you adopt a child, he’ll resemble you more than the biological parents at age 5, but he won’t resemble you much by age 18, instead, he’ll resemble the biological parents. So shared environment will have very little effect. (Non-shared environment will stay large, roughly 50%, but it’s a.k.a. random, so not what is normally assumed to be the environment.) The heritability numbers you cited are for children. They will be higher by adulthood, which is what matters. The child is the unfinished product.

Because the standard deviations of R and S are the same this slope is equal to the correlation between R and S. This correlation was determined in numerous studies never exceeding 0.44. These studies were done for many different children ages. In one the average child age was 15. In your objection you stated your belief with accordance to one of the tenets of faith of the IQism
in hope that these studies underestimate the narrow sense heritability of adults. In order to significantly increase this values we would have to violate another tenet of faith of the IQism, i.e., that IQ is stable. IIRC, it is claimed that correlation of IQ’s between toddlers and 21 years old is 0.70 and after some corrections it is claimed that it is over 0.8. Correlation for 15 years old and 21 years old should be even higher. This high correlation if true is unlikely to allow change of the measured value that are between 0.35 and 0.44 in the cited studies to anything above 0.5 for adults.
The two tenets of faith that (1) IQ is stable with age and (2) heritability is not stable with age are not exactly congruous.
The lack of empirical data for the narrow-sense heritability does not stop Cochran to use value of 0.5, JayMan of 0.6 and Kirkegaard of 0.7 in some more or less serious examples they calculated. All we know it is less than o.5.
While many studies indeed confirmed there was the Wilson effect its magnitude is all over just as the broad-sense heritability is all over from 0.5 to even 0.85. What is interesting is that the Wilson effect is a combination of two opposite sign effects: (1) MZ twins’ IQ converge with age and (2) DZ twins’ IQ’s diverge with age. This can be seen in Figure 1:

You ask for databases. There are plenty data bases in every country that has mandatory military service. Norwegian researchers use it a lot for their IQ studies. I am sure you could find very large sets of father-son who were tested with some cognitive ability tests. Why nobody is interested?
The twin studies have their own problems. First of all samples are small. Twins separated at birth are no longer available due to changes to adoption policies. The Falconer scheme of using MZ and DZ twins does not correct for the possibility that MZ twins evoke more similar responses than DZ twins which result in overestimation of heritability. On the other hand determining heritability from the Breeder’s formula does not require any assumption on environment and how to correct for it. The problem is that it yields values below 0.5 which is not to the liking of the IQists. This may explain the lack of interest.

Good thing that you realize that heritability is not a universal constant but it depends on type of society. There are people who do not know it. Your example of Malthusian society is good however you realize that using twins to determine heritability will not necessarily capture the difference between the two societies which is one more argument that heritability determined from twin studies has problems.
You do realize that the high correlation between toddlers and adults is measured using children brought up by their biological parents?
Two more points. The correlations with the parents are bound to be lower unless you measure both parents. I think the few data points we have only measure one parent, usually the mother. I don’t think there are data for both parents.
But the biggest point is that even assuming you are correct about the lower heritability, it merely reduces the amount of time required for the changes. So for example a narrow sense heritability of 0.1 will still mean that a selection of 1% is enough to move the numbers by 1% in ten generations, 300 years. This means that the numbers could be significantly lower in antiquity than they are now.
For the record I think the numbers were higher than 0.1 even in historical times.

In the studies I cited except for that of Plomin that I haven’t read they get correlation with mothers and fathers separately. Sometimes correlations with mothers are higher. The way I would do it is to find the linear combination of parent’s IQ’s that maximizes the correlation because it is not given that the arithmetic mean is the way to go. How much different this correlation would be from that of individual parents? The difference might not be that great as one may think because IQ’s of mother and father correlate (≈0.4).
I’m not very interested in the debate whether the narrow sense heritability is 0.5 or only 0.3, but here’s what the mainstream scientists found on the issue:

I don’t think we will be smarter in a comment thread than mainstream researchers. Just letting you know that the zeitgeist is against high heritability numbers. So the high (0.5) mainstream estimates are admissions against interest.
What you cited from wiki are numbers form twin studies that are the broad-sense heritability. For the narrow sense heritability there are no data indicating more than 0.44, afaik. We were not discussing the broad-sense heritability. By pasting here the wiki thing and deferring to authority that does not address the issue in our discussion you do not make the issue go away. Are you confused about different heritabilites? Do you actually understand the Falconer’s formula and under what assumptions it works?
The discussion started when I stated that the proportionality coefficient in the Breeder’s formula is not the heritability most people think it is. It is not the number form the twin studies. By now I would expect that you would acknowledge that I was correct instead you pasted something from wiki which is not a propos.
