Open Thread 75: Gibs Money Edition

***

In approximately 36 hours I will departing for London to debrief with my MI6 handlers attend a certain controversial conference. You can look forwards to copious reporting on the latest in IQ research within the week.

International travel is not cheap, especially as I didn’t manage to convince my institution to pay for it. So I suppose now as is as good a time as any to launch a donations drive.

You can donate to me via one of the following methods:

  1. Sponsor me on Patreon
  2. Bitcoin: 17tDufZUEK3DvQh3rY75F3xtVgxj4TzdtB
  3. Paypal donation
  4. Yandex Money via Yasobe (for ruble accounts)

Thanks. Much appreciated.

The more money I get, the more time I can afford to devote to writing and travel reports (e.g. Romania).

OPEN QUESTION TO IQ EXPERTS—WHY ISRAELI MOON ATTEMPT CRASHED, BUT CHINESE SURVIVED, FOR A FEW MINUTES ?

    Good luck on your trip.

In the conference, please ask these experts how far at the bottom are Judaists in IQ. And if they say Judaists are high on the list, then…..

Jordan Peterson says Judaists are super rich, not because they are super crooked, but because they are super smart, compared to super stupid whites.

But the stupid whites sent a rover to Mars a few years ago, and even the Chinese sent a rover to the moon in 2019 (which sent signals for a few hours, but has not been heard from since then), but the Israeli beresheet crashed, and did not land on the moon, despite probably being built with stolen technology from the USA, its slave republic.

I can imagine lyrics for a new song from Madonna: Hey, hey, Jew, Jew, where is your IQ?

  2. 4% of India’s population is Brahmin?

  3. I thought it’d be a bit higher as well. I asked him (the Indian who pointed it out) about this, he said he got it via Googling plus this old map.

I believe China is going to transform into a developed country within 20 years. But unlike the other cheerleaders I want to diagnosis serious problems that might slow down China’s rise or diminish the extent of the rise when fast economic growth does eventually plateau. I avoid getting too much into Sinotriumph stories (unless someone biased in the opposite way throws down a challenge) and look instead for possible flaws and solutions to confirmed flaws.

One big problem related to intelligence that I haven’t seen pointed out on the website despite many commentaries at least in passing about Asian or Chinese intelligence is the possible gap between Chinese men and women in verbal intelligence. Average Asian verbal intelligence is assumed to be at least a few points lower than 100. I wonder if it is possible that Chinese verbal intelligence is on average lower than 100 and the average verbal intelligence of Chinese men is even lower than the total average.

I have a lot of first hand observations of the composition of people in verbal intensive occupations in China and see women doing better than men. That has led me to think about the issue. I also have data from the enrollment in the undergraduate degree program of an elite law school showing overwhelming dominance by women. The Tsinghua figures below are in line with other highly ranked Chinese law schools.

Tsinghua School of Law LLB program

    M | F

    2014: 37 | 77 = 114
    2015: 22 | 51 =73
    2016: 37 | 61= 98
    2017: 28 | 61 = 89

Tsinghua is the best university in China. It’s an engineering and science orientated school so it’s law school is only considered the 3rd best in China. That fact helps me make my point. Unlike students at the best law school who tend to go more into academia, Tsinghua law students by and large want to become corporate lawyers. In 2019, it has been understood that a good law school is a direct path to a richly compensated corporate career. So there is no reason why Chinese men should not be motivated to study law at Tsinghua unlike a language or literature program.

If Chinese men have lower average verbal IQs than Chinese women, does it lower the ceiling for China’s development potential? If national economic development is best predicted by the smart fraction over a certain verbal IQ, I wonder if it is even more accurate that the smart fraction of men over a certain verbal IQ predicts national economic development.

I would be most interested if you could bring this up with intelligence experts at the upcoming “certain controversial conference” and report on any reactions to my idea.

That is the autistic interpretation, IMO. There were geostrategic concerns about having military bases to control the flow of oil to allies and rivals, in the event of war. Why else did the US ever have bases in Saudi Arabia?

Of course there was also crazy universalism mixed with the rare political opportunity of 9/11. And also Bush 43 being his father’s son, as well as the rise of the neocons.

i’ve pointed out several times on here over the last few years that asian women are funnier and more talkative and sociable than asian men.

it took, like, 20 years to notice this, since asians aren’t funny, but most of the funniest asians seem to be women. i observed this often enough over a few decades that i started to think something must be going on. this is a complete inversion of the universal global pattern of men being funny and women being not.

what does it mean. i’m not sure. probably just another small piece of a big puzzle.

Something very strange happened to conservatism in America. It went from “a battleship in every cove” to “let’s invade Iraq and make it a democracy, for our own freedom” Of course, the Democratic party has changed quite substantially as well. They would call Eugene Debs a skinhead now.

So, why the big change? Beats me. But certainly there was a prominent Jewish influence on both parties. I tend to think that it doesn’t fully explain it – but money obviously influences politics.

Old man Putler showed once again that that he’s still in tip top shape scoring 8 goals in a recent exhibition hockey game, outdoing legendary Russian players Vyacheslav Fetisov and Pavel Bure (is there really anything that this Russian superman cannot do?). Unfortunately, he took a spill during a victory lap around the rink that belies his true aging status. How many more years will we be afforded to watch such spectacular fantasy presentations? Karlin should up the anti, as blatnoi suggest above, and offer his readers here a timely analysis of who the current czar has in mind to succeed him? I’m sure that both Russian and American think tanks are not fooled by these theatrics and are busy putting forth their own prognostications…

  17. Endgame Napoleon says

The USA had a widespread middle class and unquestioned economic leadership before it had so many dual-high-earner households and before it had so many college grads. This is due to the wealth-concentration force that is assortative mating and the productivity drain of absenteeism-friendly, family-friendly, crony-parent workplaces, where parents hire / retain mostly fellow parents, watching each other’s backs while taking a ton of time off (for kids….and global travel). Before so much assortative mating, the wealth from salaried, non-risk-taking, non-job-creating positions was spread out over far more households, creating a bigger middle class with more spending power, whereas now we have a credit-based, financialized economy. A narrow band of top-20%er dual-high-earner parents can spend money, but everyone else mostly spends on credit, causing economic instability.

  18. Passerby says

Also, some maladaptive traits having been artificially propped up by level of affluence never experienced by mankind ever before?

In the case of some European nations it is striking how the best of some generations have been entirely eradicated compared to the lamest. Take the case of France during WW1: 1.3 million dead, 1+ million crippled, out of a a male age cohort of about 13M. Amongst these, disproportionate numbers of farm boy types (the infantry troops) and intellectuals (the junior commissioned officers SLT/LTN/CPT ranks most heavily wiped out in relative terms). Effectively the biological elite of the nation, as due to poor general physical condition, factory workers were generally assigned to non-infantry regiments. I don’t know that it was the case in the UK, but Ernst Junger made similar observation for the German Army.

  19. Thulean Friend says

It’s worth pointing out that Israel’s incoming minister of education is tightly affiliated with the yeshiva where the head rabbi talked about embracing racism. So it’s hardly a marginal or one-off phenomenom. It boggles my mind how cucked White countries are that they continue to allow jews, including israeli jews, to pose as moral guardians of humanity when many of them are also zionists.

Masha Gessen’s muellergate piece is unremarkable. What would have been remarkable is if she wrote it in 2017 – at the height of the hysteria. It was obvious then as it is obvious now that it was all bullshit. But Trump is likely to lose in 2020 – and he has largely backstabbed his own base at every turn. This is how the establishment rewards him. I wouldn’t praise that.

Finally, some news on Denmark. They have an election in early June. Their hard-right party Stram Kurs (‘Hard Line’) is likely to enter parliament. The party is still gay in some typical ways (tries to overly focus on Islam to protect jews), but the key difference from before is that they are openly embracing ethno-nationalism and are not bothering with ‘muh culture’. They talk frankly about the need for mass deportation based on not just religion but also ethnic background.

Furthermore, Helmuth Nyborg, who is one of the pioneers on the intersection of race and IQ in academia in the last few decades, has decided to be one of their candidates. So, more proof that the claim that embracing HBD openly is supposedly detrimental to your electoral chances is bogus. Nationalism in Europe has no chance unless it becomes ethnonationalist and openly embraces HBD. There is no other path.

  20. Abelard Lindsey says

The South China Post article on the failure of Lucent and other U.S. companies to compete with Huawei is completely wrong. Deregulation and multiple standards in the U.S. was not the cause of this failure. These things had nothing to do with it. It was the change in the nature of managerial staff that is responsible for this failure. U.S. technology manufacturers (Motorola, Lucent, HP, and the like) had senior management comprised of “line” people. These are guys who were engineers, production, and sales/marketing who came up working with the process and technology their entire careers. It was sometime in the mid 90’s that a distinct change came to the senior management at these companies. “Line” people either retired or were pushed out and “staff” people (IT, legal, accounting/finance, and flakier marketing types) started being promoted into these positions. This is where Carly Fiorina became a senior manager at Lucent in 1996. We also saw the emergence of the equity management firms and their leveraged buyouts starting around this time. It was one of these that helped destroy both Motorola and Freescale (spun off from TI) as effective manufacturing operations. In short, it was the actions of the “trendy” management people as well as the private equity funds that resulted in the destruction of a lot of technology manufacturing in the U.S.

Definitely, it has something to do with affluence. Though in some ways, I think people are poorer today than they were 50 years ago, technology has helped fill the gap in perception with entertainment.

I think the dysgenic effect of war — at least past a certain scale of war — is undisputed. I often wonder however is some love-grade level of conflict/war is not necessary to preserve some level of heroic virtues — but not to the point of eradicating all the virtuous.

For example in deer populations it is manifest that absence of hunting pressure (in the absence of other super predators) results in degeneracy.

I think people are poorer today than they were 50 years ago, technology has helped fill the gap in perception with entertainment.

    I agree.

Switzerland and parts of Scandinavia were also highly supportive of eugenics before WW2, even somewhat after actually. In Sweden there were academics advocating both social democracy and eugenics together. Gunnar Myrdal is an example. Daenerys turning from the annoying moralizing magical superhero into the shows main villain could have been a great story but they screwed it up by not showing us the character development. She had a massive change of personality off-screen between seasons. Her trusted advisors have also completely changed their opinion off-screen between seasons after believing in her magical destiny to change the world for year after year.

Maybe these are developments that were supposed to happen over several books and they decided to rush it for the TV show.

  32. There are three tiers of explanatory narratives. Iraq war in 2003 ie an excellent example. You seem to be stack on the tier 2.

    http://www.unz.com/article/les-gilets-jaunes-a-bright-yellow-sign-of-distress/#comment-2686086
The narratives come in three tiers: (1) True cause, (2) Justification for insiders and the curious and (3) Rationalizations for the masses.

The tier (3) is for the masses like for example that 2003 Iraq war was about weapons of mass destruction and bringing democracy to the Middle East.

The tear (2) is for some insiders who need rational reasons and for the curious who do not believe media. In case of the war with Iraq the tier (2) narrative would be about oil and Saddam Hussain switching to euros from dollars. This narrative is for business people and higher military and for the curious who usually stop at this level. Various conspiracy sites let the curious get (2) but they also prevent them going to the tier (1).

And the tier (1) is the true cause that may seem totally irrational, outrageous and abhorrent. In the case of the 2003 Iraq war it was to destroy Iraq and turn it into a non functioning state full of chaos where sectarian and political strife is promoted and can be easily manipulated for ever by supporting always the weaker side. This was a part of the Yinon Plan to destroy all semi-secular Arab states in Israel’s vicinity which were Iraq, Syria and Libya. Israel prefers chaos and weak entities rather than functioning states that have industry, educational system and capable military and well defined leadership that has a political doctrine.

One mays say that the tier (1) is hidden and protected by layers of tiers (3) and (2) because it is a pure evil.

The Brahmin as they currently exist are not the same people that they came from 3000 years. The original Aryans were no doubt white, however miscegenation has been going on for a long time in India and the original Aryan are extinct there. I can understand lighter browns lamenting race mixing with darker browns, but India has always been a tragedy of race mixing.

Look, you know, I hate to do this, but in truth, anyone who doesn’t think Jewish influence was significantly involved in shaping modern American cuck-conservatism is either delusional, completely ignorant, or a liar. And, quite frankly, Jews themselves will often openly celebrate this kind of stuff – e.g. the Jewish writer Amy Dean bragging about Jewish involvement in sodomite marriage* in America. I’m sure you could find Jewish neocons doing similar things in their writings. It doesn’t take a frickin’ rocket scientist to figure out that the Roosevelt + early Truman period set the modern tone of American politics, and that powerful American Jews and the Anglophile Eastern Establishment got everything they wanted.

I’m sorry, but in reality, E. Michael Jones is right. Jones is no Hitlerite; he thinks Hitler’s conception of Jewry was messed up. He sticks very closely to the traditional Catholic teaching on Jews, which is focused more on religion than race. Anyway, what he gets right is that this absurdity of not being able to talk about the total nature – good and bad – of ethnic groups is making people sick with rage. As Jones says elsewhere, it’s okay for Amy Dean to brag about what she says her people did for “social justice,” but if Jones says the same thing, he’s an anti-Semite.

Look, whatever. Mainstream American conservatism was what is now fringe paleoconservatism. Paleocons like Hamilton Fish and Robert A. Taft were 100% “normie” in 1935. Now, they’re fringe racist lunatics? And why is that? Might it have something to do with the fact that a group with an interest in stifling dissent has shut those guys out of the Republican Party? I don’t know, you be the judge. I’ve had enough of pretending that BS is the truth.

I hate the kind of unbridled anti-Semitism that blames Jews exclusively, okay? Because everyone knows that a sinner has to agree to his sin; a white Christian has to agree to become a materialist pig, before anybody else can destroy his culture. But at the same time, this nonsense of pretending that Jewish elites didn’t want that white guy to make that choice, and influence him to make that choice, for their selfish benefit, it’s just historically an absolute farce. How long are we gonna pretend that the reasons for our current state of affairs don’t cut both ways?

When something is under intense pressure, there needs to be a blow-off valve, you know? Jones keeps calling for the original European take on the Jews which was this: The Christian cannot persecute the Jew, but the Jew cannot undermine the Christian’s culture. Until we have an attitude of mutual responsibility to one another, it’s just gonna get worse and worse to live together.

    P.S. Long live Stephen Miller

The gist of the mouse utopia experiment is that Calhoun constructed a habitat in which mice could be observed. He introduced a small number, and then gave them essentially unlimited resources – food, water, nesting space, and material.

What he found was that the population never got up to what he thought it would based on total resources. In fact, after the population reached a certain threshold size, he started to observe all sorts of odd behaviors. They crowded into certain areas. Many spent all their time grooming, eating, and sleeping. They stopped seeking mates. Mothers that had babies often abandoned them.

In his biggest experiment, the population dropped from a peak of about 620 down all the way to zero – it never recovered. It took less than five years.

  48. Not so much “likely” as a possibility that needs to be taken seriously.

My opinions are largely these: https://opentheory.net/2016/11/principia-qualia/

  49. Daniel Chieh says

Basically they were said to have experienced “behavioral sink”; they lost entire behavioral patterns needed to survival and never regained them. Some examples were:

    • Unable to mate guard females due to population/stress, males stopped trying to own their females.
    • Females stopped taking care of their infants, subsequently lost the ability to take care of them as they did not pass on learned behavior.

    • Some males dropped out and became”beautiful ones” who did nothing but groom themselves.

Even as the population crashed, the behaviors were not regained. Everyone just died.

  50. songbird says

It would be interesting to run the experiment again with a control – look into an alternate universe, where the Jews never left the Middle East.

I accept that they had substantial negative influence on the West. It is impossible not to notice the coincidences, when it comes to the media, Hollywood, politics, and immigration. I mean, when you have a guy like Shatter in Ireland, inviting the brown masses in and he is not Irish, and Jews have never been a large part of Ireland.

It is quite conceivable that there is a special dynamic that can only be created with the charge of anti-semitism – that it is essential to have a phenotypically similar group like the Ashkenazi to start the snowball rolling into charges of racism against other groups. Moreover, that unique group characteristics might be required, which are not found in European gentiles, on an ethnic level.

At most, however, I tend to think that they were an accelarant. That we are in a decline and would be so without them. That we are in a power dynamic caused by virtue-signaling, which whites have an alarming tendency to do, and various other bad incentives. That essentially the same people are attracted into the media, whether or not they are Jews.

Maybe, speeding it all up is, in fact, a really bad thing.

Janissaries were not castrated or else they probably would have made bad soldiers.

That article about 5G is nonsense. US companies can’t build 5G networks because 5G is fundamentally a hardware issue, and US companies sold off their hardware R&D and fabrication capabilities after “deregulation”, which of course has had other impacts like strangling the (lengthy) education and training pipeline for American hardware engineers. The multiple-network issue is absolutely trivial by comparison, which is probably why that linked article does such a poor job of articulating how, exactly, having phones that ran on both GSM and CDMA caused US companies to not be able to build newer equipment.

I tend to think that polygamy is dysgenic, mostly based on the idea that the Arab world seems to have declined. Of course, this makes it hard to disentangle from other factors, like consanguineous marriage.

One way that polygamy would potentially be dysgenic is that it would probably increase the average age of fatherhood, leading to an increase of mutations in the germline cells.

It is a very interesting question whether the idea might be testable one day, since we have an historical timeline of the spread of Islam.

Anomaly of the curriculum. Law at elite schools in China are usually taught in English, not Chinese because they always go into trade law, not domestic civil or criminal. This has the side effect of weeding out men. Foreign language departments in China and really across the far East skew heavily female. Professional translators are almost 9/10 female. Women just seem to be better at picking up foreign languages or at least more interested than men. This is as true for Whites as it is for Chinese. Foreign women I’ve noticed almost always have stronger Chinese language ability than foreign men.

Interesting article on attitudes towards feminism in Scandinavia

    https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2019/may/10/and-the-least-feminist-nation-in-the-world-is-denmark

The poll, conducted by the YouGov-Cambridge Globalism Project of more than 25,000 people in 23 major countries, found that just one in six Danes consider themselves a feminist, a third said that wolf whistling at women in the street was acceptable, and two in five had an unfavourable view of the #MeToo movement.

Only 4% of men and 8% of women in Denmark questioned in the survey said they had a ‘very favourable’ impression of the #MeToo movement, compared to 16% and 34% in Sweden, and 19% and 24% across all the countries in the survey.

The intra-regional variation is surprising. Danes are also more diversity-skeptical compared to Swedes IIRC.

Interesting, I did not know about these lab experiments, but they certainly confirm my own observations as a hunter with deer populations: easy access to food, and disappearance of outside threats such as hunting leads to decay.

In the wild, however, it’s interesting to notice that the deers revert to healthy populations when a reasonable selective pressure is again exerted upon them (for example if winter feeders are not filled, or less often, the weaklings die more than the strong in the harsh season ; also, there is an ongoing live experiment where I live with the return of the European wolf that has crossed from Italy and is putting some pressure on the cervidae).

Unfortunately I think that the conditions of homo europeanus are closer to those of the lab mice than of the wild deer. We are already in a massive social engineering experiment with essentially unlimited supply of welfare and gibmedats like the poor mice. This in turns promotes maladaptive traits and may very well drive the native population into oblivion

    Sad really.

    WTF:

President Trump is questioning his administration’s aggressive strategy in Venezuela following the failure of a U.S.-backed effort to oust President Nicolás Maduro, complaining he was misled about how easy it would be to replace the socialist strongman with a young opposition figure, according to administration officials and White House advisers.

The president’s dissatisfaction has crystallized around national security adviser John Bolton and what Trump has groused is an interventionist stance at odds with his view that the United States should stay out of foreign quagmires.

Trump has said in recent days that Bolton wants to get him “into a war” — a comment that he has made in jest in the past but that now betrays his more serious concerns, one senior administration official said.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/a-frustrated-trump-questions-his-administrations-venezuela-strategy/2019/05/08/ad51561a-71a7-11e9-9f06-5fc2ee80027a_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.f1f413fcd7e3

My take is that Trump doesn’t read and is vulnerable to flattery. This allows White House staff to successfully manipulate him.

Irrelevant in any case. I didn’t blackpill on Trump quickly and continued to give him the benefit of the doubt, but over two years in his Presidency is a failure and very hard to see how it gets better.

Michael Woodley and others are now proposing a new model which attempts to explain the whole thing by spiteful mutants having negative social effects on non-mutants.

The idea that the genes of others can influence your behavior is called social epistasis. It has been paired with the idea that a decrease in purifying selection leads to mutations accumulating. These two obvious ideas combine to form the theory of spiteful mutants, the idea that our civilizational decline might be explained by the negative social effects of an increasing number of mutants.

I am not fully convinced. On some levels, it seems like a reach, but they are starting to accumulate evidence. For instance, apparently the mere presence of mutant mice can lower the testosterone in normal mice. Something like this has been proposed to explain falling sperm counts. Another idea is that atheists are mutants and that they are responsible for falling church attendance.

She describes the Swedish immigration policy as ”lax and weak” in which Sweden ”has not understood how dangerous it is” and sees the neighbouring country as a deterrent example.

-When Sweden goes under and ceases to be Swedish so it affects us also, we will no longer be able to maintain a passport union between our countries, ” she says of the Focus.

    – We have a lot in common with the Swedes, and we are close to each other, but when you, in practice, become an Arabic Middle Eastern country we will no longer have so much in common.

Focus also writes that Krarup and DF do not want migrants to learn Danish or to work, but instead will be sent home as soon as possible.

    – If you get asylum, you get a temporary residence permit, then you are in Denmark then you should be sent home. All the time you should be prepared to be sent home,” she says.

Right-wing Danes have been publicly threatening shutting off Öresund (the bridge link between Malmö and Köpenhamn) for years. They have also been doing the same vis-a-vis lax border controls with us. I remember reading these articles as far back as 10-15 years ago. Nothing has happened.

Instead, we’ve seen a loosening of a series of agreements and regulations between the Nordic countries. Read up on it on http://www.norden.org. There’s even been talk of having a single passport. I can get Danish citizenship within only 2 years of moving there because of my citizenship, and I don’t have to get rid of my Swedish one. I can also have more benefits, stay for longer etc than any other EU citizen. The publicly stated aim of all the prime ministers of the Nordic council is that we will be “the most integrated region in the world”. While I almost wish that these marginal threats from Danish nationalists came to pass – it might shock a few Swedes in a good way – I am pessimistic it will happen.

The reality is that though the Danish are more nationalist than us, that’s not very hard to be. In comparison with almost any other non-White country in the world, they are still very liberal. Most of their debate on immigration has been frozen in time since 2005. Their nationalist voting share is quite stagnant and DF has even become more liberal of late. That’s partly why Stram Kurs is growing, even if they are still very marginal. Their version of social democrats are supposedly more ‘anti-migrant’ but most of it is just assimilationist civic nationalist with a mildly skeptical refugee stance. Still ultimately liberal assumptions, just more cautious implementation.

  80. Thulean Friend says

Mearsheimer has written a very fine article on why the liberal world order is dead.

    Abstract:

The liberal international order, erected after the Cold War, was crumbling by 2019. It was flawed from the start and thus destined to fail. The spread of liberal democracy around the globe—essential for building that order—faced strong resistance because of nationalism, which emphasizes self-determination. Some targeted states also resisted U.S. efforts to promote liberal democracy for security-related reasons. Additionally, problems arose because a liberal order calls for states to delegate substantial decisionmaking authority to international institutions and to allow refugees and immigrants to move easily across borders. Modern nation-states privilege sovereignty and national identity, however, which guarantees trouble when institutions become powerful and borders porous. Furthermore, the hyperglobalization that is integral to the liberal order creates economic problems among the lower and middle classes within the liberal democracies, fueling a backlash against that order. Finally, the liberal order accelerated China’s rise, which helped transform the system from unipolar to multipolar. A liberal international order is possible only in unipolarity. The new multipolar world will feature three realist orders: a thin international order that facilitates cooperation, and two bounded orders—one dominated by China, the other by the United States—poised for waging security competition between them.

  89. LGBT and non-binary is not opposed to religion, but is just a new religious fashion.

The reason people here like German Reader and Karlin are complaining about it, is because it is so irrational. But of course it is irrational, because the ideology has a religious dimension.

World’s centre of the LGBT religion seems to be Cambridge University and maybe Oxford University.

It was already existing in these places in the 19th century and of course it has a self-conscious “inspiration” from the Ancient Greece (it is centred in the universities which are the main experts in the world on Ancient Greece).

  90. falling church attendance.

It’s so natural that you don’t need to overdetermine the explanation.

Historically most people only would go to church for Sunday, because there didn’t exist things like cinemas, swimming pools and tennis courts. There was also no television and internet. And, of course, even books were a luxury until recently, and most people could not read.

On the other hand, today there are a thousand more interesting things for people to do, so churches only receive small minority of any population (it’s the people who are actually innately religious).

The nationalities of the developed world where a significant proportion of the population still go to church are only a few like America, Poland, Brazil and Romania (if the latter three are on a borderline of being first world countries now and at least have same distractions of them).

And in many churches in countries like America, they now attract audiences with pop music concerts or are like a social club.

  91. Kent Nationalist says

In what sense do you think it is like a religion?

World’s centre of the LGBT religion seems to be Cambridge University and maybe Oxford University.

I know you are obsessed with these places, but they are not either the centre or origin of it. The origin of the modern movement is either Weimar Germany with Hirschfeld or post-war America.

It was already existing in these places in the 19th century and of course it has a self-conscious “inspiration” from the Ancient Greece

Of course there were predatory homosexuals around but the current ideology did not start with them; their writing about homosexuality was esoteric rather than propagandistic.

Where do you get this idea? It’s not true at all. Law at law schools in China, whether elite or not, is taught in Chinese.

  93. In what sense do you think it is like a religion?

The strength of fashion is a result of containing a few eternal religious elements.

    1. Alignment with slave religion, as Nietzsche describes early Christianity. For non-gay people, liberation of gays interpreted as a political movement to save oppressed people of the world, whose location is in liberation of the losers (in this case sexual minority).

This is compatible with allied social justice movement, intersectionality, liberation theology, etc. (You probably know more about these than I).

    1. Dionysian cult (for gay people).

Dionysus of course was “non-binary” (and androgyny was a representation of spiritual completeness).

    1. American belief in self-creation, to be prioritized over how you are born – or unlimited freedom (this will eventually move into a fashion for transracialism by the middle of the 21st century).

Gay people exist in every society, as also intersex people, and they have a normal (non-religious) interest in improving their social position.

But the flags, marches, and androgynous “queens”, are religion (or a religious fashion), not something rational.

know you are obsessed with these places

It seems unlikely because you think it’s just some hi-tech parks, startups and science research?

Fashion for 1 (above) seemed to flood across the students a year and a half ago (two years ago you didn’t see the flags, unless this was just a time of year).

The aesthetics of 1 are from America and most of the books of 1990s seem to be published in America.

However, when you look at the literature (in the bookshop itself, where they have a special promotion for it some weeks ago), Cambridge University Press seems the main European publishing center for “queer theory”.

University is an intellectual center for gender studies also.
    https://www.gender.cam.ac.uk/

current ideology did not start with them; their writing about homosexuality was esoteric

It was the late 19th century centre of gay intelligentsia, who then moved to London. Their beliefs mainly relate to 2, rather than 1, however, and were without any political implication. Historically, the gays were very elite supporting characters like economist Keynes or writer Strachey. In addition, it was a center of studies of Ancient Greece.

It’s true the reason LGBT movement now is spreading to non-gays, is because of the incorporation of component 1, which does not originate in this area.

It’s 1 which attracts the young Western people of bourgeois origin (as packaged differently, the New Left movement did in the 1960s in Paris).

  94. Today, there are a few ideologies of the bourgeois young Western world- LGBT, environmentalism, feminism, SJW and post-colonialism (including anti-racism).

They generally can align. But there’s also reductio ad absurdums, when simple fanatics seem to not see incompatible parts of the ideologies

Question is whether these gay people are naive fanatics or if they are trolling the Muslims with kindness.

    https://i.imgur.com/wyb5BS3.jpg

They might even defeat the Muslims?

    https://i.imgur.com/u12DlUn.jpg

Sometimes gays seem to troll the Muslims. French competitor in Israel’s Eurovision is a gay Muslim.

With Eurovision song contest, it almost seems like gays have started trolling Muslims.

France has selected for Eurovision song contest, a gay transgender Muslim..

At the same time, they are sending the gay Arab to perform in Tel Aviv.

Some Muslim in France are protesting about this.

But Israelis then responded by creating a television program about a gay French Muslim terrorist who enters the Eurovision song contest to perform an ISIS attack against Israel.

So now France is saying they will boycott Israel’s Eurovision song contest, if Israel does not cancel the television program which says their gay Muslim contestant is a terrorist.

Of interest to the discussion. Karlin has considered the hypothesis that a smart fraction of verbally smart people is the core resource powering a country’s economic development. Other explanations for Asian underperformance relative to IQ are also considered. So a gender gap among Chinese in verbal IQ is just another hypothesis to throw in.

Another, more plausible theory, advanced by Griffe de Lion as well as Rindermann, is that some forms of IQ, most notably verbal, in which the European-East Asian gap is very modest or even non-existent, are relatively more important for economic success than mathematical aptitude, where the gap is substantial, or visuospatial ability, where it is as big as 10 points. (Lynn actually claims that Europeans are verbally smarter, but PISA shows otherwise, though it does confirm that the Asian/European gap in verbal IQ is much less than the mathematical one). This would largely though not fully resolve the puzzle of East Asian underperformance, though you would still have to convincingly explain why verbal IQ in particular is more important for economic prosperity than, say, just g.

    3) Personality, Culture, IQ Structure – Apart from the partial exception of Singapore – a fact that is mitigated by its status as a financial city-state – all East Asian states economically underperform relative to where they “should” be at. This is The (Other) East Asian Exception. This leads me to believe that the cause of this must be something that is culturally or even biologically common to the region. Maybe it has something to do with a relative lack of creativity in terms of personality (in Nobel Prizes per capita, as in GDP per capita, Japan far more closely resembles Italy than Germany; while Korea has yet to win a single real, i.e. non-Peace, Prize); maybe it is a consequence of East Asia’s shame culture, which is more socially stultifying than Europe’s guilt culture, and can lead to inefficiencies like paying undue respect to an incompetent boss who just happens to be older; maybe it is simply that East Asian IQ is simply “worth” about 5 points less than European IQ due to its particular quirks or structure (specifically, the fact of the Asian advantage in verbal IQ being much more relatively modest relative to Whites); and/or maybe – and this is by far the most tentative hypothesis here – it might be that the East Asian IQ advantage over Europeans disappears in adulthood, meaning that Europeans still retain a relative preponderance in the fraction of smart 40-50-60 year olds who are responsible for most of the greatest scientific and cultural accomplishments.

    http://www.unz.com/akarlin/national-wealth-and-iq/

In the article, Taiwan actually comes out in the top 10 of “conventional” economies. That might neutralize concerns that low male verbal IQ will slow down or diminish China’s economic transformation. (But I also wonder why Taiwan has so much higher GDP per capita in PPP terms than South Korea. That doesn’t seem to make sense. Could be Taiwanese numbers be overstated?)

    This is illogical.

Asians are equal in verbal and superior in math and spatial.

If verbal is most important, Asians should perform equal to Western countries economically.

However, the Asian edge in math and spatial does not come at the cost of being lower in verbal. It is a free advantage.

    So they should outperform economically.

Everyone here already knows my opinion in the performance gap, so no point repeating it, but I just have a hard time letting plainly illogical things pass and had to point that out.

  99. Abelard Lindsey says

A big part of the problem, the biggest in my experience, that the article did not touch on is the replacement of operations people with “fluff” in senior management of both big and even medium sized companies in the U.S. today. For example, the senior management of, say, Motorola, in 1985 would have consisted of guys rooted in engineering, production, and sales/marketing. Today, such managers would be anything from Marcom (whatever the hell that is) to everything from finance to even HR. A fair number of them would have job titles that did not even exist in 1985 (and makes you wonder what they do on a daily basis in their work). This is the kind of fluff that simply cannot run a manufacturing operation of any kind. We can argue all of the causes that resulted in these kinds of people running companies today. However, it is very clear that this is the PRIMARY reason why the U.S. is loosing its capability in technology manufacturing.

  100. Chinese have not given an indication of being talented in maths at a high level, especially relative to their population. The flood of recent Chinese maths students to the Western universities, is more a result of their large population (1,4 billion Han Chinese people by race) and the inferior level of their universities compared to Western ones.

The Chinese race has contributed little to maths at the highest levels.

For example, in Fields Medals (which is not any accurate measure, but can give a general indication) there is only one person of Chinese race, despite the fact the Chinese race are around 18,5% of the world’s population.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fields_Medal#Fields_medalists

And that one Chinese race person, was born and educated in anglosaxon world.

The Japanese have done a lot more research, especially proportionally and in their own institutions.

In all areas, Chinese are an incredibly low achieving race relative to their population quantity, but the breakthroughs in mathematics are one of the more extreme examples. Even women have more medals in mathematics than Chinese people.

Hopefully, in the 21st century, Chinese will do better and achieve far more, and become higher achieving as a race. But hopes for the future aside, up to now this has not been impressive.

There are many ways that people are influenced. For instance, atheists sued schools to take religion out of them. One even sued NASA when the Apollo 8 astronauts read from the Bible in lunar orbit. Ever since, astronauts make bland greetings from space. Whether or not one believes in the theory of spiteful mutants, the courts are a powerful tool for controlling society.

Then there is the way that religion is mocked in culture. There was a Seth Rogan movie where he vomits during the mass in church, before yelling “We did not kill Jesus!” The culture also cuts religion out of religious stories, like I understand the movie about Tolkien does not reference Christianity, even though it was a very important influence on him. Hollywood sells sex and other forms of gratification, while elevating a false morality of diversity and virtue-signaling to take the place of church.

Then there is the way that the moral basis of the Church, families, are attacked. The Church frowns on divorce, but in the culture and in law divorce is encouraged. Kids with divorced parents are probably not going to church. People who never married and had children are undoubtedly less likely to go – so it could be seen as a reflection of falling fertility rates.

Also, there is the way that the state has grown, so people say, “Why should I contribute to charity? I pay taxes.” There is commercialism. Used to be that stores were not even open on Sunday. I’m not totally ancient yet, and still I can remember when you couldn’t buy beer on Sunday.

And there are a thousand other cuts, like multiculturalism. I’m not ignoring that poor people are more observant, but I think it is more complicated than that.

    Correct.

Math is the easiest thing for someone to demonstrate talent in – no infrastructure or modernity required. Even India managed to produce a Ramanujan despite having Medieval levels of infrastructre and being completely unmodernized.

A billion + people with elevated math ability should have been producing scores and scores of top flight mathematicians. They should in fact completely dominate the field.

What’s more, I have not been able to find in the psychometric literature any indication that Asians score higher than whites on math IQ. IQ defender “res” on another thread, also insisted Asians score significantly higher on math, yet was similarly unable to find any primary source documents substantiating this.

Its actually quite weird that a google search does not produce large numners of results on Asian superiority in math IQ…..could not find one.

The best I was able to find were some remarks that if analyzed one could deduce Asian math IQ to be roughly equal to whites.

I’m not saying the IQ literature doesn’t contain this, just that its deeply weird that it isn’t readily available on google when so much else is. I rememback back, back in the day seeing citations for Asian math IQ at 102-103. Now I cant even find those – only assurances that it is “substantially” higher than whites by HBDers.

But as you note, real world performance doesn’t “even” measure up to 102-103 – assuming math IQ+opportunity=performance. In math, the opportunity has been there for centuries.

In all areas, Chinese are an incredibly low achieving race relative to their population quantity, but the breakthroughs in mathematics are one of the more extreme examples. Even women have more medals in mathematics than Chinese people.

No one has bothered to inform the HBDers of this. Apparently, real world actual performance is of little interest. Scores on tests cannot, should not, will not, and are not, doubted.

Hopefully, in the 21st century, Chinese will do better and achieve far more, and become higher achieving as a race. But hopes for the future aside, up to now this has not been impressive.

People were saying this as far back in the 19th century. Apparently China is the true Land Of The Morning Sun – its fate is always in the future.

If the Chinese performance in math is anything to go by, there seems zero reason to expect this. The opportunity was there – more than there. Nothing materialized.

    But tomorrow, tomorrow….

Its like the Christian “far off divine event” that never comes.

  105. songbird says

You raise a good distinction, but I meant in the sense of level of development. For instance, Ireland in the ’70s vs. Ireland now.

Though I make the caveat that I don’t know how true this is in the Third World. For instance, I have heard that few nominally Christian Africans go to church, though Christianity can still be a powerful political force there. I’m not sure what the case is in Latin America, but I suspect they do not have great attendance there either, though probably a greater sense of faith than after they immigrate to America.

  106. But I of course have a one-track mind for continually challenging the official HBD narrative. What is wrong with me that I don’t just shut up, sit down, and passively accept what my “fellow white” HBDers are insisting is true?

Truly I have some crazed monomania.

I must be Jewishly subverting their whiteness, offering them advice of a Jewishly dubious nature. I mean, why would whites NOT want to see themselves as inferior to Asians? Jewish subversion of the highest order!

It is all part of our grand attempt to subvert the glories of Western Civilization, this dasrardly suggestion of something positive about whites – and you, Dmitry, with your one Jewish grandparent, are clearly a dastardly Jew trying to undermine the glorious cornerstone of Western Civilization, which is apparently white mediocrity.

Didn’t you know Western Civ was entirely built on acceptance of white medioctiry?

In the future, China will lag in producing individual geniuses compared to Europeans. But there are other ways to “become higher achieving as a race. As a first world country of 1.4 billion, the tax base and workforce would exist to pull off a manned mission to Mars. China should focus on a Mars mission as its civilization calling card for the 21st century. A huge national accomplishment like making it to Mars would give the Chinese a reputation for being a high achieving race even when the number of very high achievers is lackluster.

I must be Jewishly subverting their whiteness, offering them advice of a Jewishly dubious nature.

You also gave a lot of other dubious advice besides your rejection of HBD to the Europeans commenting here like “Be inclusive” (like Israelis supposedly are), “Make alliances with recent immigrants”, “Don’t be anti-American”.
And in general such insistent lecturing is just annoying.

  110. songbird says

Once, I was eating launch with two ethnic Chinese guys – one American-born, the other Chinese-born.

The American one asked me how many men went to the moon. The Chinese one – quite an intelligent guy – seemed much amazed by some aspect or other my answer.

I don’t know if it was simply the number, or some detail, or the fact that Americans were so blase about it. Or that he saw the civilizational decline of America, and was in awe of what it had once been, or else how far it had fallen.

  111. When did I say be inclusive? Don’t remember that. Short term alliances with immigrants may or may not be a good idea. Worth exploring.

My point with that is that we should be flexible and think strategically. Not reject potentially useful strategy out of ideology.

Anyways, you don’t have to like everything I said.

I’m just some random guy on the internet discussing ideas.

And in general such insistent lecturing is just annoying.

You are such a wallflower, I see.

They are ideas. They won’t harm you.

  112. Israelis are fairly ethnically and racially inclusive – provided you’re Jewish.

Of course, not 100% inclusive even within the Jewish tent.

Big identity contains within it small identity.

That’s normal. The British Isles has both Scots and English.

Diversity within unity – you cannot neglect the unity aspect of a nation, nor the inner diversity.

  114. German_reader says

When did I say be inclusive?

You wrote something about inclusive identities, against some strawman of 100% racial purity types. I have forgotten the exact wording, and am not going to look for it.
A lot of your comments just seemed like concern-trolling to me, by someone who wants to steer discussions among nationalists into a certain direction, without being entirely honest (probably even to himself) what might be his personal motives for doing so.

  115. German_reader says

I have become rather whitepilled on AaronB, ever since he called Hitler a “cuck.”

I had almost forgotten about that gem.
If there’s ever an anthology of reader’s comments on AK’s blog, it needs to be included in a prominent place.

  116. Oh yes, I said that every national identity is composed of a mixture of physical types rather than a ” pure” racial type.

This strikes me as undeniable – Germans aren’t all blond and blue eyed.

And I made clear this mixing of ethnicities to forge a national identity is a multi-century process that has happened in the past and will happen again.

This does not mean I recommendinclusivity in the sense of integrating immigrants.

I think I mentioned it in the context of saying that Europe can, if it closed its doors immediately, physically assimilate its immigrants, if necessary. Not that Europe should import immigrants.

Everything is context GR – take a mans words out of context you can prove anything.

A lot of your comments just seemed like concern-trolling to me, by someone who wants to steer discussions among nationalists into a certain direction, without being entirely honest (probably even to himself) what might be his personal motives for doing so.

So what direction am I trying to steer the discussion by rejecting the picture of white mediocrity painted by HBDers and emphasizing the role of motivation over generic constraint….some really sinister direction no doubt.

  117. Again words taken out of context.

I said Hitler started out as a soft romantic dreamer type who was appalled at how the world actually worked – then went to the opposite extreme of becoming much worse than everyday human corruption that appalled him so much.

And described that as the inevitable fate of dualistic thinkers who cannot come to terms with the ugly aspects of reality – they become worse than what they reject.

This is fairly standard Jungian Shadow analysis, btw.

And this nuanced and insightful position gets translated in your mind as a simple crude opinion that Hitler’s overall personality was that he was tks cuck.

I sometimes wonder if I’ve just misjudged the intellectual level of commenters on this site.

  118. German_reader says

I think I mentioned it in the context of saying that Europe can, if it closed its doors immediately, physically assimilate its immigrants, if necessary.

That’s impossible in the case of some numerous immigrant communities at least, because their identities are too strong. It would also be undesirable, for reasons that Thorfinnsson could explain better than I.

So what direction am I trying to steer the discussion by rejecting the picture of white mediocrity painted by HBDers and emphasizing the role of motivation over generic constraint

    Into a dead-end?
To be clear, I don’t think you’re being malicious, I just wanted to explain to you what impression one could get of your comments.

  119. Into a dead-end?

So emphasizing the role of personal effort leads to a dead end, but emphasizing generic constraint doesn’t.

And pointing out that the available data does not support the picture of genetic constraint for white people painted by HBDers – not even slightly – instead of seeing thus as broadening the sense of possibility, you paint this as a dead end.

I suspect it is you are engaging in motivated reasoning – you are weary and pessimistic and reject any message that might call you to action.

  120. That’s impossible in the case of some numerous immigrant communities at least, because their identities are too strong. It would also be undesirable, for reasons that Thorfinnsson could explain better than I.

Yes, no one will be assimilating to the current pessimistic culture of the West. Instead people like me will be defecting.

My point was that in a new system where immigration was completely halted and the West regained its cultural self confidence, many or most immigrant communities could be assimilated without dramatically altering the character of the nation – or altering it slightly.

This was not painted as a desirable scenario but a worst case one.

I understand Thor’s objection and I generally agree – don’t mess with the character of outstanding nations.

However, every nation has always revived small infusions of out side genetics periodically. I am not aware of any nation not doing so.

Its all in the amount, like an inoculation.

A nation can easily survive small genetic infusions – not large ones.

  121. German_reader says

And pointing out that the available data does not support the picture of genetic constraint for white people painted by HBDers

According to HBD white European nations are among the smartest populations in the world.
For the use of HBD as an anti-immigration weapon in Europe (! US may be different due to different immigration patterns) it’s irrelevant that East Asians and Ashkenazi Jews are on average somewhat smarter. It’s entirely sufficient that Arabs, Pakistanis, Somalis etc. are so much dumber than us, can’t be fixed and will drag down our societies.

  122. If you think about a year like 1819.

In 1819 year, if there were internet forums – normal people, not even trolling, would be saying Russians racially have no talent for classical music (insofar as can be incorporated a native classical tradition that does not imitate foreign styles).

But then Russia surprises all in the next century, synthesizing original work in music, so that the earlier estimation now appears ridiculous.

(However, of course, it’s not really “Russia” that surprises anyone – just a group of talented men, individuals inspired from each other, that could be born in the Russian Empire).

    • It’s not completely impossible, the situation with Chinese and mathematics will be similar in the 21st century after 2019.

Currently, the Chinese race (whether in China, Taiwan or even overseas) has not provided indication of talent for mathematics at the high level, and proportionally the opposite. Maybe, in the 21st century, this will change.

National characteristics are not unchangeable. But until now, of course, the Chinese have been not achieving in this area.

no infrastructure or modernity required. Even India managed to produce a Ramanujan

    Asian math IQ

I don’t think these tests can find who is talented or not in this area.

The opportunity was there – more than there. Nothing materialized.

    But tomorrow, tomorrow….

I think your comments are a bit premature.

Currently, the 1,38 billion people in China, have only one 1 Nobel Prize in science (in medicine). So you might assume they have no intellectual ability.

However, there is a significant time-lag and China was economically undeveloped.

Now that China has reached an economic level similar to maybe 1930s Japan, there might be redirection of energy to intellectual and cultural achievement.

Japan won its first Nobel Prize in science (in Physics) in 1949.

And by 1960s they were winning Nobels Prizes in science at a similar rate to a Western European country (and Japan now has a higher intellectual achievement than Southern and Eastern Europe).

So we should be hoping China will follow a similar trajectory as Japan, and eventually have an intellectual flourishing. But the Japanese had a much earlier indication of genius and adaption to the modern world already from the late 19th century.

India had a philosophical tradition equal to Ancient Greece. I would also hope that Indians will one day re-emerge and transform our intellectual world.

  123. Toronto Russian says

A 1971 experiment was strange: the “pilot” settling of mice ended up similar to Calhoun’s, but in the main settling they just didn’t let their population grow (through letting excessive offspring die) and didn’t differ much from the control group.

The result of this experiment was a total lack of overpopulation. The two experimental groups never weaned any pups though they produced many, and the control group grew to the comfortable limits of its apparatus and then ceased weaning any further pups. In an effort to ascertain the reasons for these results, one typeof the experimental groups was artificially reduced in number; whereupon it promptly weaned forty-one percent of its first litter, thirty percent of its second, and none of its third. At the time of its first weaning, this group was technically overpopulated. (…)

At its widest range there was only a 13.92 cubic inch/mouse difference between group one and the control group. It would appear from these results that the two populations both stabilized at nearly the same density level; one by reducing its adult population and exterminating its young; the other by controlling the survival rate of its young.

The other five variables were analyzed even though overpopulation did not occur. With the lack of overpopulation there was no observed decrease in grooming activity for any of the three groups. At no time during the experiment were any unkempt mice seen. There was no increase in homosexual behavior in any group. In fact, only upon one occasion was a homosexual act observed and it occurred in the control group. Nest building for individual females could not be determined as earlier proposed. Females did not construct separate nests, instead they combined their efforts and built communal nests, usually shared by two or three females in the experimental groups and from two to eight females in the control group. (…)

Another variable which was not tested but was noted because of curiosity and the fact that Calhoun (1962) found it to be important was the defining of territories and collecting of harems. Neither of these characteristic behaviors were observed in either experimental group; however early in its population growth, the control group set up territories. There seemed to be no apparent harems just territories. After an initial adaptive period most of the mice in the control group settled down in the cubicles nearest the food and water. In appearance it was much like Calhoun’s “behavioral sink”. At this time there was one group of males who were driven out of this living area and forced to live at the far end of the apparatus. This group varied in size from two to eight males. Each time one of these animals left his cubicle to acquire food or water he was promptly attacked and driven back to his cubicle. The attacks came from both males and females and, at a later time, even juveniles. There never appeared to be any females in this group, however females would enter the cubicle to engage in mating activities. As the density level began to increase within this group, the territorialism began to break down as did the “behavioral sink”. Finally there were no more territories, nor was there a “behavioral sink” as described by Calhoun (1962).

  124. In Computer Science, no racially Chinese person has a Turing Award (despite the fact a lot of racial Chinese study Computer Science in the best Western universities).

Actually a mistake in my comment – there is one (I didn’t hear about him before).

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Yao

  125. I understand the use you guys are trying to put HBD to – keep blacks and browns out.

First of all, it is not necessary to deliberately distort the genetic constraints of whites. Just interpret the available data honestly.

Secondly, as the price of keeping blacks and browns down and out, you are making yourself subservient to Jews and Asians.

Fair trade you think? Who are your more formidable competitors?

Thirdly, by emphasizing generic constraint over personal agency, well beyond what the data permits, you are hamstringing your self in the competition.

Fourthly, by portraying black and brown dysfunction as innate well beyond what the data permit, you are making mainstream opinion far less likely to accept your message. They will swing to the opposite untenable extreme and insist it is entirely environmental, as they are doing.

    So another own goal.

Finally, by sticking more closely to the limitations of the data and reasoning honestly from it, one can craft better arguments for maintaining the ethnic integrity of Western nations. It isn’t necessary to push a dishonest message of white genetic constraint and mediocrity because it allows you to also push a message of black and brown genetic constraint.

Nor is it necessary to push an inflexible message of black and brown genetic constraint, which will merely provoke a furious backlash.

  126. There’s no reason to overdetermine the explanation

America is far more religious than any other developed country (apart from maybe Qatar or Israel).

You said something about American culture. But then why are the Americans so much more religious than you would expect compared to other developed countries of the world?

  127. Generally agree with this comment, which seems quite cirrect to me overall.

Except that Japan is not excelling intellectually and is in par with Italy, as the Karlin comment pointed out. And their more recent better performance comes at a time a time of relative Western decline – i.e is not absolute, but relative to world decline in general.

But overall yes, everything changes and China may yet surprise us – and we should all hope that it does

  128. Aside from the extreme racial and and cultural variety, Israel is inclusive of non-Jews as well.

There are all kinds of strange non-Jewish illegal immigrants from third-world countries, living in Israel, whose children go to the army, receive citizenship, and appear the same as any Jewish Israelis.

Israel even has a population of thousands of African American Christians from Chicago who immigrated there in the 1970s.

They have every kind of church there and almost every possible religion in the world.

Generally, the good and bad things in Israel are the opposite of the media portrayal.

    • Many of the bad things in Israel are a result of its extreme racial, cultural and religious divides.

And many of the good things in Israel are a result of its extreme racial, cultural and religious divides.

In other words, for both good and bad, quite an complete opposite of what I read on here (which appears like 2 + 2 = 5 on this topic).

  129. This is true, there is far more inclusivity of non-Jews than is commonly portrayed, but it is futile to pretend that Jewish citizens are not formally privileged – although in other ways, the Arab minority can be said to be advantaged, as it benefits from affirmative action and is exempt from army service.

The national anthem contains the words “the soul of a Jew yearns…”.

I was watching a documentary on Amazon about Arab Muslim and Christian combat soldiers in the IDf, and it was really weird hearing them sing the “soul of a Jew…” in their swearing in ceremony. They did it quite emotionally too.

But I think it’s normal and healthy for a nation to have a formally privileged ethnic and cultural majority, while treating its minorities well.

    In sane times, that’s normal.

But as you say the picture in Israel is much more complex and multi layered than is portrayed either by its detractors or admirers. Its neither the mono-racial fascist state of alt-right dreams nor the mono racial fascist state of leftist horror lol (funnily they have the exact same image just attack different value judgements).

It is more like a 19th century nationalist state with humanist overtones, although this doesn’t quite describe it either.

Senior American officials told the Times the preliminary options show how threatening Iran has become. A Pentagon source told Newsweek if anything is likely to happen involving the preliminary Iran options, it would involve a heavy guided missile strike campaign in an attempt to lead Tehran to the negotiation table with Washington.

“It depends on the escalation of force. But no matter the bravado from Iran’s side, when you get hit it with 500 missiles every day, it degrades you, which is the objective. When your opponent is weak, you get more out of any negotiation,” said one official with knowledge of the Iran plans.

lol, what could possibly go wrong with that.

  135. Thulean Friend says

I wonder, if Trump will really be retarded enough to order military action.

It all depends what his jewish handlers – and their shabbos goyim underlings – want for him. Ultimately, the main reason why Iran has not been invaded yet is because that would send the world into a crippling recession. There is now an emerging buffer available in world oil output due to crashing conventional car sales, surging EVs and higher US shale oil output. Once 3-4 mbd/s in oil output can be absorbed with relative ease, Iran is likely to be invaded, unless they race to a nuclear bomb in record time.

The recent Venezuela tussle also plays into this. They have huge oil resources. Getting their production back on track would smooth the ground for an Iranian invasion even more, plus regain control over the US’ backyard neighbourhood, so two flies in one hit as the Swedish saying goes.

The refugee question is of course accurate. I don’t think it would be seen as a negative in Israel if Europe gets even more flooded with refugees. It wouldn’t be the primary or even secondary reason for an Iranian conflict, but it would be seen as a welcome side effect for many jews, given their hatred of Europe in particular. Having the Middle East in permanent turmoil is good for Israel, it keeps their rivals weak. It’s not good for Europe.

  136. German_reader says

Ultimately, the main reason why Iran has not been invaded yet

A ground invasion would require absurd numbers of troops, probably much more than during the Iraq war (in the article I linked to above, there’s talk of sending 120 000 troops as a possible preparation for an invasion). I don’t know if that would even be possible without some kind of draft, or could be sold politically in the US.
The idea that one could just bomb Iran into capitulation at minimal cost seems absurd to me though…the arrogant stupidity on display here is just insane, as if it’s inconceivable that Iran could retaliate in some possibly unexpected way.
In any case, such an action would probably isolate the US from most of its treaty allies. I don’t think even Britain or Australia would be keen on participating.

  137. Hyperborean says

    Not a positive example.

  138. Hyperborean says

Most of your splendid “advice” is probably horrible even for Americans, but when you apply American terms to Europe it becomes quite discordant.

But I of course have a one-track mind for continually challenging the official HBD narrative. What is wrong with me that I don’t just shut up, sit down, and passively accept what my “fellow white” HBDers are insisting is true?

Truly I have some crazed monomania.

The issue is that these debates are almost as retarded (it would be except for the absence of a Gerard2 type persona) as the circular Ukraine arguments.

It reflects poorly on the rest of us – and you as well if you truly are sincere.

Fortunately, since this is an obscure Internet forum where most of us use pseudonyms the shame is lessened, though not completely vanished.

  139. The relations are not awful these days at all. There has been a tremendous amount of intermarriage, and I think in 50 years the two groups will not be distinguishable.

Its actually a reasonable example of how a national ethnic identity is forged from disparate elements fusing over time provided there is a unifying national idea.

In Israel this is happening almost in real time.

There will always be distinct types – there will be blond and blue eyed Israelis and olive skinned dark haired Israelis, as there will always be blond Englishmen and dark Englishmen, and East Asian looking Central Asians and Turkish or Russian looking ones, no matter how many hundreds of years pass.

But there will be a huge core of mixed types and everyone will be somewhat blended. I personally know quite a few half-Ashkenaz half-Sephardic mixes.

  140. So the HBD narrative is not shameful, what is shameful is challenging it?

    Really, this is getting bizarre.

I can think of quite a few aspects of the HBD position that are shame inducing – back when I identified as white, oh last week around, I felt literally ashamed to see myself as white HBDers wanted me to. My cheeks burned red in shame when I read Steve Sailer or John Derbyshire, when I read how I was helpless before Jewish machinations and bound to watch Asians overtake me.

Mercifully, that shame is past now that I have joined a healthy group.

But I agree with you, these HBD discussions are actually quite retarded – we should all emphasize the role of effort and personal agency, try our best, believe we can do anything until we discover our limits, and stop inventing retarded narratives that are as shameful to promulgate as they are to defend against.

  141. Thorfinnsson says

I consider myself an HBDer and have never considered myself or my group to be helpless before the Jews and the Asians.

You might be reading too much into this.

As for HBD itself, aside from the fact that it lines up well with observable reality I’ve always found it fascinating. Discovering for instance that Australian aborigines have thicker skulls and superior visual memory (the better to navigate the Outback) tracks was very interesting.

  142. Hyperborean says

My cheeks burned red in shame when I read Steve Sailer or John Derbyshire, when I read how I was helpless before Jewish machinations and bound to watch Asians overtake me.

So why don’t you “help” Americans instead of talking about things that are irrelevant to Europe.

  143. Most of your splendid “advice” is probably horrible even for Americans, but when you apply American terms to Europe it becomes quite discordant.

I agree. My advice is dubious, sketchy, and subversive. You should not listen to it.

You should continue to overstate your genetic constraints relative to what the data says, and continue to portray yourselves as mediocre, while upselling the genetic constraints of Jews and Asians.

And you should continue to discount motivation relative to the data and depict crystallized performance as completely overlapping with potential performance with no discrepancy whatsoever.

And you should continue portraying blacks and browns as constrained to severe deficiency without any flexibility at all, as this will sure make your message more palatable to the mainstream.

Anyone challenging this is shameful, cringe inducing, subversive, and just all around yucky.

  144. Hyperborean says

I should clarify – for Mizrahim it is not so important but Ashkenazim this degeneration is not a positive example.

However, perhaps degeneration and a return to the base essence of Jewry was the most likely event of settling the cursed soil.

  145. In a way I am an HBDer too. No one sane denies ethnic differences.

But there is an HBD “lite”, which reasonably asseses ambiguous data, and “hard” HBD, which wildly overstates the case well beyond anything supported by the data.

Finally and most disturbingly, there is what I call the “white HBD movement”, which uses HBD ideas to craft a distorted and bizarre narrative of white impotence and mediocrity that cannot be defended within the available data.

But HBD on its own is innocuous and fascinating if treated intelligently and flexibly – following the data. Races, ethnicities, even families and clans – vive la difference.

I would be the last person to not appreciate the difference between Swedes and Italians for instance.

  146. I thought American ideas were hugely relevant to Europe. These days, ideas are global.

And HBD is destructive both to Europe and America – you too are facing a rising China and contending with local Jewish influence, as I understand.

And emphasizing personal agency over genetic cobstrainy is hugely important to a pessimistic and fatalistic Europe in particular.

But no one has to listen to anything I say. It is your inner bad conscience that makes you fight me.

  147. Hyperborean says

Jews are where they are due to nepotism (the final solution to solving the Jewish problem is well known) and whether East Asians are better or worse at certain aspects carry little relevance to Europe.

And you should continue portraying blacks and browns as constrained to severe deficiency without any flexibility at all, as this will sure make your message more palatable to the mainstream.

They are invaders and should be expelled purely based on that.

  148. Hyperborean says

I thought American ideas were hugely relevant to Europe. These days, ideas are global.

Liberation will only be completed once American ideas, thoughts, habits, meta-implications are purged.

And HBD is destructive both to Europe and America – you too are facing a rising China and contending with local Jewish influence, as I understand.

In the medium-term, a stronger China is helpful since it reduces American dominance.

As for Jews, a problem that has been fixed before, although unfortunately, not yet permanently.

And emphasizing personal agency over genetic cobstrainy is hugely important to a pessimistic and fatalistic Europe in particular.

What constraints? You’re the one frequently pushing the “Europeans are natural cucks” line. And talking about “Jews” and “Asians” has little relevance in a struggle against Arabs and Africans.

  149. Actually, I consider it one of the best things that could have happened to Ashkenazim. AN developed too much intellectually, and benefit from the healthy brawn of the SPH – although Israeli ANs tend to be a much more physically robust breed that their diaspora cousins.

And many subgroups of SPH are noted for their intelligence, like the Iraqis and the Persians.

In Israel finally, a healthy union is taking place of opposites.

  150. If Jews are where they are because of nepotism, it’s dangerous to portray them as being there because of intellectual merit, as many white HBDers do – because in today’s Enlightenment world, intellectual merit is two thirds of the moral right to rule.

As for Asians, do you really think portraying them as innately more intelligent has no effect on young Europeans motivations and sense of their own capacities? On their ability to compete? On the role of personal agency?

They are invaders – so expel them based on that.

  151. Hyperborean says

Again, this is more American “advice”.

  152. Liberation will only be completed once American ideas, thoughts, habits, meta-implications are purged.

Since I know by now America is “code” for Enlightenment ideas, that sounds reasonable.

In the medium-term, a stronger China is helpful since it reduces American dominance.

Sure – don’t see how that will help you get rid of Enlightenment ideas. Maybe it will. Its also a new threat.

Sounds like the white HBD movement is trying its best to uphold Jewish rule.

What constraints? You’re the one frequently pushing the “Europeans are natural cucks” line. And talking about “Jews” and “Asians” has little relevance in a struggle against Arabs and Africans

When did I ever say that?

And of course Jews and Asians are relevant to your struggle against Arabs and Africans – and the philosophies and self image you develop. If you can’t see that, you’re screwed.

  153. Hyperborean says

I thought you disliked rationalism and pragmatism. Shouldn’t the loss of their uniqueness into the amalgamation into a formless sludge be enough?

  154. Look, I think our aims are fundamentally different.

I want glory, you want safety. I am proactive, you are defensive. I want action, you want rest. I want the West to be great, you just want it free of blacks and browns.

We are talking past each other.

Your aims are modest and limited – a West free of blacks and browns that can comfortably sleep in safety.

To this end, you have no problem being inferior to Jews and Asians or anyone else so long as you can have your Long Sleep of centuries.

That’s fine. We are both right considering our aims.

As they say, it’s much better and easier to find your own kind than changing other people. So that’s what I’m going to do.

So there’s really no point in arguing. We want different things and suit our methods to our goals, naturally.

Neither of us is right or wrong.

I will continue to point out logical errors and stupiditues in HBD cause its fun, but don’t take it as an effort to persuade you please.

The two Koreas are a good example of why one is more threatening than the other.

  158. Hyperborean says

I consider Ashkenazim enemies, but from their perspective I don’t see why losing their distinct characteristics is a positive. For the same reason, despite the fact that Turks are enemies as well, I regard neo-Ottoman Islamism as a highest folly.

  160. Hyperborean says

I want glory, you want safety. I am proactive, you are defensive. I want action, you want rest. I want the West to be great, you just want it free of blacks and browns.

I don’t believe in “the West”, I have stated that clearly before. But maybe you should define “greatness” first.

  161. Well, since on the other thread you explained that HBD is not a significant part of your philosophy, which I take as at least partially a disavowal of HBD, then maybe I don’t disagree with your beliefs on this matter, at least not significantly perhaps.

I’m sure on other things we disagree, though, but that’s normal.

  162. Makes sense, but I think one major reason you think like that is because after having stripped yourself of culture and religion your only remaining “unifying idea” is race.

For Askenazim, their major unifying idea is the “Jewish people”, which is a racial-cultural-religious (rcr) unit of identity. So mixing with Jews of other types is not seen as dilution of their primary identity.

However, by no means all Askenazim think like this, and many are quite racist (their primary identity is racial not civilizational).

From my personal point of view, my primary unit of identity is “rcr”, but of course up to a point – I am not infinitely flexible.

  163. Hyperborean says

It is in fact based on culture that I see it as a negative, although it would matter less for more religious Jews who have acquired less distinct cultural traits.

If Ashkenazim possessed a clear dominance of numbers (75% or more vis-a-vis Mizrahim) to ensure assimilation of Mizrahim rather than the reverse, then the issue would not matter as much.

  164. German_reader says

but I think one major reason you think like that is because after having stripped yourself of culture and religion your only remaining “unifying idea” is race.

Lame straw man argument, for most European nationalists the primary loyalty is of course their own nation, which is strongly defined not just by common descent, but also by language, culture, history.
That doesn’t preclude awareness of belonging to the wider pan-European world though, which imo does have race as a significant component (but not exclusively, also many shared cultural elements, like the heritage of antiquity, elements of the Enlightenment – yes, it wasn’t all bad, not at all! -, or the heritage of Christianity, even though I’m personally not that big on the latter, given the subversive role of the churches today).
Given that we face common threats by mass immigration/Islamicization/Africanization in Europe today (certainly true at least in the western half, though I doubt the east will remain unaffacted forever), some form of solidarity and cooperation is urgently needed, and ethnic kinship isn’t the worst basis for such solidarity.

  165. Ashkenazim and Sephardim are about evenly matched in numbers, may be a bit more of Sephardim.

But in my view and in the view of the early Zionists, Ashkenazim developed unhealthy traits in the diaspora – one of the main points of Zionism is to heal these wounds and become a nation as rooted in the physical as in the intellectual.

To this end mixing is healthy under the auspices of a common identity.

  166. Hmm, a thoughtful, balanced, and nuanced comment that I actually liked GR – explains the situation well.

As for your last line, I would agree that ethnic kinship is s necessary and important role in any sense of identity – it absolutely cannot just be culture and religion.

But ethnic identity cannot be the sole form of identity, at least if you want actually strong and viable identity that’s healthy, and must be bound up with region, culture, religion, and historical tradition.

  167. German_reader says

But ethnic identity cannot be the sole form of identity, at least if you want actually strong and viable identity that’s healthy, and must be bound up with region, culture, religion, and historical tradition

They are connected, descent-culture is a false dichotomy imo. People usually don’t choose their cultural identity freely, but are born into it.
Some amount of integration and assimilation of individuals is of course possible, but at the group level it becomes problematic.
The whole idea that mass immigration would be ok, if only immigrants adopted our “values” is totally pernicious imo, even in the best case it would merely lead to a brittle, superficial pseudo-identity and massively reduce societal cohesion. But there’s no mechanism anyway to enforce even such superficial assimilation, and the entire process is asymmetrical, with native ethnocultural identity being deconstructed and delegitimized, while the strong and often downright archaic identity of immigrants is protected.
And this doesn’t even touch the issue that some peoples might be on average, to be brutally frank, too genetically inferior to make a positive contribution in a modern Western society.

  168. Another comment I largely agree with, almost in its entirety.

They are connected, descent-culture is a false dichotomy imo. People usually don’t choose their cultural identity freely, but are born into it.

And this is a perceptive point. People are born into a culture as much as into a race, and to some extent they are coterminous.

Even Enlightenment culture is, for better or worse, a specific culture. But I think it is better to describe it as an anti-culture.

The only reason to define the elements of “identity” and specify that it includes ethnicity, religion, and culture, is because the Enlightenment tends to remove all of these things as elements of ones identity. So one must consciously re-construct what should be organic.

And certainly merely adopting “values” does no go deep enough to the roots of identity – a national identity is far, far more than merely values. It is shared history, shared struggle, shared suffering, shared triumph, an attachment to land and region, and a commitment to these things.

Conversion to Judaism, as I mentioned in another thread, is s long and arduous process that involves mild humiliation and real deprivation – and at the end, one is expected to transform the way one lives – make real sacrifices.

It is not a mere adoption of “values”. It’s a demonstration of skin in the game, a commitment to a shared fate.

And “mass” conversions would not work, as I also pointed out – the converts would simply form an new identity within Judaism.

So conversions are limited and kept few in number in practice.

I apply all these considerations to anyone wishing to join a European country.

And yes, the biggest farce of “multiculturalism” is that native identity is being deconstructed as immigrant identities are encouraged. Which is why I never bought into the theory of European pathological altruism – it is self-hate, leapfrogging loyalties.

    leapfrogging loyalties

Isn’t this a phrase that Sailer (or perhaps Derbyshire) came up with? Seems ironic.

  171. Obviously the comment is nonsense.

“Mizrachim” (it just means “Easterners” in Hebrew language) refers to about twenty different ethnicities/races of the Jews in Israel.

Some of them will be completely proletarian, like the Kurds there – but there more bourgeois Arab Jews who had immigrated from quite developed cities like Cairo or Baghdad, and there exist educated Georgians, Armenians, Azerbaijanis.

    • For “brawn”. Best soldiers and fighters in the world, are usually from Russian-speaking countries.

If search anything about boxing or combat sports in Israel, you can guess its more often children of people from Russian-speaking background in Israel who are doing combat sports (Russian speaking parents in Israel, will include Mizrachim, but it will be a minority).

  172. Actually, I believe George Orwell came up with it. He noticed it first with regard to English communists despising England but being loyal to Russia.

It’s an old tendency and at the heart of modern cuckery – big mistake to see the issue as altruism.

  173. Japanese are high achieving by international standards, if they are now on a similar level as Western Europe intellectually. At the same time, their cultural productivity is higher than most Western European countries.

Today, Japan has a high civilization level and is culturally original.

China, on the other hand, is very low achieving relative to population, and even in absolute terms.

Chinese even have vast millions of people living overseas or in countries like Taiwan, and still very few intellectual achievements at the highest level, even if those were the only Chinese in the world.

Whether the lack of success of the Chinese is because they are racially inferior to Japanese, or if it is just culture – is another question.

As is question whether Chinese can start to becoming high achieving this century (which from any human perspective, we should hope that China turns around and becomes a successful nationality). .

  174. Yep, agree mostly.

As for the Russian thing, I do not believe the elite IDF units have a preponderance of Russians, from the pics I’ve seen – and in any event their glory days when they were doing all the real dramatic stuff was before Russians arrived. These says they’re more casualty averse, understandably.

What surprised me, was that even in the early days the elite unites had quite a number of Sephardic Jews, Iraqis and Yemenis, when I thought these units were almost entirely Ashkenazi until much later.

IDF elite units are a weird mixture of brains and brawn anyways, as you’ll have scrawny nerdy guys like Ehud Barak together with burly types like Netanyahu.

But I’m prepared to accept that Russians are exceptional fighters on an individual level – I think the guy who developed Krav Maga for the army was Russian.

I remember my visits to Brighton Beach when I was younger. The Russian guys were these towering, super fit guys. Very impressive.

I remember thinking Russians might be a physically superior race – until I encountered a broader sample and realized that was just a narrow slice of the Russian phenotype.

That’s not exactly leapfrogging, and is far older.

Did I say I considered it “altruism”? It is nothing of the sort, although the motives for various people are different.

  176. Yes, the Chinese underachievment thing is a mystery if you take IQ at face value, and it’s worth noting that it’s long-standing, not just recent.

The Japanese do seem reasonably impressive. They seem to have that extra something to some degree at least. They are also a “young” people and developed quite a bit later than Chinese, and from some points of view even Europeans.

The first civilized Japanese state was in the 9th century around I believe – quite late historically. So maybe they have some “barbarian vigor” left. And foreigners have always observed the Japanese have something “western” about them.

The real vitality of Asian culture is today found in Japan.

I agree we should all hope China experiences a flowering in this century and benefits the entire human race.

  177. songbird says

Today, Japan has a high civilization level and is culturally original.

China, on the other hand, is very low achieving relative to population, and even in absolute terms.

I think communism has really thrown (and continues to throw) Chinese culture out of wack. The HK movie industry was pretty influential, and HK was a relatively small part of China, though operating under more freedom.

  178. Maybe, but iirc Orwell used that term in his essays.

No, I do not recall you specifically saying it was altruism, to your credit, just that it was also one of the silly positions HBDers were taking for a while.

I agree with you that it is nothing of the sort, although for some people it can be part of the larger picture and motivations differ.

The idea that one could just bomb Iran into capitulation at minimal cost seems absurd to me though

I don’t think I’ve ever claimed that. But a key difference, I think, is that there would be less emphasis on “democracy promotion” and just more focus on destabilising them for as long as possible. The rhetoric would still be about muh human rights but there wouldn’t likely be the same massive effort that was sustained for years in Iraq. Such an approach would be far less onerous. The goal here is to turn Iran into another Syria, where the de facto emphasis has been on destabilisation rather than democracy promotion. That to me is the correct frame of reference. You may disagree.

    …the arrogant stupidity

Nothing stupid about it if you understand who benefits and for what purpose. It’s only stupid if you take the premise of the US being a sovereign state at face value, which I haven’t for a number of years now. US Middle Eastern foreign policy cannot be understood without understanding the Israel lobby.

  183. As for HBD itself, aside from the fact that it lines up well with observable reality I’ve always found it fascinating. Discovering for instance that Australian aborigines have thicker skulls and superior visual memory (the better to navigate the Outback) tracks was very interesting.

Had a chance to listen to the more thorough explanation of social epistatis here:

I think it is generally compelling, although there’s always the need for more data. Nonetheless, its a coherent idea with a reasonable mechanism for execution. For those interested in the content of the video, the original inspiration for social epistasis came from the observation of the mutation in feeder ants upon a colony. Ant larvae grow up to become soldiers, workers, etc. based on what they are fed; therefore even a few mutant feeders have unusually heavy influence upon the entire composition of the colony. The mammalian exploration of this were in the “beautiful ones” messing with the phemones of other rats, ultimately causing a breakdown in the chemical coordination that rats use. In this, it becomes helpful to look at the entire group less as individuals but as a superorganism(as ant colonies definitively are) where sufficient breakdown of an organ causes the entire organism to sicken, or die.

The human equivalent, ruling out phemones, etc would be in the well known marketing concept of “influencers” where a small Pareto proportion of the population has an unusually heavy influence upon others, and thus if that population becomes “spiteful mutants”, then so their harm accordingly increases.

Two takes of my own, expanding from this:

First, we know of some epigenetic influences exist in humans. In animals, with Pottenger’s Cats, poor diet led to increasingly weaker kittens and in their subsequent generations.

The cats on the raw-food diet thrived while those eating the cooked meat developed health problems – and the effects persisted in their offspring. While the cooked-meat cats of the first generation developed degenerative diseases later in life (and reportedly became lazy), the second-generation cats started to get sick in mid-life.

By the third generation, the cats developed degenerative diseases very early in life, had a shorter lifespan, and some were born blind. Many of the third-generation cats could not reproduce, and those that did produced even sicker offspring that often died within six months. By the fourth generation, the “junk food” cats died off completely.

Its possible that the low selectional environment of humans have led to similar deterioration.

Second, I’ve noted that the increased flow of information now means that harmful memes are spread worldwide. Therefore, assuming that memes serve a similar kind of harm as mutant feeder ants can do to the colony superorganism, then it is perhaps possible that the human noosphere is a superorganism that can no longer really avoid poisoning because there are almost no isolated societies from any harmful, but popular memes.

You said something about American culture. But then why are the Americans so much more religious than you would expect compared to other developed countries of the world?

On the whole, I think America could best be described as a godless country now – Sodom or Gomorrah. Such differences as exist are largely inconsequential in a political or cultural sense. I don’t know if I can really explain their being, only to say one or two things:

1.) I’m not sure it is a good idea to make the head of government into head of a church, as seems to be the case sometimes in Europe.

2.) America is much more suburban or rural in character than a lot of Europe – this creates cultural differences on the anthropological level, which are distinct from the urban meta-culture (Hollywood, NYC, DC). Let’s say you imagine the world as a giant brain – parts of Europe will be more connected to these places than parts of America.

Regardless though, the important thing is that there has been a large diminution in religion in the US, just as in other places.

  187. What would you call libertarianism then?

  188. And what would you call the increase in what can only be termed as niceness and toleration? Especially towards traditionally towards traditionally despised minorities like gays, and if IQ is adaptive, why do higher IQ people show an increase in this niceness, compared to low IQ people?

  189. for-the-record says

Discovering for instance that Australian aborigines have … superior visual memory …

Perhaps they have superior visual memory as well, but what really sets them apart is their exceptional long-range vision (no memory required!):

Prince Harry ‘may need binoculars’ to match ‘super sight’ of Indigenous NORFORCE soldiers

When Prince Harry trains with the largely Indigenous NORFORCE unit, he may learn some of their secrets, but he might struggle to ever be anywhere near as good at spotting enemies as the diggers are.

The reason is the way the eyes and brains of Indigenous Australians are wired.

An expert in Indigenous eye health has said some Aboriginal people in outback Australia have vision that can be more than four times better than non-Indigenous people.

They can see things that are four times smaller than what is assumed most people can see, making their vision the best in the world.

It also makes the North West Mobile Force (NORFORCE) team particularly useful when it comes to seeing an enemy from a long way away, and in their work patrolling about 1.8 million square kilometres of land in the NT and Western Australia.

In times of peace NORFORCE spotters are used to find asylum seeker vessels or illegal fishing ships in Australian waters that may otherwise go unnoticed.

The incredible ability is known as “sharper vision” or “super sight”.

“The super sight is the way their retina and brain is wired, and they are probably like that from childhood,” said Professor Hugh Taylor, who pioneered studies into super sight.

IQ is probably separate from some of these ideal social/moral traits. For instance, you can have high IQ psychopaths.

Overall, I am not sure I trust the linkage (academia has well-known biases.) But, whatever the case is, it seems evident that smart people tend to be more conformist. This may be related to their ability to think of the possible consequences, if they step out of line.

Unmitigated support for gays seems to negative. If you know anyone who works with children, I almost guarantee they are seeing trans kids now. Where were they just a few years ago? They didn’t exist. Something about society or their parents has turned them crazy. Although, one argument might be that is is eugenic to remove the latent craziness from the genepool by encouraging them. Still, I find it distasteful.

  192. songbird says

Libertarians are a very heterogeneous group of people (although mostly white.) TBH, I don’t think it is very useful as a political label anymore, but should be broken up into better descriptors.

Among those that believe in actual liberty or small government, many seem to operate under the naive assumption that they can achieve it through ideas or reciprocal contracts. They are effectively ignoring the idea of social epistasis – that they are in fact governed by other people’s genes, so something like immigration really matters.

  193. Social epistasis is an interesting idea – of course it is only the old idea of “collective consciousness” translated into modern idiomatic language (old psychological facts are now all genetic facts).

But I think it is undoubtedly true. I travel a tremendous amount, or used to, and have noticed that in some places I just feel better, or significantly different, than in other places, without there being any really obvious reason.

So I have no doubt we are not mere atoms, but profoundly affected by the “collective psychology” of the community, and perhaps even physical place.

You want to call it genes, that’s fine. But its a real phenomenon.

I think they’ve done a good job of foreshadowing: plenty of times since season 2 Dany’s been more cruel than she had to be, threatened to be a tyrant and only been held back by her loyal advisors, all of whom are now gone (Tyrion’s loyalty has always been an open question). Her arc imo mirrors Cersei who became progressively more vicious as she experienced more tragedies and came closer to power: in both cases the message is that a person who has the hereditary disposition to be bad (which clearly runs in both the Targaryen and Lannister bloodlines) will be especially susceptible to power’s corrupting effects.

The holier-than-thou-art moralist who ends up being crueler than whatever force she opposes is a pattern for which there is plenty of historical precedent. Also the savagery of war and the ultimate futility of revenge – both more nuanced and mature themes than we usually see from Hollywood. Which may explain why this episode is getting such a cold reception, despite it surely being better than all of season 8 and most of season 7 as well.

Is “more individualist” the best way to put it? From what I know Denmark has basically the same Nordic-style social welfare system as Sweden, which imo doesn’t seem very individualistic. Also the concept of Jante law is Danish in origin

which is not exactly an ode to individuality.

It seems like Denmark as a country just tends to favor nuance and moderation as opposed to strong rhetoric and opinions. In Eichmann in Jerusalem Arendt specifically singles out Denmark for its non-complicity with the Holocaust; perhaps Danes are just allergic to radicalism, be it from the right or the left.

Of course never having been to Denmark, and with only cursory knowledge of the country, there may be something I’m missing out on here.

Asians are also very hierachical. The kind of egalitarian concepts that White people have, especially NorthWest Europeans, is alien to them. If it wasn’t for Western pressure, both India and China would continue their feudal cultural practices (sati for India, foot binding for China). Slavery got abolished largely because of White morality. People talk about globohomo crusades as if it is something new and unique, but White people have been on moral crusades for centuries now. It’s nothing new. We’re very good at imposing our social mores on others.

So while NEAs work well within a unit, there is much greater latitude for a boss to rule unperpturbed. As a counter-example, Swedish peasants and farmers were the freest in Europe duing the middle ages and had a far greater democratic say. This is also what held back Eastern Europe, possibly because of lower average IQ, which is linked to authoritarianism and despotism. Serfdom lasted for far longer there wheras in the smartest countries in Europe, it was either briefer than in EE or barely implemented at all, as in Sweden.

NEA is both high IQ and authoritarian. Some have linked this more stilted social organisation to lower risk-taking, lower meritocracy etc as a way to explain lower historical innovation than white peoples. I’m personally skeptical of that particular intepretation but that’s another debate.

Mozi taught that everyone is equal in the eyes of heaven. For those in power he believed that it should be based on meritocracy, or those who are worthy of power receive power. This is different than Confucianism because those who are given power in Confucianism are handed the power. Mozi invokes heaven and calls on the Sage Kings to support his precedents.

Collectivism arguably requires hierarchy and an answer to “what are you sacrificing for?” and historically the Chinese have struggled with the question with two significant answers: either xiao, which is “filial duty” and thus essentially forms the basis of family and clan struggles, or zhong, which are obligations to the “king and country.” The problem is that “king and country” were not deified like in Japan, and the Mandate of Heaven could equally become justification for rebellion. It becomes an odd-ish jutaxposition where in practice, xiao remained more important(and accounts for a lot of corruption to this day) but zhong is always preached to be more important(because the government, of course, wants it to be so).

What seems to have ultimately resulted from this conflict between “loyalty to family or loyalty to emperor” is the idea that one’s hierarchy must be discovered through exams and credentialism; this was obviously not “fair” given both hereditary intelligence as well as provision for education, etc, but this become a foundational myth of meritocracy. Then through your virtue and service to the country, your entire family is honored(and thus “acceptable inequality”). Or vice versa, which resulted in collective punishments. The high status given to “honor suicides” is naturally related to this.

Part of Chinese instability, I would argue, is because this conflict has never been truly resolved to this day. I imagine every time a Party official has a chance to provide a “favor” to a family member in some gray area, but realizes that it might be frowned by government regulations, he’s trying to reason this out.

  200. Daniel Chieh says

The problem is that “king and country” were not deified like in Japan

Zheng Chenggong found this incredibly frustrating and its actually pretty funny if you think about it. The word for Emperor is literally tian zi or “Son of Heaven” but his soldiers completely ignored it and said that if he was so powerful, he can save himself.

For the Japanese-raised Zheng, it was a ridiculous reversal. Rather than dying for their divine Emperor, they expected the Emperor to intervene with the divine for them and stop storms, or provide godly wisdom or the like. And if the Emperor couldn’t, then he lacked the Mandate of Heaven and didn’t deserve the throne. So instead of serving the Emperor, its almost as if they expected the Emperor to serve them.

This form of expected paternalism seems to exist to this day, where citizens petition the Party to, among other things, to save them from their bad stock investments.

  201. Serfdom lasted for far longer there wheras in the smartest countries in Europe, it was either briefer than in EE or barely implemented at all, as in Sweden.

This is bullshit. In England serfdom existed for 600 years, in Poland for about 300 years, in Russia for about 250 years. In medieval England, about 12% were free peasants and more than 70% were serfs, in Russia, according to the 1857 census, 45% were free peasants and 34% were serfs.

This is also what held back Eastern Europe, possibly because of lower average IQ

It’s obviously a ridiculous hypothesis. In Denmark was a serfdom 400 years, in Norway, serfdom was absent (with virtually equal IQ according to modern measurements). Russia was divided into territories where serfdom existed, and territories fully populated by free peasants (who owned land) – with virtually equal IQ. In Asia, serfdom was almost absent, England on the contrary was a country of particularly hard and long serfdom. Etc., etc.

Constitutionalists are often people with whom I sympathize They are against transfer of wealth in principal. In favor of home-schooling. Some come across as a little paranoid – but that just means they make good watchdogs. Many believe in a border while celebrating black culture, or calling the Dems the real racists.

Libertines almost seem to care exclusively about one issue: decriminalization of drugs. Though this sphere extends into other things, like being against prisons, and being for open borders. They are not necessarily anti-tax (for other people), but I guess could still be described as anti-establishment. I have heard one say that he supported Bernie.

  211. the important thing is that there has been a large diminution in religion in the US, just as in other places.

America has tens (or hundreds?) of millions of people whose life is based around religion, sometimes in a fanatical way. Religion is an important part of American social life, and it even impacts political debates (for example, abortion) and public education.

While GRRM also likely has her descending into Mad Queen status, I assume that it will follow a credible plot arc, since he is a very talented writer. D&D could not be bothered her transition – or anything else, really – credible, because they would much rather be making Django Unchained fanfic featuring rampant explicit homosexuality, white genocide, and Negro bulls dominating soyboy cucks such as themselves (i.e. what I take to be the main themes of their next project).

Even her complicity in her brother’s death seems suspect now: was his behavior really so objectionable, given that she probably would have behaved the same way in his situation?

I agree that the actual inflection point between not-crazy Dany and crazy Dany was poorly executed. Somebody on Reddit suggested that they could have kept another of her dragons alive for the attack on King’s Landing, then had it killed after her victory by a rogue ballista – much better than this random “the bells triggered her thing.” In general this season has suffered from a lack of exposition – a lot of things would make more sense if they were given some explanation.

    Well,…

Adaptational Villainy: Book!Dany often shows a softer side that is sometimes missing from the show.
The most notable being the absence of her horrified despair when Viserys draws steel in Vaes Dothrak, knowing that her brother has sentenced himself to death. And the lack of how she pleads for a reconciliation. In the moments she reminisces on her recently-departed sibling, it is without a hint of fondness and is instead dripping with scorn or derision. While in the book she acknowledged his effect on her formative years and how he loved, educated and protected her until the stresses of responsibility for his little sister, coupled with the humiliation of exile snapped his sanity in twain; which she forgives him for.

But it’s not so much what she does as how she does it: a character like e.g. Jon Snow or Ned Stark will use violence somewhat reluctantly and in a manner designed to minimize suffering whereas Daenerys has a penchant for cruel and unusual (and ironic) punishments.

Well, the issue that her feminist fans have is that Daenerys used to do it to “bad people”. It says something interesting and scary about pop culture absorbing SJWs that they utterly loved her cruelty when it was hitting people who had been properly tagged with their triggers for “evil” – slave masters, the white male patriarch brother who tried to control her and so on.

Her fans clearly expected the writers keep serving dehumanized targets for her dragons that she can be the avenger hero who gives people their just desserts. It’s really disturbing how effective pop culture is at conditioning people to celebrate cruelty as long as the victims satisfy a set of triggers – and it’s even more disturbing that these dehumanization triggers are so obviously ideological.

I think GoT writers with their mission of “subverting audience expectations” has inadvertently revealed a lot about poz and how it is spread by TV. They “subverted” the poz programming and their conditioned SJW fans can’t process it.

  227. Anonymous says

Agree completely. I think GoT is interesting from a purely sociological perspective: its popularity and what the audience takes from it are revealing, especially as in the US it’s disproportionately watched by educated leftish bourgeois types. Probably it doesn’t say good things about a society where something so violent and sexualized could have mainstream popularity.

Corrupting or revelatory? Lincoln once said “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” I tend to agree. People don’t always say what they mean or mean what they say. When they get absolute power – that’s when you find out what they’re really all about. No corruption necessary. As commanding general of the Continental Army, Washington had the opportunity to establish himself as dictator-for-life, like other military commanders throughout history had done, and as Napoleon actually did. He did not. On top of his contributions to victory, that’s why he remains one of the most widely-admired leaders this country has ever had.

  230. A question to Karlin and other Russians.

I saw this negro and he’s being promoted big time in Russia:

He’s a leading host for this media company:
    https://vk.com/nrj

Extremely popular, with 2,5 million followers. His co-host is, in truly ZOG media fashion, a pretty white woman.

    https://i.imgur.com/jnRRAbI.jpg

Quite the pairing, no? This outlet’s role in the country is to promote Western soft power via popular hits, and it’s replete with Negro and degenerate music by big Jewish studios.

His Instagram has plenty of photos with Russian women, he certainly likes being photographed alongside them to show off.

I wonder, with so much native talent, why the pain to find a trendy Negro for the young audience? In politics the Chicago Jews did this with the then obscure Obama.

The name of the program just reinforces my view that all the machinations here are deliberate: it’s called BLACK2WHITE. I’m not making this up. That’s a title I would have come up with if I were a slimy Jewish pornographer.

Fetishising the Negro is the first step toward normalizing his presence in Russian society and building an ‘antiracist’ pro-democide sentiment, and later movement. NGOs promoting antiracism, all too well known to us, are at the moment neutered by the Siloviks, but below the surface there are people who are setting up the foundations for such a movement, should the Siloviks ever be displaced the way the WASP elite were in the US.

A lot of attention is paid to culture, I’m aware of that (in this the Kremlin has a soulmate in Orban and his men), but from what I gather from this and other anecdotes, it’s not enough.

The media in question is owned by – surprise surprise – a multinational French company based in Paris.

Now to the Gazprom media, it’s not related to this Negro but to their direction generally speaking. Are they patriotic? I wonder the extent in which these organizations are infiltrated by globalists/freemasons/jewry/whatever you want to call them, which would reflect in liberast propaganda being spread by them, even if they don’t attack the policies of the government.

  233. I doubt that he is “extremely popular” – I first learned about its existence from your post

Right? Likewise, I’ve never heard of him, but the same could be said of other popular non-political media personalities in Russia. I say “non-political” in the literal sense, but I see politics as being downstream from culture. You can counter that and say it’s the other way around: the elites impose their culture on the masses. That’s not wrong, and allowing a foreign elite to debase your culture via mass media promotion of miscegenation and Negro worship satisfies both takes (it’s culture affecting social attitudes, but at the same time it’s a culture that is funded by a foreign elite). In my view 2.5 million followers is no small feat.

  235. JRL Promoted Inaccuracy

    Re: https://russialist.org/moscow-patriarchates-opposition-to-new-stalin-cult-draws-fire-from-russian-nationalists/

The suggestion is clearly given that the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate has taken a noticeably different view from the Russian government position on Stalin. As the noted Russian history professor Stephen Cohen has stated (on more than one occasion), Russia’s president has been directly involved in honoring the victims of the Stalin era. In post-Soviet Russia, the annual Victory Day holiday, commemorating the defeat of Nazi Germany, doesn’t exhibit a Russian government involved “deifying” of Stalin. Rather, the Russian government stance on Victory Day, is pretty much in line with the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.

Recently, Paul Goble, the author of the above linked JRL promoted piece, said that Russians in Russia have a reason to be jealous of Ukraine. On the matter of comparing Russia to Ukraine, the Russian government hasn’t been so glorifying of Stalin, when compared to how the Kiev regime has treated the WWII era west Ukrainian based OUN/UPA nationalists.

Concerning Goble’s not too distant Russia-Ukraine comparison:

    Re: https://www.eurasiareview.com/23042019-ukraine-has-gotten-over-russia-but-russia-hasnt-gotten-over-ukraine-oped/

    Excerpt –

Russians have been so obsessed with Ukraine for five years to the point of forgetting about their own country’s problems, Liliya Shevtsova says; and Moscow has done what it can to keep Russia at the center of Ukraine’s reality. But as the election of Vladimir Zelensky shows Ukraine has gotten over Russia. The question is: can Russia get over Ukraine?

To be expected from Shevtsova, who has spun a Ukrainian nationalist and anti-Russian leaning line for a good few years. In actuality, the Russian government has listed a number of foreign policy priorities which don’t involve Ukraine. Russia reasonably sees Ukraine as an important neighbor, with millions of people in Russia having roots to the latter and vice versa.

When compared to Russia at large, the behavior of Ukraine’s outgoing President Petro Poroshenko, is more indicative of an obsessively compulsive manner that conflicts with reality. Poroshenko is by no means alone, as is evident in this Ukrainian nationalist and anti-Russian leaning article:

    https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/04/01/ukraines-tv-president-is-dangerously-pro-russian/

Some excerpts from the above linked Eurasia Review article:

Moreover, she continues, the excessive focus on Ukraine to the exclusion of Russian realities highlights the cowardice of the Russian elites who would like to attack America but won’t because they fear the consequences and thus attack Ukraine.

    &

Russians are constantly trying to come up with something that will force Ukraine to turn back, but all of their ideas – be it giving passports to people in the Donbass or cutting off oil – only have the effect of reinforcing the desire of Ukraine’s to pursue their drive to separate themselves from Russia and join Europe.

Appears to be on par with stating that the US has cowardly bombed some other countries, but not Russia. Contrary to Shevtsova, the Russian government hasn’t simply “given” passports to residents of the rebel held Donbass areas. Rather, the Russian government has offered that option to these residents. Post-Yanukovych Kiev regime controlled Ukraine has withheld benefits to the citizens of these rebel held territories. If Russia is such a negative force, then there’s no reason to worry about the Donbass residents en masse accepting Russian passports.

My wife and I watched a soap opera long ago, for a few months, when we were students and had the time. Eventually it became boring and predictable. One rule about soap opera characters – every one is either an idiot, or an asshole. The “good” characters are all dumb, the bad ones are the smarter ones.

I watched one episode of GOT when renting a cottage with friends who were big fans. I was struck by the fact that it ultimately and in essence was nothing more than a soap opera, dressed up like Lord of the Rings, and with a lot of gore. Who is sleeping with whom? Who is betraying whom? Will someone get revenge for being wronged?

So your observation doesn’t surprise me. Everyone is either an idiot or an asshole. May the idiots win.
